Get out and take a walk. Not just any walk, a very special walk – the MSPCA Walk for the Animals, this year taking place in Hyannis on Cape Cod. Nothing could be better than helping out our four legged friends; they make us all better at being human. Put on your walking shoes and head to Aselton Park on September 17 – bring the whole, including the four legged ones, family. Donate, adopt, spay and neuter – they deserve the best. Enjoy the coming of fall with Misquamicut’s Fallfest, where is that you say? Why it is Misquamicut State Beach in Rhode Island – fun fall festivities of all kinds await at this annual event that kicks off the season. Another great thing about this season, live theater once again abounds as new seasons kick-off with their inaugural productions. Support your local small theater – attend Sleeping Weazel’s new production, Cleanliness, Godliness, and Madness: A User’s Guide at Boston’s Boston Center for the Arts. So much still to do – get out before the crow, or snow, flies! Thanks for reading. Ann Marie LeMiere - Editor

You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of animals by participating in this year’s MSPCA-Cape Cod Walk for Animals on September 17 at Aselton Park in Hyannis, MA. Register today at www.walkforanimals.com! Chaired by Christopher J. Hedetniemi, the one-mile Walk will be held at Aselton Park in Hyannis on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 11am-2pm. This year there are more animals than ever before who need our help, and we’re not going to let them down. Protecting animals is a serious business, but this is a day when we all let our love for animals dissolve into pure joy! Sign up as an individual walker (or if you are out of town, register as a ‘cat napper’) or form a team! Register at www.walkforanimals. com and get ready for some serious fun! Get creative, get a little crazy, but most of all get going! If you start now you have the best chance to help the most animals. Encourage your friends, family and fellow animal lovers to do the same. Or urge them to support the cause by donating or becoming one of your sponsors. Sign up today and set up your own personal webpage to collect donations, email friends and family, and share photos and stories. You could win fabulous prizes, including: • FOUR tickets to the Patriots/Ravens game in December • Gift certificates to restaurants, spas, and retail stores • Brand new Bissel vacuum cleaner (made especially for pet owners) • Hand-made quilts and other home goods made by Cape artisans There will be activities for families and their dogs, including contests hosted by Spartan Race, Hot Diggity, and Agway of Cape Cod. Great prizes await for those winners, too! About the MSPCA-Cape Cod: The MSPCA-Cape Cod staff and volunteers care for more than 1,000 animals brought through its doors annually. Animals are given medical care and behavioral support, along with training activities to help manage their level of stress. No animal in need is ever turned away at our doors, as we are the only open-admission shelter on Cape Cod. One such dog is “Lassie.” Blind and deaf, 10 year-old Lassie came to us in abominable condition with a host of gruesome infections. Thanks to immediate veterinary care, an incredible foster parent, and the constant love and attention of her new family, Lassie has a new lease on life. We are very proud to invest so much in our animals, like Lassie. SEE OUR AD ON PAGE 2

When Emma celebrated birthday number 9, she and a group of her closest friends came in to try their hand at some SplatMaster Paintball. When she turned 10, she brought them back for Round 2. This year when her 11th birthday came around, Emma decided she was ready to take it to the next level. She and the girls would be celebrating for the 3rd year in a row with new Low Impact Paintball. Her mom said that she always wakes up the morning of her party and says - “this is my favorite day of the year!!”..... Not exactly the stereotypical player whom you imagined enjoying the paintball experience. Paintball has come a long way - it’s now more out of the woods and has new versions that are getting players as young as 8 years old into the game. SplatMaster gives the little ones all the thrill of the splat but with a spring powered marker, smaller paintballs and minimal impact. Low Impact is the great in between that allows players from 10-85 a chance to share the thrill of paintball with a little less ouch - smaller, lighter compact paintball markers with smaller paintballs and lower velocity make this the perfect fit for mixed groups, first time players and mid-level adrenaline seekers. Full on Dare Devils will still enjoy traditional paintball, in all of its glory fitting for celebrating the Bachelor or settling some friendly office or dorm room scores. There are 3 locations to choose from - all with a unique playing experience and walk on play as well as private group play is always available. Boston Paintball has become a staple in the Boston entertainment scene over the past 25 years and you can be sure that the memories you create with a little paintball adventure will last a lifetime. Since 1992, Boston Paintball has been the largest indoor playing facility in New England. Conveniently located off Rt 1 in Chelsea (5 minutes from downtown in Home Depot Plaza), we cater to players of all skill levels and specialize in first -time players. We can accommodate groups of any size and with advance planning and can run “tournament”-style events complete with teams, scoring, and event awards! Brand-new facility with 2 fields, staging area, seating and 180 feet of viewing. Additional facilities include the all outdoor facility located at 145 Powder Mill Road in Sudbury Ma and New England’s newest multi-use playing facility at 120 Pond St. in Ashland (Indoor & outdoor paintball). SPLATMASTER EXPERIENCE AT ALL LOCATIONS FOR AGES 8 AND UP as well as the new Low Impact version for players ages 10+. SEE OUR AD ON PAGE 12

CLEANLINESS, GODLINESS, AND MADNESS

What happens when a pair of zealous Christian homemakers scheme up MOTOREDE (aka The Movement to Restore Decency)? While spreading wholesome family values and guns for all to save America from moral ruin, Mary and Grace somehow find themselves in an affair—with each other! This is only the beginning of how far the devil will go to tempt perfectly decent citizens into a life of sin. Hilarious and chillingly suspenseful, Cleanliness, Godliness, and Madness: A User’s Guide takes audiences on a wild romp through the absurdity of right-wing fundamentalism via the rigid belief systems promoted by America’s beloved televangelists and politicians. You know the type: they’ll jump through any hoops to win the hearts and minds of their believers. Sometimes they wear a lot of spray tan too. Starring Stephanie Burlington Daniels and Veronica Wiseman, this play is a multimedia fiasco that asks, can we be saved? Stay tuned. www.sleepingweazel.com SEE OUR AD ON PAGE 15
