We will be closed on Wednesday 25 December and Thursday 26 December 2019, and on Wednesday 1 January 2020. On Tuesdays 24 and 31 December we will close at 6.30pm. At all other times we will be open normally, including Saturday 28 December when we will open from 8am to 12pm (dispensary 9-11am). Please watch for any last-minute changes to these hours which will be notified on our website. At all times when we are closed please call 111 if you require urgent medical attention. Please note that on Saturdays our phone lines are closed and we cannot see urgent cases.

Changes to the Doctor Team

We are sorry that Dr Martin Twine will be leaving us at the end of December. We welcome Dr Tisha Patel to the team; she will take over Dr Twine’s list and will be working her full sessional commitment from February 2020. We also welcome Drs Gulabi Noory, Kate Avery and Muhammad Uddin who will be joining us as GP registrars: these are doctors who are undergoing specialist training in general practice.

Flu vaccine

Flu vaccine is available free of charge for all at risk groups. This includes everyone aged 65 years and over; people living with long term conditions such as chronic lung and heart disease; pregnant women; carers; and children aged 2-3 and all primary school aged children. If you are eligible and have not yet been vaccinated, please speak to Reception to book an appointment. It is best to get vaccinated before flu starts circulating.

Urgent Care Service

We have changed the name of the Same Day Service to Urgent Care Service to emphasise its key aim which is to provide timely access and support to all those who have an urgent health care need. This service is for the whole of Westongrove and is based at Wendover Health Centre. We warmly welcome our new specialist lead nurse Mariam who has joined the urgent care team. If you have an urgent care problem, first of all please see if you can get the help you need from online sources such as NHS Choices, or from local pharmacies. If you need to speak to a nurse or doctor please call the Health Centre and give details of your problems to one of the Reception team, who will arrange a call back. A face-to-face appointment can then be arranged if necessary.

We wish all readers a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year! This space paid for by Wendover Health Centre.
