Coloring Flowers

•Slit the stems of white carnations. Place into water with drops of food coloring. Enjoy watching the transformation of colors.

Creating A Flowerbed

-Purchase a block of green foam from a craft shop. Trim to fit into a vase with a wide opening.

-Cut the stems of the florals at an angle and place firmly into the foam, about 1” deep.

Angle some stems around the foam to cover it from being seen.

-Gently place the foam with the florals into a pan of water to saturate.

-Wrap a large green leaf around the inside of the vase. Place the floral arrangement gently into the vase.

DECORATING IDEAS:

•Air Drying: arches and doorways to rooms.

-Trim unwanted petals and cut to the desired height.

-Secure the stems with a rubber band and tie to a hanger so that they hang upside down.

-Hang the flowers in a cool, dry, dark place for 2-3 weeks.

•Buy a large bouquet of cheap flowers e.g., carnations. Divide the flowers, adding greenery if desired. Place into flute vases and position on counters or deep window ledges, consoles or entryway tables.

•Silica Drying:

•Cut greeneries from garden bushes. Arrange

-Let the flowers sit in the container for a few days.

-To speed up the process of drying in silica sand, place flowers into a microwave safe plastic container and cover with silica sand. Cook for 30 seconds. Keep in silica sand until fully dried.

To clean a vase: •Soak with water and bleach / vinegar.

•Buy a string of silk flowers. Attach as chains decorate ceilings and doorways.
