Students in this class will take their ideas and put them into words. All ideas are encouraged as we build comfort in writing and sharing our work. Along with the basic rules of writing, we will also cover common core concepts such as brainstorming, outlining, comprehension, and personal style. All of this will be with examples of different creative writing styles for the students to choose and enjoy!

June 26 – 30 | Conversation

This course is focused on comfort with others. Conversation can be a challenge for anyone, so we will start with skills and styles of speaking that work with any situation. Along with these skills, we will also explore different types of conversations like one-onone talks, group discussions, and e-communications. As we learn how to practice these ideas, students are encouraged to bring their own conversation ideas to class!

July 17 – 21 | Academic Writing

In this course we will take the ideas and school assignments of students to learn more about writing styles reviewed by teachers. Our class will cover the basics of common core writing, plus more advanced writing skills including format, citation, and feedback. PARK RENTALS

Parks are for Enjoyment!

Organized use requires authorization from Parks & Recreation

What’s an organized use?

• Sports

• Special Events

• Bounce Houses or Tents

• Parties or Picnics using park amenities

Do I need to rent a park for a basic picnic of 25 people?

No, a group of 49 people or less will not require a park rental as long as there are no amenities requiring a rental. This includes but is not limited to bounce houses, tents or amplified sound. Otherwise you can just show up & use any available area, provided it has not been rented by another party.

How can I verify if a park is available for rent? Call the Parks & Recreation Department at 916-617-4620 to see if the park/picnic area you want is available for rental.

What is the park rental process?

All rentals require a minimum 30 days notice. Turn in a completed Park Rental Application to the Parks & Recreation Department. In certain circumstances, a Special Event (SE) Notification or SE Permit may be required. Both forms can be downloaded from the city’s website or picked up at the Community Center or Recreation Center.
