As always, we have a great afternoon of racing in store, kicking off at 2.05pm with The Haydock Park Apprentice Training Series Apprentice Handicap Stakes, which takes place over a mile. The last runners and riders of the afternoon will be off at 5pm

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who are supporting racing today, including Shape Engineering, who sponsor the Handicap Stakes over six furlongs at 3.15pm and also the race at 4.25pm which is being ran in memory of Barry Wilson Senior We wish them all a wonderful day here at Haydock Park

Over the coming weeks and months we still have plenty fixtures to look forward to, including the Rose of Lancaster Carnival on August 11th & 12th The weekend will kick-off with a great evening of racing on Friday, followed by what is set to be an incredible evening of entertainment with the one and only Nile Rodgers & Chic. Saturday the 12th of August, which features the Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes, is also our annual Ladies’ Day. This week we announced that The Buyers Club Clothing are our official partner for the day’s Style Awards and we’re really looking forward to welcoming them, and all of you, to the racecourse. DANZART has had an excellent time of things since being refitted with a hood and would have been right in the mix but for ending up with so much to do here 2 weeks ago, so he remains one to be interested in. PRINCE ALEX has been lightly raced in recent years, but he showed that he retains his ability when fourth at Newmarket on his second run for his current yard in May. The 6-y-o is now 4lb below his last winning mark and can get the betterofRavenscraig Castle, who has returned to form on his last 2 starts. Quantum Leap also merits consideration. TIMEFORM PREDICTION:

VETS SCREEN POLICY

We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.

IMPORTANCE NOTICE TO ALL RACEGOERS

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet. If you cannot produce this, your bet will not be accepted.

This could go to one of the two newcomers, with INCA QUEEN chanced over Crown Dreams before market clues. Dark Desire needs keeping an eye on in the market as she was prominent in the betting when pulling up lame on her course debut last summer Utilis sets the standard and this is easier than the 0-105 Newcastle handicap he ran poorly in on his return.

NIGIRI shaped really well in unfavourable circumstances at Wolverhampton last time and Ralph Beckett’s filly is taken to make a successful handicap debut. Streaky Bay returned from a year-long layoff with a win at Yarmouth earlier in the month and can go well again from only a 2lb higher mark, whilst Princess Naomi is also respected if able to shrug off a rare poor effort.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
