SIR DAVID PROSSER TROPHY TO BE AWARDED TO MOST SUCCESSFUL EPSOM TRAINER
The Sir David Prosser Trophy celebrates the achievements of the most successful Epsom-based trainer from the 2022 racing season. The trophy was named in Sir David Prosser’s honour on his retirement from the non-executive board of Epsom Downs in 2013. Sir David made an enormous contribution to the development of the racecourse over many years and remained a loyal supporter of Epsom Downs and the local training community until his passing in March 2020. Adam West leads the way with 24 winners so far and Michael Attwater is his closest pursuer in second place with 13 winners. Brett Johnson is not far behind on 11 winners, with Jim Boyle on 10 and Simon Dow and Pat Phelan each with 8 winners. Standings as of 26th July 2022. Trainer

The Sir David Prosser Trophy championship for 2022 runs from 5th November 2021 to 4th November 2022. Epsom Downs is home to nearly 180 horses in training. These horses have access to six miles and 250 acres of top quality training surface along the Surrey Downs. We are very proud of the training grounds here on Epsom Downs. Racing is part of our heritage and we want to ensure that we keep the Downs as a prestigious training ground and encourage further business from trainers and owners in the future.
