9 Form guide 10 Age 11 Weight 12 Stalls Position

Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.

Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

Brando was the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday, 17th September, 2016.

HOW TO BET

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.

3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

• Fewer than 3 runners all on to win

• 3 or 4 runners 1/5 odds a place 1,2

• 5 7 runners (inclusive) 1/4 odds a place 1,2

• 8 or more runners 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3

• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3

• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4

• Handicaps with 22 or more runners 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4

All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only

RACE RESULT DISTANCES

POET’S DAWN finally rewarded his followers with a tenacious win at Beverley last month and he could be difficult to overhaul once more, with his rider’s 7lb allowance a further positive. Course specialists Tommy G and Merricourt can never be confidently ruled out here and both are capable of being in the mix. Shaladar has posted his best efforts when delivered late on the scene and is another that adds spice to this contest, especially now dropped back in trip after his latest effort at York.

WATER OF LEITH makes a return to turf following a respectable run on the all-weather earlier this month. Jim Goldie’s charge finished a decent fourth in a competitive handicap at Ascot on his penultimate start and he merits the utmost respect on his return to the track that he won twice at in August. Pearl Of Qatar also has a good record here and can be feared, while the unexposed Maple Jack completes the shortlist.

JUMP THE GUN was denied a clear run numerous times in the Silver Cup here last Saturday and may gain some compensation, with this extra furlong likely to suit. Five-time course winner Gweedore is sure to give another solid account off a career-high mark having won here on his latest start. Although Love De Vega has been a beaten favourite on his last two starts, there was plenty to like about his Ascot run earlier in the month and he arrives here on the same rating.

2ND 3RD 4TH TIME

Although SCOTTISH DANCER has yet to get off the mark in seven outings, he appears to have been found an ideal opportunity, following his recent second at Newcastle when improving for a step up in trip. Tomorrow’s Angel stayed on well to finish third at Ripon last time and has been dropped 1lb in the meantime. Satanic Moon was a disappointing favourite at Thirsk in June, but has been freshened up since and looks the type to relish this extra yardage.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

HORSE CARE AT AYR

At every race meeting at Ayr there are three specially qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action.

During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the Medical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys.

The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses especially those returning after a race.

MEDIA COVERAGE & RECORDING FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES

All Attendees (which for the purposes of this clause also includes horses and for the avoidance of any doubt includes families with children) are reminded that many races and fixtures are given coverage on television, radio and in print and various other forms of media. By entering the Racecourse Attendees are accepting they may appear in such coverage which may also include printed or electronic material used for the promotion of the Racecourse.

Accordingly, Attendees shall have no right to object to their inclusion in any much coverage whether produced by the Racecourse or by third parties authorised by the Racecourse.
