You Write “The Seasons of England”

“The Seasons of England”, an evocative theme for a concert, transported the delighted audience from Spring through to Winter by way of the words and music of some of England’s best loved poets and composers.

13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK. Chiltern Foodbank is one of the four hundred Foodbanks across the country working with local people to help those in their community in need. Food is donated, collected and sorted by volunteers. Those in need are identified by front line professionals, such as GP’s and Social Workers, and referred to their local Foodbank distribution centre. Here more volunteers offer support and distribute emergency food for a limited period of three days.

The characteristics of the seasons were expressed by a miscellany of emotions. Some pieces encompassed pleasurable anticipation, some joyful celebrations, others wistful longing and haunting memories.

Dave Worrall from Chiltern Foodbank said “These young people have made a real difference to their local community and made a real contribution to helping those most in need.”

The imaginative idea of Barbara Courtenay-King brought together her husband, Bill McGillivray, and four other talented friends to perform in a very enjoyable fund raising concert in support of the Wendover Choral Society.
