MichelleMora'sstoryisaboutresilience, determination, and triumph over adversity. As a single mother working asanLVNattheHealthDepartmentin Hanford, her journey towards becomingaregisterednurseisnothing shortofinspiring.
Born into a family of eight siblings, Mora's upbringing was shaped by the sacrifices of her mother, an immigrant from Mexico, who toiled in the fields to provideforherchildren.Facingfinancial challenges, Mora's older brother dropped out of high school to work alongside their mother, while another brothersuccumbedtotheharshrealities ofganglife,leadingtoimprisonment.
Motivated by a desire to break the cycle of hardship, Mora promised her older brother that she would make somethingmeaningfulofherlife.
Despitenavigatingachallengingdivorce and custody battle, she became an LVN to support her kids.. She soon realized shecouldofferevenmorebybecoming aregisterednurse.

Mora's transformative journey took a pivotal turn when she enrolled in Lemoore College's nursing program. Here, she found a path to professional growthandasupportivecommunitythat became her second family. The college's flexible class schedules, offering both online and evening sessions, allowed Mora to balance her responsibilities seamlessly.
One obstacle Mora faced was her partial deafness, a source of embarrassment. Fortunately, the college's Nursing Director, Kathryn DeFede, guided her to the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) program. With DeFede's assistance,Morasecuredgrantmoneyfor hearing aids, enabling her to grasp medically technical terms crucial for her examsandfuturenursingcareer.

Now, Mora stands proudly as an infectious disease nurse at Adventist Health in Hanford. Her story exemplifies the transformative power ofeducationandtheunwaveringspirit neededtoovercomechallenges.
Mora fulfilled her promise to her older brother and found a sense of belonging at Lemoore College. In this place, dreams are realized, barriers are overcome, and success is achieved againstallodds.
KJ Ford, a talented wide receiver from Houston, Texas, madeasignificantleapwhenhedecidedtomovetothe small town of Coalinga. The move was driven by his passionforfootballandtheopportunitytoplayforthe Coalinga College Falcons under the guidance of Coach JustinBerna.
Residinginthecollege'sresidencehalls,Fordquicklyfound solace in the tight-knit community of Coalinga. The smalltown atmosphere provided a stark yet comforting contrast to his bustling hometown. It wasn’t long before he embraced his teammates' camaraderie and the local residents' welcoming spirit. The West Hills Community College District (WHCCD) is pleased to announce the selection of its new Chancellor, Dr. Robert Pimentel, who willsucceedDr.KristinClarkuponher retirementattheendofJuly.Dr.Clark served at West Hills as the Lemoore College president for five and a half years and the past three as the District's Chancellor, guiding the district through significant growth anddevelopment.
Dr.Pimentelbringsawealthofexperience in higher education and a deep commitment to student success. With an impressive academic leadership and communityengagementbackground,heis poised to lead WHCCD into a new era of excellenceandinnovation.Avalleynative, Dr.RobertPimentelhasdedicatedhisentire career to serving the Central Valley community.Forthepasttwoyears,hehas beenthePresidentofFresnoCityCollege, the largest community college in the region. Before this role, he served as the same institution's Vice President of Educational Services and Institutional Effectiveness. Before joining Fresno City College,Dr.Pimentelspentnearly18years with the West Hills Community College District, working in various capacities at bothcampusesandthedistrictoffice.

In a landmark act of philanthropy, the Tachi Yokut Tribe has fortified its commitment to higher education and cultural heritage by bestowing Lemoore College with a $3 million endowment.Thisgenerousdonationservesasthebedrockfor theinstitution'sNativeAmericanstudiesprogram,promisingto beabeaconofunderstandingandabridgebetweenacademic studyandculturalenlightenment.
The foundation's beneficence marks a historic collaboration that aims to preserve and promulgate the rich tapestry of Native American history and traditions. Students of Lemoore College will now have the extraordinary chance to immerse themselvesinthestudyoftheindigenouspeoples'storiedpast, culturalvibrancy,andthepressingissuestheyfacetoday.
