The Brief Design an innovative new product for the ‘Blox’ product range to be sold in Wilko Stores across the UK. The concept should be supported by in-depth research into your chosen field.

Areas to consider • Additional play factor • Encouraging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) • Storage solutions & play on the go • Bettering the “How to Build” communication • Increasing collectability • Bettering EQ & encouraging social play and building as team Key Points • The concepts should be gender neutral.

• The concepts should be able to be manufactured at a Wilko price point.

• The concepts shouldn’t replicate any market leading branded products.

• The concepts should not be kit designs unless it has new point of different/innovative features.

Research Led Brief Sleep beat: “Train your brain with sleep Beat”

The Brief Design a product which possesses qualities which aid people who suffer from insomnia.

In a survey 74% of insomnia patients said they would consider taking sleeping pills to help them sleep. This product utilises binaural beats as a non-medicinal cure for insomnia.

BPMA Brief BPMA: “Stay hydrated and stress free”

Design a new promotional item or gadget that companies can use which has their brand or logo on it. Your design needs to reflect an innovative approach to this, however, there is no reason that traditional favourites like the pen, mug or mousemat can’t be altered in some way to include another feature that exists separately, but not yet in combination with the pen, mug or mousemat. Production costs must not be higher than £2.50 +VAT, based on 10,000 units, and this can exclude moulds and set up costs. The product must have a reasonable life cycle, as a product that can only be used once or a few times will be less cost effective. the design must be as environmentally friendly as possible. Moreover, the product must be safe to use, and must not endanger the user’s health.

Sponsored by RPC Design Using plastic as the primary material design a 5-litre pack for motor oil that allows for easy dispensing of the contents without needing any separate utensils.

the design of the “Clip up� oil dispenser revolves around being able to use one container to carry around any amount of oil that is needed, without always taking a 5 litre product. The dispenser is made up of 5 different components, each containing ridges that allow them to clip together with the other components. this allows you to choose the size of the dispenser you want to take
