West Cliff Theatre Open Day We will be throwing open our doors once again to the local community on Saturday January 30th for our annual open day. This FREE event offers a wonderful opportunity to explore behind the scenes at the West Cliff, meet the Trustees, the Friends and the many volunteers who are essential to the day to day running of the theatre.

Our Open Day is also an ideal time to learn about the various voluntary opportunities available including Technical/Backstage and Front of House.

Totally Tina The Internationally acclaimed award winning show Having headlined the 2015 Glastonbudget Festival in May earlier this year (the biggest tribute festival of the year), TOTALLY TINA comes back to The West Cliff Theatre on Sunday 20th September! Totally TINA! is an award-winning tribute to the Queen of Rock and Soul, Tina Turner. Tina Turner is a phenomenon, having won 8 Grammys, sold over 200 million albums and more concert tickets than any other artist in a career lasting four decades. TOTALLY TINA! recreate the spectacle and energy of her live shows with a six-piece live band, four stunning dancers and Justine’s incredible impersonation of the Queen of Rock and Soul. We take you from the early days with Ike, and songs like River Deep, Mountain High, through Tina’s solo comeback in the 80s with her incredible cover of the Al Green classic, Let’s Stay Together, to her massive solo hits like The Best and What’s Love Got To Do With It. An Evening with Rick Wakeman

The Music and Anecdotal Wit of an Old Age Pensioner A Fellow of the Royal College of Music, Professor of the London College of Music, former Yes keyboard player, Watchdog presenter and renowned Grumpy Old Man, Rick Wakeman has led a rich and varied life. In his one-man solo show, he recounts hilarious and unlikely anecdotes from a career which has included musical collaborations with David Bowie, Cat Stevens and Elton John, as well as worldwide tours with his own bands, punctuated by displays of dazzling virtuosity on the piano. Based on the hit 1998 Adam Sandler film, this musical comedy takes us back to 1980s America where hair was big, shoulder pads were bigger still and Wall Street greed was good. Robbie Hart, a rock star wannabe, is a popular New Jersey wedding singer and is the life and soul of the party until his own fiancée Linda leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, he is distraught and takes his feelings out on all other weddings. Enter Julia, a waitress at the Touch of Class Banqueting Hall who Robbie begins to fall for. The only problem is that she is due to be married to someone else. Will Robbie ever find happiness?

The delightful D-Day Darlings have packed up their troubles in their old kit bag and are marching around the UK Performing their smash hit musical show The Songs that Won the War. The show is set in 1939 at the heart of wartime Britain and celebrates the music of this era by taking you on a nostalgic journey which is sure to evoke memories for all and have you singing along to classics such as We’ll Meet Again, Now is the Hour, White Cliffs of Dover, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and many more.....songs that will last forever, memories that will never fade. The Intimate Magic Tour With the Amazing Paul Daniels and the Lovely Debbie McGee Several years ago the most entertaining magic guy in the world, Paul Daniels, together with his wife, Debbie McGee, toured with a small intimate magic show and had so much fun they have decided to do it again. They will be bringing their night of bafflement and laughter up and down the country with a unique show that is definitely not to be missed.

The 90s Welsh answer to Elvis finally has his own tribute show! Expect all the hits, “This Ole House”,”Green Door”, “Oh Julie”... and loads of fun. “Whole Lotta Shakin’” – A tribute to a Legend. Starring Rebel Dean (BBC Casualty, West End, London Palladium) with live band and projection screen. The first half follows the steps to stardom of the young Welshman, through his early songs with his first band, recording studios, foreign tours, “ELVIS THE MUSICAL” and finally the “Oh Boy” television series. Narrated on-screen by his first manager Paul Barratt.

Supporting the West Cliff T heatre The West Cliff Theatre is run by a Registered Charity for the benefit of the local community with Trustees drawn from local people who have an active interest in the theatre. Run largely by volunteer staff, the theatre offers a varied programme of star names throughout the year whilst supporting local community and youth groups from across the Tendring and Colchester Districts.

The Stage Door Bar is fully licenced and opens one hour before all performances and during the interval. The bar is also available for private hires (subject to availability). Please be advised: Only food & drink purchased on the premises may be consumed in the stage door bar. We are sorry but we are unable to accept cards. Regular art exhibitions are staged in the theatre’s foyer.

Second Act Charity Shop 29 Frinton Road, Holland-on-Sea, CO15 5UH

In February 2012 the Trust opened Second Act, a hugely popular charity shop offering a variety of good quality clothing, jewellery, footwear, toys and books. The charity shop receives tremendous support from volunteers from the local community. All proceeds from the charity shop support the West Cliff Theatre.

Joining the Friends of the West Cliff

Gift Aid is a government scheme, for UK tax payers, to encourage charitable giving.

The FRIENDS OF THE WEST CLIFF THEATRE is a friendly voluntary organisation founded in 1987 and has nearly 600 members.

For every pound donated to the West Cliff Theatre, we will receive an extra 25p from HMRC helping donations go much further. Higher rate tax payers may also be able to reclaim additional tax.

The Friends celebrated their 25th Anniversary in 2012 and have provided tremendous support to the West Cliff raising well over £200,000 to purchase;

• a refurbished foyer • contributing more than half the cost of the purpose built storage facility The Friends hold regular social and fund-raising events, both at the theatre and elsewhere, and a regular coffee morning every Saturday in the Stage Door Bar from 10am to 12noon which is open to all. Many Friends also work as volunteer Front of House, Technical and Backstage Staff. Annual Membership is only £6 per person, joint membership for £10, family membership for £12 or a club, with a minimum of 25 people, can join for £15. Application forms are available from the theatre or by telephoning the Membership Secretary on 01206 824345.

The Theatre car park is FREE to show patrons but may become full quickly especially during daytime when the public are able to use the car park in return for a nominal charge. On-street parking is available nearby.

BOOKING FEE

A booking fee of £1 will apply on all ticket sales and reservations made online, over the phone or in person, whether paying by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. Prices that are displayed in this brochure include this fee.

NO SMOKING POLICY

Why do we need to charge a booking fee? Since the loss of our Council grant, and in order to provide you with the best entertainment possible, we need to charge a booking fee to secure our share of the ticket income.

We operate a No Smoking Policy throughout our building. This Policy includes the smoking of Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping.

On average, we receive less than 20% of the ticket price for the shows that you see at

Patrons who require their tickets to be posted should send a SAE. Alternatively we can post your tickets for £1.00 postage & handling charge.

We will try to resell tickets that cannot be used, however this will only be possible in the event that we are sold out.
