HHH Has contested the last four runnings of this prize, resulting in form figures of 1R57 (refused to race in 2019); last two wins came at handicap level; half-length second in the competitive Victoria Cup back here last month (7f, good), running very close to his best; could go well again but looks unlikely to regain his Queen Anne crown aged eight. HHHHH The world’s top-rated turf horse, who has made spectacular progress since his debut last June, most recently justifying short odds in the Lockinge at Newbury where he easily beat Real World and completed a Group 1 hat-trick (first two legs came in last year’s Moulin and here in the QEII); acts on good to firm and good to soft ground, still unbeaten (7-7) and has genuine claims to being the best miler since Frankel, with 1m2f aspirations for him also on the cards later on; looks set to produce another display of sheer class. HH Ballydoyle horse; won the Breeders’ Cup Mile in 2020 (firm) and defied top weight in Curragh Group 2 last summer; placed in the Jacques le Marois and behind Baaeed in the Moulin later in 2021; has plenty of smart form away from his home soil, therefore, but has underperformed in two British runs, including in this race last year (finished only eighth); bit to prove back here. HHHH Proved well suited by the return to turf in the Lockinge at Newbury where he was no match for Baaeed but kept on well for second, taking form figures on grass to 111112; his wins in this sphere include last year’s Royal Hunt Cup at this meeting (1m, good to firm) and Group 2 events at Longchamp (very soft) and Meydan (good); holds very solid claims behind Baaeed and should go well again. HHH Losing run goes back to handicap success at this meeting in 2020 and he finished behind some of these rivals, albeit not disgraced, in the 1m Lockinge (good) most recently; fully exposed but largely consistent and ran well (finished third) in this race last year; again likely to give his running. HH Very useful mare who was successful in soft-ground events at this course (handicap) and Pontefract (Listed) in 2021; also won on good to firm; effective back on good going in Sandown Group 2 on reappearance, though had little to spare and had a smoother trip than the runner-up; faces a stiffer task upped further in class. Race Summary:

This year’s Queen Anne is all about BAAEED, who quickly developed into a star miler last year and enhanced his reputation further still with a reappearance success in the Lockinge in which he impressively flexed his class. On the figures he’s improving, which raises the goosebumps-inducing possibility that he can produce an even more magnificent performance. Real World is unlikely to reverse Newbury placings with the selection but he looks rock solid for another silver medal. The battle for third place looks quite open but Chindit is taken to fill that position and repeat his Lockinge effort. Race Predictor: ACCIDENTAL AGENT
