We’ve Only Just Begun A celebration of the Carpenters music and the spirit of Karen Carpenter. Karen Carpenter had a unique voice, so unique in fact that it has proven almost impossible to duplicate, its deep smoky emotional edge creating that uniqueness that is so hard to perfect. Now for the very first time in over 30 years the voice that melted a thousand romantic hearts lives again through Toni Lee, in the touring two hour concert show “We’ve Only Just Begun, the Carpenters Greatest Love Songs.”

Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Georgie Fame’s Yeh Yeh topping the charts, he will be hitting the road in 2015 with The Blue Flames. Well Really, Captain Mainwaring!

Everybody loves Dad’s Army. Even after 50 years it continues to pull huge viewing figures becoming one of the all-time classic ‘greats’ of television, also enjoying West-End success, a Royal Variety Performance, a national tour, and now a new feature film. David Croft and Jimmy Perry chose Frank to create the role of the wonderfully eccentric vicar who was always slightly tetchy as he tried to come to terms with the elderly platoon’s invasion of his beloved church hall.

Fred & Ginger The Story of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers The story of the great dancing pair of the thirties with some of the fantastic songs they introduced into their series of films. The show not only covers the eight great films they appeared in, but also coves the career of Astaire after Ginger left him to develop her own career. Songs include: Top Hat, Cheek to Cheek, The Continental, A Fine Romance, Night and Day, Change Partners and many others crooned by charismatic entertainer, Robert Habermann.

Only Men Aloud The Classical Brit Award winning vocal ensemble Only Men Aloud will be visiting venues across the UK in 2015 with their ‘On the Road’ Tour. Dietrich Letters is the stunning collection of songs by legendary Marlene Dietrich showcased by a timeless performer whose beautiful voice continues to captivate.

It showcases the best of young British jazz talent in a 7-piece band, under the direction of Rob Barron (Ronnie Scott’s All Stars). The music is wonderfully nostalgic, and carries a distinct theatrical hue. To paraphrase Marlene’s own final words in Touch Of Evil ‘It’ll be some kind of a show’.

The Searchers

Holiday Snap An Amateur Production presented by Clacton Amateur Dramatic Society Holiday Snap is a tale of comic predicament and mistaken identity, with real wit and style. A Portuguese time-share villa has been double-booked unknown to the company Rep, the myopic tippler Commander ‘Chitto’ Chittenden. When Mary and Henry arrive shortly after Eve and Leslie, Chitto manages to remain unaware that there is more than one couple on the scene.

The confusion is compounded when each couple mistakes the other for the servants! Henry seems to have the upper hand as he discovers that Eve is married, but not to Leslie, when his mother-in-law arrives and he has to bribe the other couple to impersonate his alibi, Sir Piers and Lady Marchbanks. Henry’s girlfriend, Mary, has to play the servant, much to her annoyance but it looks as though things might work out until the real Sir Piers arrives, followed by Henry’s wife. However, the final hilarious disguises donned by Mary, Perky, Eve and Leslie might just save the day!

Last year Joe and his twin brother Raynard opened a chip shop with the Dalai Lama in Skegness, called Batter Me, I’m Yours! But due to an accident with a pickled egg the Lama pulled out and opened a rival chip shop called the Dalai’s Deep Sea Sausage, which resulted in a surf and turf war, it was savaloys at 40 paces.... Supporting the West Cliff T heatre The West Cliff Theatre is run by a Registered Charity for the benefit of the local community with Trustees drawn from local people who have an active interest in the theatre. Run largely by volunteer staff, the theatre offers a varied programme of star names throughout the year whilst supporting local community and youth groups from across the Tendring and Colchester Districts.

The Stage Door Bar is fully licensed and opens one hour before all performances and during the interval. The bar is also available for private hires lunchtimes and evenings (subject to availability) with a variety of quality menus to choose from. Regular art exhibitions are staged in the theatre’s foyer. Registered in England No. 02002819: Charity No. 1001022

Joining the Friends of the West Cliff The FRIENDS OF THE WEST CLIFF THEATRE is a friendly voluntary organisation founded in 1987 and has nearly 600 members. The Friends celebrated their 25th Anniversary in 2012 and have provided tremendous support to the West Cliff raising well over £200,000 to purchase; • lighting and sound equipment, incl. new infrared sound enhancement system • carpets and furniture • stage curtains • refurbished toilets • a refurbished foyer • contributing more than half the cost of the purpose built storage facility The Friends hold regular social and fund-raising events, both at the theatre and elsewhere, and a regular coffee morning every Saturday in the Stage Door Bar from 10am to 12noon which is open to all. Many Friends also work as volunteer Front of House, Technical and Backstage Staff. Annual Membership is only £6 per person, joint membership for £10, family membership for £12 or a club, with a minimum of 25 people, can join for £15. Second Act Charity Shop 29 Frinton Road, Holland-on-Sea, CO15 5UH

In February 2012 the Trust opened Second Act, a hugely popular charity shop offering a variety of good quality clothing, jewellery, footwear, toys and books. The charity shop receives tremendous support from volunteers from the local community. All proceeds from the charity shop support the West Cliff Theatre.

The Box Office is open from 10am - 4.30pm from Monday to Saturday (closed lunchtime 12.30pm – 1.30pm) and 1 hour before performances. We accept all major credit and debit cards except American Express. Cheques should be made payable to ‘West Cliff Theatre’. Bookings should be paid for within five working days.

BOOKING FEE

A booking fee of £1 will apply on all ticket sales and reservations made online, over the phone or in person, whether paying by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. Prices that are displayed in this brochure include this fee. Why do we need to charge a booking fee? Since the loss of our Council grant, and in order to provide you with the best entertainment possible, we need to charge a booking fee to secure our share of the ticket income. On average, we receive less than 20% of the ticket price for the shows that you see at
