With just the three going to post, it was Nicky Henderson’s Jingko Blue who picked up the win. Ridden by Nico de Boinville, the then six-year-old was very well supported, going into the race at a very short 4/9F. Building on his prior success at Uttoxeter in December, Jingko Blue raced in second throughout the early goings and despite a mistake when jumping the eighth, he took the lead following a mistake from Lowey’s Bar three out and once in front, never looked like relinquishing his position.

Lowry’s Bar recovered well from his mistake though and the seven-yearold trained by Philip Hobbs & Johnson White took home the silver. Rounding out the field was Johnnywho for Jonjo & A J O’Neill and the eight-year-old never looked like challenging.

With last year’s meeting abandoned, 2024 was the last running of this contest. Emma Lavelle’s My Silver Lining was surprisingly not particularly fancied in the betting coming into this contest. The mare had been having a fantastic season however, scoring at Wincanton in October followed by backto-back seconds at Exeter and Sandown and so came into this contest in top form.

Regular jockey James Best was onboard the eight-year-old here and raced prominently throughout. After clearing the 19th fence, she took the lead and never relinquished it from there, pulling three lengths clear ahead of the last. Dan Skelton’s Galia Des Liteaux was quickly narrowing that gap however, finishing very strongly but My Silver Lining was always doing enough to hold onto the win by three and a quarter lengths.

This success was followed by a second in the Grand National trial at Haydock the following month.

FOOD & DRINK

In the interests of safety and the comfort of others please do not carry drinks on to the steppings of the stand, or the areas adjacent to the parade ring or unsaddling enclosure. Under no circumstances are picnics allowed in any of the enclosures.

BEHAVIOUR AND DRESS CODE The Racecourse reserves the right to refuse admission to all enclosures or to eject any person from the racecourse.

When patrons are refused or ejected from the racecourse they will not be entitled to a refund. When leaving the Racecourse please be considerate of our neighbours and do so in a responsible manor. The dress code is smart casual.

Whilst we always endeavour to take appropriate steps to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is, therefore, important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. We employ Safety Officials whose job it is to ensure your safety. In the event of a situation which requires a partial or full evacuation of the Stands, announcements will be broadcast and the Officials will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your belongings with you and proceed out of the enclosure quickly and quietly under their guidance.

The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area.

It may give you peace of mind if you preplan and agree a meeting place with your party, just in case you become separated. If we are unable to re-occupy the Stands for any reason, you will be advised immediately, and, if it is considered safe to do so, you will be invited to return to your car or coach.

These are precautionary arrangements which we trust will not be required.

However, in the event of an emergency please remember; Take your belongings with you and under direction of the officials proceed quickly and quietly to the safe area then to your agreed rendezvous point or to your car or coach.

HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE

The Racecourse would be grateful if you would observe all Health & Safety requirements whilst you are at Warwick. We would also request that only those that are disabled use the disabled viewing ramp and that parents keep a close eye on all children and prevent them from climbing the running rails and getting on to the actual racecourse.We would also like to remind racegoers that the first aid room is located within the 1707 building.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Warwick Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team.

Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
