Innovation and technology – on our side. MOWERS

MADE IN SLOVENIA

SIP SILVERCUT MOWERS AND CONDITIONERS The Silvercut is a modern professional mower, designed for the larger farmer or contractor. The cutter bar, in combination with the continuous hydraulic relief, ensures excellent adaptation to terrain. The robust main support frame of the machine ensures high rigidity and optimum power transfer from the tractor to the cutter bar. The Silvercut model range covers the rear mount 300, 340 and 380; and the front mount models 300 and 340. A new release for the range is the 300 Trailing Mower Conditioner. The Silvercut Triple’s model ranges are 800, 900 & 1000 with or without conditioner. Like all SIP mowers, the cutter bar has the following features:

Double raced bearing on the cutter bar shafts

Hardox bottom skids for longer life

Mowing discs are constructed from high quality steel

Quick change blades

Direct drive onto the cutter bar, no inside skid

SIP DISC DRIVE SAFETY SYSTEM (DDSS) In the event of disc overload, four brass shear-pins absorb the force of the foreign object impact. This leaves the cutter bar, spindle shaft and moving disc intact. The repair and replacement of shear-pins take 10 minutes with a cost of only $25 that has you back working as normal.

We’ve got a SIP Silvercut 340 on the back and a Silvercut 300 S-Flow on the front, which is a fantastic mower for our topography, and just contours amazingly. Geoff Clarke, Dairy Farmer, Southland

SILVERCUT TECHNOLOGIES FINGER CONDITIONER Durable plastic or steel Y shaped fingers reduce damage to grass and help maintain higher nutritional values. The use of finger conditioners reduces risks due to bad weather, shortens the drying process and enhances the quality of the forage. Conditioning also reduces the energy needed by up to 10% for preparing and harvesting the forage.

SILVERCUT TECHNOLOGIES HYDROPNEUMATIC SUSPENSION The hydropneumatic suspension system ensures a precise cut and clean high quality forage. Easy and hassle-free mowing on all types of terrain and in all conditions. The relief rate can be easily and quickly adjusted before and during mowing.

S-FLOW S-FLOW linkage is based on the innovative design of the mower mounting cutter bar. The response of the linkage system not only guides the cutter bar perfectly to the terrain but, in combination with the hydropneumatic suspension, ensures even ground pressure and a clean cut across the field. Excellent kinematics leads to perfect adaption to the terrain. This provides efficient mowing and lowers contamination of the fodder.

Stockiz Contracting Southland SIP Star 1250/50 Four-Rotor Swather Rake

Lumsden is a small town, rich in history and surrounded by fertile farmland, which makes up large amounts of the surrounding Southland region. It’s also the home base for Stocki’z Contracting, a specialised agricultural business run by original owner Vaughan Stock and new shareholder Mike Baucke. With five tractors to keep busy, the Stocki’z team have a range of SIP mowers, rakes and tedders… and they certainly keep them busy, churning out between 25,000 and 30,000 bales a year. “We get a bit more in a good season and, if we get a good spring, we’d like to see that going up,” Vaughan says. “We do mainly baling work, with some groundwork to carry us through September and October, so it’s grass and oats mainly, not a lot of whole crops.” Stocki’z uses a variety of SIP gear, supplied and serviced by Webbline Agriculture, including an SIP Silvercut 1000 triple non-conditioning disc mower and an SIP 815 eight-rotor tedder, but the latest addition is an SIP Star 1250/50T four rotor-rake – one of the first in the country with the new four-rotor set-up. “We work on some decent-sized farms and didn’t see the sense in going around and around in circles, which is why we got a four-rotor rake.” Vaughan explains that the way the rake performs over a range of different terrain is also beneficial. “I’ve used it a few times and its didn’t take long to get used to it. The computer is really simple to operate too, which is great,” says. “And when I have baled behind it, it has worked really well. Because the working width is hydraulicallyadjustable, it allows for a spread of between 9.90m and 12.5m, which is easily managed without leaving the cab, but the rear rotors can also be adjusted on-the-fly, allowing the central swath width to be increased from 1.3m to 2.2m while working, if required. “We could have gone with a number of other products, but we went with this on price initially, and we’re really pleased with what we have got,” Vaughan says.

