Fair highlights include horse and ox pulling, draft horse tandem hitches up to eight, calf and pig scrambles, cooking contests, flower shows, exhibition halls of crafts, handiwork, photos, art, forest and wood products; a full museum of old farm equipment and memorabilia with live demonstrations; the “Little Red Schoolhouse” built in 1835; the milking parlor, firemen’s musters, sheepdog trials, tractor pulling, 4WD pulls and pari-mutuel harness racing on the Fair’s half-mile track. The Fair’s Specialty Foods Pavillion offers innovative food products made with local farm ingredients. The Expo Center features 9,000 square feet of commercial exhibits. Along with daily entertainment starting at 9 a.m. in the Fair’s six parks, these talented musicians and performers play and perform until the Fair’s signature Night Shows begin at 8 pm at the Grandstand. This year’s Night Show lineup - Monday night - The Mallett Brothers (Rock); Tuesday night - Sam Bush (Bluegrass); Wednesday night - Recycled Percussion (Rock); Thursday night - Brothers Osborne (Country); Friday night - Laura Bell Bundy (Country) and Saturday night - Krazy Jake (Maine Comedy). EDITOR’S NOTE

The time to put those summer clothes away has begun and the time to bring out the flannel shirts and sweaters is here. I don’t know about you – but there is no better place to be than the fall in New England. We hope we can give you a few suggestions on how to spend the upcoming weeks enjoying this splendor, both inside and out. Fall’s bounty brings Harvest Festivals, Fairs, pumpkin picking and patches – and a bit further down the road – every child’s, and quite a few adults too, favorite holiday Halloween. We can help you enjoy all of the above by checking out some of our advertisers in this issue. VOLUME 1 - NUMBER 13 SEPTEMBER 28

If you like cranberries, and really who doesn’t with a little soda, vodka and a lime? See how those little red balls of goodness grow, or is it flow – at the Cranberry Harvest Celebration at the A.D. Makepeace Company in Tihonet on the Cape. There’s music, wet harvest demonstrations, kid’s activities, cooking demonstrations and much more! If you feel like heading north – check out Maine’s Fryeburg Fair, for all of the fall fair fun you remember as a kid – animal demonstrations, big vegetables, concessions and more. Fall’s bounty also brings out the best local farms have to offer – check out Lanni Orchards and Stowe Farm for picking, cider, donuts, hay rides and more. Sudbury has a whole celebration geared toward the gourd of the season – check out Sudbury’s Pumpkin Patch. Speaking of the pumpkin – and its Halloween counterpart, the JackO-Lantern, Halloween starts early at Rock and Shock and Gloucester’s Hammond Castle can get you in the mood to get your spook on. Lastly – if all that outdoorsy stuff doesn’t quite fit in with your sensibilities, check out the Super Mega Fest – comics, guest appearances by the Karate Kid, Meatloaf and more, make this pop culture event a must for any fan. We hope you can find something that will get you out and into the season! As always – thanks for reading! Ann Marie LeMiere - Editor
