The heat from the driest Summer since 1976 has cooled and the darker evenings of Autumn have quickly arrived, children are back to school and all is back to normal it seems!

As the last At Home in the West Country magazine went to press we were fast preparing for our west country property exhibition which was held in Guildford in mid May. Since then we have seen a continuation of buyers wanting to migrate westwards for a preferred pace of life; the on going ability to work from home and to enjoy the natural beauty and leisure pursuits that the wonderful West Country has to offer.

Our area which covers mid Cornwall to west Somerset encapsulating the rugged north coastline has seen a brisk Summer market with prices remaining at record highs. Some of our offices are reporting a 20 25% growth on prices year on year in the upper quartile with competitive bidding and many premium homes being sold by informal tender or “best bids” As prices have remained so high, many of our sellers at the upper end have taken the opportunity to downsize and liquidise their asset achieving many financial accomplishments in the process which would otherwise not be possible in any “normal market” The ability to top up a pension pot or buy another investment property to derive income has been high on the list.
