“Operation: Scare ‘N Share” Provided by the Norton Family WELLS The Norton’s are at it again! Originally known for their “Crazy Christmas Contest” started in 2006, brothers Stan and Jon Norton have also been presenting “Operation: Scare ‘N Share” since 2010. The extravagant Halloween lighting display in the front yard of 213 Canterbury Road in Wells runs the week before Halloween through Halloween night. The week-long event is also an opportunity to give back to the community as a can
drive to collect canned goods for the local food pantry. If you wish to donate, drop off your items in the buckets found onsite.
Every year the shows have been improved with more lights and technology. In 2007 the Norton’s upped their game with dazzling, high-tech computer
animation and in 2008 they introduced their first “Light-ORama” computer boards which annimate the lights to music. This program and an FM trans-
mitter allow visitors to hear the music through their own car radio when tuned to 88.9 FM. “We love people’s reactions to our yard, and people drive for miles to see the displays,” wrote Stan Norton on his website: www.nortonlights.com. For anyone who enjoys such festive presentations, be sure to mark your calendars for their annual Christmas show that will begin the first weekend of December and will run through Christmas night. For questions, email Stan at stan.norton@nortonlights.com.

staff. Local first responders and various dignitaries, including state representatives, local politicians, and school board members, also attend the celebration. Last year, over 400 guests were in attendance. All guests form a reception line at 8:30 a.m. and every student passes through the line shaking hands and welcoming the guests. The reception line emphasizes a personal touch for every student to come in contact with the guests.
After everyone gathers in the gym, the Civil Air Patrol student Honor Guard will post the Colors and for the next hour several tributes are presented from the students to our veterans in musical selections, video presentations, and readings. After the assembly, there is a luncheon in the cafeteria where the students serve and dine with veterans and guests. Following the luncheon, veterans are invited to stay and share their stories with the eighth
graders in the classrooms. The public is invited to attend this special day that honors those who serve.
