Southport Levee Trailhead

COMPLETED JUNE 2024

Funding of the property acquisition and construction were paid in part by the Habitat Conservation. Improvements include a plaza with a restroom, parking lot, equestrian staging area, ADA-accessible ramp to the crown of the levee, public art, shade, benches, and educational kiosks.

Southport Levee Recreation Trail

This project is at 65% design. At completion, the trail will provide a new 5.6 miles of class one bike trail along the crown of the Southport Setback Levee. The design of the trail was funded primarily by Prop 68 Community and Economic Enhancement Grant Funding. The paving of the trail will be funded by Community Project Funding/ Congressionally Directed Spending. Completed construction is anticipated summer 2025.

Westacre Park

Design and construction are fully funded by $7,843,000 of Prop 68 SPP funding. The project is at nearly 100% design. Improvements will include a new skate park and pump track, playfields, inclusive playground equipment, splash pad, restroom facility, walking loops, pickle ball and futsal courts, reflexology and mediation paths, and public art. Construction is anticipated to start in February 2025, completed by May 2026.

Bryte Park Master Plan Implementation

Bryte Park is currently at 35% design and design is expected to be complete by the fall of 2024. The design will include a new aquatics facility. In September 2024, the City was awarded 15 million dollars of grant funding for the project from the National Park Service’s Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Grants Program. The City cannot begin construction until a signed grant agreement is in place, which would likely not occur until November 2025.

Heritage Oaks Park Master Plan Project

Heritage Oaks Park is expected to be at 100% design by September 2024. The final park design plans and specifications will be released to the public to bid for construction in October/November 2024. The construction is expected to start in March 2025 and be complete by December 2025.

Proper practice will also be covered and musicians can expect weekly assignments personally designed to develop each student with the skills they desire.

The Adult guitar lessons are designed to give all musicians the chance to play and learn together. Bounce Houses or Tents Parties or Picnics using park amenities

Do I need to rent a park for a basic picnic of 25 people?

No, a group of 49 people or less will not require a park rental as long as there are no amenities requiring a rental. This includes but is not limited to bounce houses, tents or amplified sound. Otherwise you can just show up & use any available area, provided it has not been rented by another party.

How can I verify if a park is available for rent?

Call the Parks & Recreation Department at 916-617-4620 to see if the park/picnic area you want is available for rental.

What is the park rental process?

All rentals require a minimum 30 days notice. Turn in a completed Park Rental Application to the Parks & Recreation Department. In certain circumstances, a Special Event (SE) Notification or SE Permit may be required. Both forms can be downloaded from the city’s website or picked up at the Community Center or Recreation Center.

For more information, forms, or to reserve call 916-617-4620 or visit our rental page.
