Rising to the occasion by tackling Alpha’s high-stakes production challenges Challenge: Alpha required a proactive supplier for its seismic racks, capable of maintaining a lead time of three days and managing three daily deliveries to meet their customer’s rigorous delivery schedule

Digital Payment Technologies (DPT) case study

Surpassing expectations on the production of high tolerance mechanical assemblies Challenge: DPT needed to solve a variety of issues with its payment cabinets including solar mount panel and internal component design refinements, surface finish failure corrections, and security improvements. The company also needed to increase supply from 20 to 180 cabinets per month.

Offered design for manufacturing at no charge and significantly improved the fabrication of the cabinets: - Redesigned a unique all sheet metal top-of-unit solar mount charging panel, with minimal simple welding, and self-fixturing that saved time, money, and improved effectiveness - Thermal Spray Coated heavy gauge steel with proprietary powder-coated sealer and topcoat—added years of protection - Designed the locking mechanism to exceed the customer’s 10-minute hand-tool break-in test to 14-minutes - Designed or redesigned a substantial amount of internal components for cost reduction, better fit, and improved manufacturability

Thomson Power Systems case study

Conquering complexity by navigating custom panel challenges Challenge: Thomson came to Wesgar with a unique project that included the manufacturing of 2,000 custom one-off panels ranging from quantities of one to 50 of each panel for data center cabinets. Each panel had a unique part-number identifier and had to be color matched to create uniformity of the finished cabinets. The project required a fast turnaround with a highly aggressive five-month deadline and variable delivery quantities over the length of the project.

Weatherhaven case study

Rapid turnaround on the production and assembly of Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) baseline shelters for DND Challenge: Weatherhaven had no production facility or infrastructure to assemble over 400 units, comprising of three unique SKUs of MSVD baseline shelters for Canada’s Department of Defense. The project was time-sensitive and already behind schedule.

Speedibin case study

Sustaining the environment with sturdy and efficient home garden composters that keep vermin at bay, produce soil rich in fertilizer nutrients, and abundant gardens Challenge: An environmental pioneer, Fred Francis, designed the first Speedibin composter in 1989 and the market rejected it. Thirty years later, his daughter, Joyce McMenamon, decided to relaunch a new and improved version of Fred’s early composter invention. Her challenge was to find the right sheet metal fabricator to work with her through the redesign process and produce a high-quality product at the right price.