A quick look at the Rylib Group website says a lot about the way the company operates. Principles and values – ranging from health and safety to respect and integrity - are parts of a key message delivered to both staff and customers so, when they repeatedly invest in machinery to run their operations efficiently, the reasons behind their choice come with a considerable amount of credibility. Across the business, the group milks just under 5,000 cows on 1,200 hectares across six farms in the Mid Canterbury region, including Ma Taua Dairies where Murray Bowden is farm manager. “Across the group, we aim to grow 18 tonne of grass per hectare per year,” he says. “Being efficient with our water and our effluent is key to all of that, as well as maintaining quality in our grass, which is where the mowers come in.” The SIP mowers he’s referring to are used to mow just on 3,000 hectares across the business annually, which is twoand-a-half full rounds of the milking platform. Over the past few years they’ve shown their preference for the SIP models and have invested heavily in new models, continuing to trade back a handful of earlier versions on updated products in order to keep their farms running smoothly and efficiently. “We chose SIP mowers because they’re easy to maintain easy to teach the guys how to operate and they have key features like being able to put the mower on and off easily without any major problems. “We look to get at least two to three seasons out of our mowers and, because they’re easily maintained, we’re regularly keeping their maintenance up, which is a key to our reliability.” Murray says that a part of the necessary maintenance comes during mowing when a machine strikes a foreign object, fracturing a shear pin on SIP’s Disc Drive Safety System, which is designed to protect the cutter bar and gears. “When the shear pins go on the discs, we find they are really, really easy to change, and any of our staff members are able to actually make that happen,” he says. “If a shear pin goes, we only look to be down-and-out for about half an hour, and we’re back into mowing, so it’s a really fast turnaround.” When it comes to Webbline, the Rylib Group principles play a large part, with Murray highlighting the important and valued link between customer and supplier. “At Rylib Group, we look to build key relationships, and with the team down at Webbline, they’re the guys we turn to with our mowers because they’ve got really good stock of anything we may need or require, and their service guys are prompt and knowledgeable about the machines they’re selling us. “We just find them so reliable. We can’t go anywhere else.”

MOWERS

SIP DISC ALP MOWERS SIP Disc Alp mowers are a lightweight side-disc mower with a fully welded cutter bar. They are simple to operate, whether hitching on and off or mowing. The double-spring suspension means the mower follows the ground contour much better than with a single spring, as the inner spring supports the heel of the cutter bar while the outer spring supports the other end.

“The SIP mowers are very solidly built, the operators love them, they are easy to use, and their ability to float over the top of contour just gives us a great result.” John Nicholls, Farm Owner, Canterbury Six Dairy Farms, 5000 cows, Six SIP Mowers

TEDDERS

SIP SPIDER ROTARY TEDDERS The quality of forage depends on two factors: precision of working and drying time. That is why tedders are a significant part of the hay harvesting process. Advanced technology, simple use and manoeuvrability are essential for an even and optimum spread of forage. With tedding the forage will dry quicker and more evenly. Just right. Achieve clean tedding along boundaries and don’t allow the crops to be wasted by spreading over the border. Models with an HS (Hydraulic Steering) - system are standard, equipped with a hydraulically spreading system. All wheels are centrally controlled and can be turned to the left or to the right side. This setting helps you both for tedding along the boundaries and also for collectied the fodder when the crop is small. MADE IN SLOVENIA

Why our customers love SIP... We bought our SIP mowers for the simplicity and the wide cut. They’re built really well, they’ve got good flotation, and have a really good quality cut as well. The extra width too, has been well worth it. Just that extra metre and the extra hectares in a day, it’s made it much more efficient for us. The extra output during the day is just phenomenal. Allan Chapman, Contractor, Canterbury

I’m really impressed with my SIP mowers. They seem to cut well, and cover the ground well. Originally I bought a rear mower but I was so impressed that I’ve now bought a front mower too. It does a pretty amazing job; I’m really happy with it. I can’t speak highly enough really, it contours well, and they’re very easy on maintenance. It’s really compact, and easy to use. Harley Churstain, Farmer, Southland

We just wouldn’t be able to do a good crop of silage without our SIP tedder. With the rotors being smaller, they tend to ride out and not actually dig into the ground as much, therefore not damaging pastures, and not as hard on the machine. I’d definitely recommend these machines to anybody and I would certainly look at buying another SIP branded maching in the future. Jeff Strang, Contractor, Waikato

We actually own six SIP mowers. We’ve owned many types of mowers, but the SIPs are very solidly built, the guys love them, and they’re easy to use. Their ability to float over the top of the contour just gives us a great result. They are fairly simple to use and, because they are such a sturdy product, we haven’t had any other issues. John Nicholls, Farmer, Canterbury

The SIP mower follows the ground contour superbly well. I can change the weight on the bar between different paddocks quickly thanks to the SIP flotation design. This has eliminated the scalping problem I had with my earlier mower, and leaves a far superior finish. I have reduced my wastage because the silage is far less contaminated and the cows are doing better out of the feed.

We think the SIP mowers are a really well built mower, and pricewise they’re very competitive. It’s been a great, sturdy mower and it puts up with everything we’ve been able to throw at it so we’re really impressed. Hitching it up to the tractor is really easy and, along with the maintenance and quick change blades, all that stuff makes for a pretty effective easy mower.
