I Have Two Left Feet - If You Could Teach Me to Dance, That Would be Great! So, you’ve thought about dance lessons, but your two left feet got you stuck! Luckily, getting started with dancing is way simpler, and less traumatic, than you may be thinking! Here are some tips to get those two left feet moving in the right direction! Step 1: Quit delaying! How many times have you put things off because you’re “too busy”? Frankly we just do not believe in people being “too busy” to dance! We get it though – sometimes it is hard to find the time to enjoy the little things. We promise after your first dance lesson with us, that you will make the time in your schedule for some dancing! Step 2: Forget what you’ve heard. No, you do not need a partner! The best way to learn how to dance is actually by yourself! By receiving one-on-one attention from your instructor, you will be able to retain more information and learn faster! Yes, you can find your right foot at Arthur Murray. Our proven teaching system has worked for many hopeless left-footers, and if you are reading this we are confident it could work for you too! Step 3: Why do you, or should you, want to learn how to dance? A lot of our students come to us for many different reasons. Some want to lose weight, while some want to socialize with a new crew. Whether you are in crisis mode and need to learn how to dance for your corporate party to impress your boss, or you just feel like bringing some sexy back to yourself, it’s going to take YOUR motivation to get you walking through our door! We will take care of the rest! Step 4: Make your move. This step is always the scariest, but we promise we will make it simple, quick, and painless! Call us, email us or just stop into one of our 8 Boston area locations! From there, we will help you schedule your complimentary first lesson, answer any questions you may have. We recommend scheduling your first lesson 2-3 days after you contact us! Why? Because we are SO excited to get you started right away! Again, “too busy” won’t fly with us! Step 5: Commit to it! You have already done the hardest step – calling us and scheduling your lesson! Show up ready to try something new and your instructor will take it at a pace that is comfortable for you and will probably have you laughing, while dancing, the whole time! Get Started Today! Visit us at www.arthurmurraydancelasses.com Call Arthur Murray Dance Studios at 888-766-0455.

EDITOR’S NOTE

Well, at long last this thing called the Election is over with. At the time of my writing this, I don’t know what the outcome is. I can only hope the world has not ceased to exist, burst into flames, or a civil war commenced, or all of the above. This is not meant to be a political publication, it’s meant to be the exact opposite, offering people an escape from their daily lives, giving them options for enjoyment and entertainment. I would feel remiss, however, as an American, to not acknowledge the damage this presidential election process has done to our country, our families, and our “friends”. Never has an election so divided our country – except maybe when Abraham Lincoln was elected has it felt so weighted, and important.

I can only hope that maybe, within these pages there is something that can take you away – much like a good Calgon bath. Whether it is the color green and is now (potentially) legal to possess and partake – or something that will end up being more physical, like dance lessons at Arthur Murray or getting a bike at Back Bay Bicycles, let’s all try and forget the last year and get to moving forward!

Boston Comedy Festival Finale November 19 @ 8:00 pm SOMERVILLE THEATRE | $25

The finale includes both famous and soon-to-be famous comedians, the latter vying for the top spot of the Comedy Contest. The Comedian of the Year Award will be presented to Boston’s own Patty Ross. Patty has been on a roll with hilarious parts in the films Spotlight, The Heat, Grown Ups and The Three Stooges, to name but a few. The Boston Comedy Festival will also honor the great John Ratzenberger with the Lifetime Achievement Award. While he is best known (and beloved in Boston) for his iconic role as Cliff Clavin in the classic television series, Cheers, he is also the only actor to have voiced a character in every single Pixar film. Additionally, the films he has appeared in have a greater box office than any other actor, ever. David Zucker, who made the movie Airplane (& countless other comedies) will be honored for his Contribution to Film Comedy. Mr. Zucker created an entirely new genre of comedy, which continues to this day. The evening will conclude with 8 top comedians (who have beaten out literally hundreds), competing for the $10,000 and bragging rights that go to the Winner of the 2016 BCF Comedy Competition! Fresh off Gotham Live, comedian Jim McCue, “Boston’s King of Crowd Work”, will be hosting this gala comedy event. This show has sold out for the last 5 years at the Somerville Theater, so get your tickets now! (617) 625-5700 Somerville Theater • BostonComedyFestival.com

Elements Theatre Company presents Arthur Miller’s award-winning All My Sons, November 11-20. Cresting the wave of the world’s celebrations of Shakespeare’s anniversary, and following the successful and exhilarating production of his epic King Lear, we look toward a new face of theatre, impacted by Shakespeare. This November, Elements Theatre Company plunges into the work of another iconic voice in theatre - Arthur Miller’s award-winning play, All My Sons. Guest Director, Joanna Weir Ouston, teacher and director at the Oxford School of Drama and previously at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London leads this stellar cast, bringing to life this fascinating and profound play. In Post WWII America, the return of a family friend starts a string of events that leads the Kellers—a family crippled by loss, denial, and secrets - to exposure and painful consequences. This gripping, timeless classic is brilliantly written by master craftsman, and Pulitzer award-winning playwright, Arthur Miller. November 11, 12 & 18, 19 - 7:30PM November 13 & 20 - 3:00PM, gourmet lunch, 1:00pm (reservations required) Talkbacks with the Actors following performances on Sundays December 13 moderated by Dr. Jim Jordan December 20 moderated by Mr. Jeff Robbins Paraclete House, 5 Bay View Drive, Rock Harbor, Orleans, MA. Tickets: Call 508-240-2400, visit elementstheatre.org, or at the door. Discounts for Veterans, students complimentary.

“Everything about this production is awe-inspiring, from the intricate yet natural looking set to the wonder of the audience actually feeling as though they are part of the story…the acting is honestly superb. The theater’s professionalism, the talent of those involved … how easy it is to see how much both cast and crew alike care for the making of a splendid production that people are bound to remember.” - Broadway World “Elements Theatre Company is about more than entertainment: every piece they undertake explores the breadth of humanity — its horror, its loveliness, and its humor — with honesty. These actors hold up the mirror for themselves and in turn give us, the audience, the courage to look into that mirror too, and not shy away from what we find.” - JULIE HARRIS SEE OUR AD ON PAGE 13

When Emma celebrated birthday number 9, she and a group of her closest friends came in to try their hand at some SplatMaster Paintball. When she turned 10, she brought them back for Round 2. This year when her 11th birthday came around, Emma decided she was ready to take it to the next level. She and the girls would be celebrating for the 3rd year in a row with new Low Impact Paintball. Her mom said that she always wakes up the morning of her party and says - “this is my favorite day of the year!!”..... Not exactly the stereotypical player whom you imagined enjoying the paintball experience. Paintball has come a long way - it’s now more out of the woods and has new versions that are getting players as young as 8 years old into the game. SplatMaster gives the little ones all the thrill of the splat but with a spring powered marker, smaller paintballs and minimal impact. Low Impact is the great in between that allows players from 10-85 a chance to share the thrill of paintball with a little less ouch - smaller, lighter compact paintball markers with smaller paintballs and lower velocity make this the perfect fit for mixed groups, first time players and mid-level adrenaline seekers. Full on Dare Devils will still enjoy traditional paintball, in all of its glory fitting for celebrating the Bachelor or settling some friendly office or dorm room scores. There are 3 locations to choose from - all with a unique playing experience and walk on play as well as private group play is always available.
