hello FROM KRISTI
And
just like that, the season is coming to a close...for some of you, anyway. For many, it’s just the start of a new season, the ConvertedTexan season. You see, there are a whole bunch of former Winter Texans who decided you liked South Texas so much you wanted to stay! And that’s why we gave you a name of your own. Converted Texans. Whether you’re long-time Converted Texans or just getting ready to spend your first summer in the Rio Grande Valley--and even those of you who will still be here April 11--I’d like to invite you to our annual Converted Texan Fiesta at the Hynes Event Center at Llano Grande for happy hour, lunch, and entertainment by Leslie Blasing. Tickets will not be sold at the door, so you need to reserve them online on our website (welcomehomergv. com) or by calling our office at 956-687-5115. At Welcome Home RGV, we love our Converted Texans as much as we love our Winter Texans. and we are looking forward to celebrating you April 11! • We’re just connecting the dots,
Kristi

uring the final stretch of the South Texas Winter-Texan season, a luncheon was held March 1 to honor unsung heroes of the Winter-Texan community--park activity directors. Southern Comfort in Weslaco hosted the Activity Directors Appreciation Day get-together, and approximately 125 activity directors from 40 parks were honored with door prizes, live entertainment, and Welcome-HomeRGV goodie buckets. “I commend you all for what you do!” said Vicky Rosado, Southern Comfort park manager, when she addressed the crowd. “I know from experience you all wear a lot of
for park activity directors hats!” Vicky paid special recognition to Southern Comfort’s co-activity directors, Mary and Lee Benfield, for creating an exciting season at the park after surveying park residents. It’s a labor of love for Mary. “We love this park, so we really want to make it a happy place to live,” she said. Activity directors diligently work hand-in-hand with park managers and supportive volunteers to ensure visitors to the Valley have a great time. Taking into consideration the needs of park residents, they plan events, outings, and tours throughout the season.
