Hello !

I hope you have a great winter so far !

I would like to start by saying thank you to the folks that answered to my last month message and stopped by at the hall to chat with me about new ideas and new projects.

Tagish you are just awesome!

New at the Community Centre, we have that little walking, kicksledding trail by the skate rink in the forest. You can rent a kicksled for $5. You missed that kicksled workshop ? No worries, just ask me and we can work on it together!

Also, the ice rink is ready! The Tagish Volunteer Fire Fighters is working on it since December. The Change Shack is also open for you, members. Shovels available to use if needed. Volunteers are welcome to help to keep snow free.

Yoga on the Monday and Line Dancing on the Wednesday are still running and are popular. New participants are always welcome to join.

Stay active, Stay healthy, Stay warm, Stay loved!

MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAM

Although there is still snow on the ground and winter is far from over, the LAC must register with the Government of Yukon for the 2023 Mosquito Control Program by February 10th, 2023. The program administration and coordination has been awarded to Duka Environmental Services Ltd. The contractor’s Program Coordinator is Curtis Fediuk. Application areas will be the same as previous years.

Tagish LAC is fortunate to have Tonny Jansen as the Community Contact for Tagish who will work with Curtis for the larvicide application. Mr. Jansen is a Certified Pesticide Applicator for Mosquito – Ground Application Bacterial Pesticides and Growth Regulator. If there are other Tagish residents interested in assisting Tonny, they must have a pesticide applicator certificate. Anyone interested in obtaining a certificate can contact Jackie.taylor@yukon.ca for more information. The Tagish Advisory Council will only cover the cost of the successfully completed course, no travel, etc. If interested, applications must be submitted prior to February 10th . Please contact Jackie Taylor for more information.

For more information on the MCP, visit Duka’s website: https://www.duka.consulting
