After a very wet week, the forecast for this evening is to remain dry, so I hope that you will be able to venture out of the warmth of the grandstand to view the horses and enjoy the racing.
We have seven competitive races tonight with the 8.00 pm race – The Full On Fullworks Novice Stakes – looking a particularly interesting contest.
There are eight four-year-olds in the race, two of which are unraced and all eight have only had fourteen runs between them, yet they are deemed worthy of keeping in training.
First Dynasty is by American Pharoah, Polemon is by Frankel, Lady Loulou cost €340,000 as a yearling and Special Forces has won his only start. If these horses are able to fulfill some of their potential tonight, the race may well throw up a horse to follow for the future.
I hope you have a lovely evening.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
This could be a good opportunity for BAWAADER to complete the double. The Aytach Sadik-trained inmate romped home by seven lengths in a similar contest at Kempton last week and, despite conceding weight to his rivals, should prove difficult to beat. Sirius White recorded a first career success at this course earlier in the month and looks the chief threat now up to 1m, ahead of Twistaline.

A dual-winner early last year, TWISTALINE had been heading back in the right direction prior to underperforming at Wolverhampton last time, but she could well leave her latest run behind dropped back down in grade. She is taken to get the better of Bawaader, who arrives here in good form having won at Kempton last week. Sirius White completes the shortlist.
SILKY SMOOTH justified favouritism when staying on well to win on his handicap debut at Southwell last month and a 6lb hike in the ratings is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Crocodile Roll returned to form with success at Kempton and could prove the main danger after a small rise by the handicapper. Carouselle and High Court Judge may have more to offer now making their handicap bows.

SILKY SMOOTH won with a fair bit up his sleeve on his nursery debut at Southwell 16 days ago and, with that form proving strong, a 6lb rise doesn’t look enough to prevent the follow up. Crocodile Roll is feared most ahead of Manuha.

Brains is likely to prove popular after returning to winning ways in the reapplied blinkers at Kempton last month, but he may prove worth taking on after the handicapper has put him up 8lb. MAWKEB finished four lengths behind the selection that day and, after receiving a small rise in the ratings for his recent win over C&D, could gain his revenge now 6lb better off. Fellow last-time-out winner Boafo Boy completes the shortlist.

Dalby Forest has gone close to breaking his maiden on several previous occasions and is a key player in a race of this nature. However, the three-year-olds get a handy weight-for-age allowance and it might be worth chancing YESTERDAY’S HERO making a winning start at this level. LADY LOULOU is the only one with a previous run over this trip and the daughter of Dark Angel, a €340,000 purchase, can use that experience to her advantage. She’s shaped with promise so far and the fitting of cheekpieces can help. Special Forces has to concede weight but is respected nonetheless, despite needing to overcome a 151-day absence. SPECIAL FORCES looked a good prospect when mastering a dual subsequent scorer on debut at Wolverhampton last summer and, with progress anticipated, James Tate’s 4-y-o is fancied to make a bold bid to make it 2-2 with the step up in trip expected to suit. Lady Loulou and Casa Luna may emerge as the chief threats.
STAR OF ST LOUIS has really turned a corner of late and his most recent win at Lingfield marked a fourth win in six starts. The six-year-old scored over C&D last August and he can see off the likes of Eltham Palace and Eagle Eyed Freddie, who has been knocking on the door of late. Laurentia and Persian Wolf can also have a say in proceedings.
