Categories
Category C - "Coastal waters". Category C watercraft are considered to be designed for wind speeds up to and including wind speed 6 and a significant wave height of up to and including 2 m.
Weststream boats are manufactured for category C.
The manufacturer's specification plate is located on the inside of the transom. Never exceed the maximum values according to the sign's specification.
Before using your new Weststream inflatable boat, find out if there are any local restrictions that need to be followed. For example. speed limits, noise level restrictions or general rules pertaining to boating.
1.5
To be able to enjoy boating life to the fullest, it is a must General rules are followed to maintain personal safety. Wear suitable life jackets for all passengers in the boat. Do not overload the boat with more weight than the boat's specification. If you are at least unsure, contact your dealer with your questions. Inspect the boat at regular intervals so that all equipment is functional and that any repairs are carried out by trained personnel. Any change must be made according to the manufacturer's standard. Make sure that all passengers are always in the boat. Keep in mind that an evasive maneuver or other changes in the boat's progress can jeopardize the safety of the passengers, always keep this in mind when traveling on water.
Never use alcohol or drugs when boating. See local rules for each country. Always prepare an extra passenger for how the boat and its engine work in case you encounter any complications. Keep the engine switched off when boarding or unloading. Always pay attention, according to law it is the skipper who has the main responsibility for the boat's progress in relation to other boats and surrender rules.
Use common sense when it comes to your relationship with other boats as well as water sports such as water skiing and tubing.
2. Specification and construction
2.1 Specifications
Declaration of conformity: Weststream inflatable inflatable boats under 2.5 meters are not covered by the regulations. The Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53 / EC Nevertheless, the regulations have been used in the design and manufacture of these boat models. ISO 6185 has also been applied to the design.
Weststream inflatable inflatable boats get their shape, strength and buoyancy by filling with air.
2.3 Maximum number of people
Warning
Be sure to follow the specification regarding the maximum number of people and the maximum total weight. No matter how many people step on board, the maximum total weight must never be exceeded!
2.4 Max load
Warning
All Weststream inflatable inflatable boats must not exceed the maximum load specification / boat model. Always load wisely and keep the center of gravity as low as possible.
2.5 Outboard engine
Never exceed the maximum specified horsepower number and maximum weight of the outboard to be used See table 2.3.1.
2.6 Detailed drawing
Weststream air valves are manufactured in the highest quality and for best function.
Functionality
• Remove the air valve cover.
• The valve is closed when the piston is in its longest / outermost position.
• Push the piston down with your thumb and turn it gently to keep it in the depressed position; the valve is open.
• Press the piston again and gently turn the thumb in the other direction to release a built-in spring; the valve is closed.
Connection of air pump
Connect the air nozzle from the air pump to the valve and turn gently to the right so that the connection remains.
• Pump in air Through the valve until the correct air pressure has been reached.
• When finished, gently turn the air nozzle to the left to release the grip around the air valve.
• Screw the protective cover back on
If the boat loses air, start by tightening the air valves using the supplied valve tool. This must be done annually because the material where the valves are located gives way over time
• Open the protective cover on the air valve
• Push the air valve tool into the valve and turn the tool clockwise by hand.
• If the air leakage is not eliminated, inspect the lower center section of the air valve for any debris.
• If the valve must be removed, remember to hold the nut behind the cloth, the pontoon must be emptied of air otherwise it is not possible to hold the nut.
• If a new valve is to be fitted, keep the old nut behind the cloth (in the pontoon) and screw on the new valve by hand with a little lubricant between valve and cloth. Detergent can be used.
The boat comes with a couple of oars. These can be disassembled for easier storage.
3.3
The tuft must be hung on the pontoons before the pontoons are fully pumped. Fill with approx. 75% air and then mount the tuft. Now the rest of the air can be refilled.
Before filling, lay the boat on the ground and roll out the boat in its full length. Watch out for sharp particles or anything else that can damage the fabric!
• Remove the protective caps from all valves Feel the piston of the valves if they are released, ie closed position. The valve must be closed for the air to remain during pumping.
• Sometimes it can be easier to roll out the boat with the valves in the open position as the boat becomes more malleable as the air can flow in and out. Do not forget to close the valves though.
Fill the pontoons with care so that the air in combination with folds on the canvas does not damage the boat!
3.4.1 Inflation order:
Fill with air in the following order
1. Begin to fill the rear tubes in half, then the front ones in half.
2. Then fill the rear to full pressure followed by the front.
3.Add the floor and inflate
3.4.2 Maximum air pressure values
Do not exceed these values!
Air pressure in the pontoons 3psi / 2kpa / 0.2bar
Air pressure for the air floor 10psi / 65kpa / 0.65bar
Important
Excessive air pressure in relation to recommended values can cause damage to welds and seams. Keep in mind that hot air expands, so if you inflate the boat in the morning, the air will, with the help of the sun's heat, expand during the day, ie too high air pressure.
3.5 Transom
Instruction around the transom in aluminum.
• Powder-coated transom
3.5.1 Air floor
Weststream air floor
All models with air floor have the following construction. Place the air floor uninflated in the boat
• Inflate the air floor to 50%
• Adjust the floor so that it fits between the tubes
• Inflate the air floor to 100%
• Do not exceed the specified pressure
Weststream double-acting pump is preferred. If an electric pump is to be used, make sure it has a pressure gauge.
