string around your finger remember the essentials

Beginning on the weekend of Jan 12–13, Pastor Joel Johnson will present an 11-week message series entitled, “String Around Your Finger.” This important series will be a study of the New Testament book of Second Peter. Written near the end of Peter’s life, the letter to believers emphasizes those essentials of our faith that must be remembered and held on to. “Don’t forget to remember the important things,” he seemed to be saying. In this series, Pastor Joel will highlight themes such as the resources available to us in Christ, assurance of salvation, doubts, discerning truth from false teaching, and eternity.

WESTWOOD COMMUNITY CHURCH Purpose Statement Vision Statement

The purpose of Westwood Community Church is to honor God by enjoying Him through reaching people with the love of Jesus Christ.

Our purpose and vision exist because:

We demonstrate God’s love in creative and compelling ways that lead people to know God, worship Him authentically, grow spiritually, serve joyfully and connect relationally. We are a community with open hands, receiving from God all He wants to give, believing He wants to give us a lot. And with open hands we give it away, believing we cannot out-give God.

We love God with all that we are, have and do. We love all people because all people matter to God.

This workshop imparts powerful principles and practical tools for equipping parents to address screen time, Internet, and cell phone use, and their impact on children’s values and beliefs. Weekend Services Saturday 5:00pm

Sunday 8:30, 9:45, 11:05am & 5:00pm

Worship Services Westwood services are dynamic and inspiring. As we express our worship to God, the music is celebratory though the style is varied. At our morning services (8:30, 9:45 and 11:05) you’ll experience a variety of updated traditional hymns, along with the songs of today. At our 5:00 Saturday and Sunday evening ELEMENTS services, the environment is relaxed and the music is a blend of soulful songs that are both relevant and reverent. All our services feature thought-provoking messages that present biblical truth that you can apply to your life.

The Saturday Night service was added this past year to help free up space on Sunday for our worship guests. Come experience a similar service to Sunday nights with music from Ben Rosenbush and the ELEMENTS band.

Students Services Westwood’s Student Ministry nurtures students in grades 6-12 to experience a dynamic love relationship with Jesus Christ. Our professional and volunteer staff model the journey of faith and life in Christ and encourage the students to journey further in their own relationships with God. Students are free to ask questions, challenge answers and experience God personally and honestly.

Children Services Westwood is a great place to be a kid! It’s a place where kids begin to discover their great big God and the world He created for them. A place where faith, learning and imagination go hand in hand. Faith comes alive as kids experience age-specific learning through exciting story-telling that is biblically-based, interactive music that gets kids moving and hands-on crafts that reinforce key Bible concepts!
