Newbury Racecard - Saturday 12th February

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to Betfair Super Saturday, one of the highlights of Newbury’s Jump Season.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your patience regarding the refurbishment of the Long Room Bar and Kitchen on the first floor of the Berkshire Stand, which will be out of action until the Spring. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and if you would like to see what the planned changes will look like, the team on the Ground Floor reception will be able to show you the revised layout which we are very excited about. Annual Members will continue to be able to access the Lockinge and Carnarvon Rooms during this period.

We have a fabulous day of racing ahead of us, which is often the last opportunity to watch some potential Cheltenham Festival contenders in action before they line up in less than five weeks’ time.

My thanks once again extend to Betfair who this year celebrate their tenth year of sponsorship of this prestigious card and helping to make it one of jump racing’s best days. The Betfair Hurdle, worth £155,000 continues to be the richest handicap hurdle in the UK and is supported by a highly competitive card; including the two chase races in the Denman and Game Spirit, both of which have been won by some jumping legends.

Racegoers are encouraged to head over to the Betfair Daily Rewards Zone located in the Grandstand Enclosure, giving over 18’s the chance to win some exciting prizes on the spin the wheel, or even relax in the massage chair with a quick shoe shine! Hot drinks and comfy seating are also supplied in this zone so it is well worth a visit.

Finally, don’t miss the return of jumping heroes and Betfair Super Saturday winners, Altior and Native River who will be making their first public appearance since retiring last season! They will be parading in the paddock between the Denman Chase and the Game Spirit Chase at approximately 2.35pm.