3.7 Oars
• Insert the oar into the holder, lock the bracket
• Screw on the plastic nut (do not tighten too hard)
• Attach the oars to the Velcro strap
3.8 Engine installation
Danger
If the number of horsepower is exceeded, this can lead to serious injuries or death
The boat's stability can change in the event of incorrect installation.
The transom can cause heavy overloads that cause accidents.
The refractive power of an incorrect installation can cause the transom to drop from the inflatable boat.
Always use a dead man's grip on the outboard to increase safety on board!
Engine assembly
• Follow the manufacturer's instructions when installing an outboard on all Weststream boats.
• Use short rigs on all Weststream boats
3.9 Pack your inflatable boat
General information:
NOTE: The boat must be clean and dry before you roll up the boat for storage. Remove the air from all pontoons at the same time by opening all valves using the centered piston, see previous sections.
Open all valves.
When all valves are open, it is advantageous to roll up the boat so that all air is forced out. The air floor takes a little longer to empty and it has a high pressure.
3.10 Fold the boat
Fold in both side pontoons towards the center line of the boat so that the total width of the boat is equal to the width of the bag.
• Make sure the valves are open and roll up the boat
• The air floor is also rolled and placed in the small bag
3.11.1 Lift the boat out of the water
Use the handles or safety ropes on the side pontoons.
3.11.2 Towing the boat
If the inflatable boat is to be towed by another ship, the boat must be emptied on the outboard, fuel tank, etc.
Warning
- Never tow people in the boat
- Keep an eye on the tow line
- Always the towing vessel that is responsible for any damage to the towing boat.
3.11.2.1 Towing using towing eyes
Make sure that the towing is done with even pressure on the towing eyes. Adjust the length of the tug so that the inflatable boat has a good distance to the tug.
Drive only at low speeds so that any damage can be prevented!
4.0 Important information.
Always use dead man's grip if an outboard is mounted on the boat!
4.1 Checklist
• Check the pressure in all air chambers.
• Check the transom.
• Check that everyone in the crew wears a regular life jacket.
• Always instruct another crew member in how the boat works and how the engine is handled.
4.2 Stability and buoyancy
4.2.1 Loading
Always make sure that everyone on board sits down on designated plastics and that the captain has a clear view to drive the ship in accordance with current regulations!
4.2.2 Rowing
All Weststream boats are designed for rowing with the included oars.
4.2.4 Man overboard
If the accident occurs, you can easily get on board from the open bow (WS-C model). On (WS-S model) you can get on board again by having a rope attached to the front D-rings. Feel free to practice this under controlled conditions.
Important
If you are going to step into the boat at the transom, ANY ENGINE MUST NOT BE RUNNING.
Important
When driving at a higher speed with an inflatable boat, sharp turns should be avoided. Always wear a life jacket!
Lonely driving with a motor. Always try to sit as centered as possible and as far forward as possible to get optimal performance.
In the event of incorrect loading / loading placement, the inflatable boat loses its properties. Try to load the boat with cargo and people so that the boat has an angle of attack of a few degrees to the water surface, take into account wind and waves.
4.3 Warning
Air pontoon puncture
Weststream boats are manufactured with several air chambers.
Even if a pontoon / air chamber gets a leak, the boat will still have 50% buoyancy. Beaching
It is not recommended to drive up on the beach with the inflatable boat as the bottom cloth can be damaged in the form of wear.
Davit
If the inflatable boat is to hang in davits, D-rings can also be used.
Sunlight
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent degradation of the dinghy fabric. PVC is normally used in the Nordic countries, but if you are traveling south, Hypalon should be used to cope with the stronger impact of UV light.
High altitude use
Normal air pressure specification is 330 mbar at sea level. If the boat is to be used at a higher altitude ex. high up in a mountain range, lower pressure must be used so as not to damage the rubber boat's seams and welds.
5. Maintenance
5.0 General maintenance
Only use detergents for inflatable boats and fenders, ie PVC detergents.
Important: If you are unsure of what means can be used on your boat, contact your dealer!
If you are unsure how to repair an inflatable boat, contact professional help. It is possible to repair a puncture with the help of two component adhesives for PVC boats (alternatively Hypalon adhesives). Wash clean on the spot so that the glue can get the best possible adhesion. Apply ready-mixed glue on both surfaces, repair patch and inflatable boat. Let dry.
Repeat the procedure again with the application of ready-mixed glue on both surfaces, allow to dry so that the glue becomes sticky.
Carefully measure the patch on the intended place and press it. You only get one try, because it bites right away.
Let the repair dry for 24 hours before you pressurize with air.
Remember to wash the boat and let it dry before storing the boat in winter. Mold can form if there is moisture left in the boat. For long-term storage, the boat should not be folded so sharp edges can make the material brittle with leakage as a consequence.
7. Warranty
A. Weststream boats, have a 3-year warranty on all materials. Air floor and accessories have a 2-year warranty.
B. Otherwise, the respective country's complaint laws apply in the country where the boat is sold!
