On the Road with Shared Branching SPRING/SUMMER 2021

During a year marked with the closing of doors, Shared Branching kept doors open for credit union members. Despite the servicing restrictions put in place during 2020, the Shared Branching Network processed over 4 million transactions. The strength and importance of shared services shined as the embodiment of the People Helping People philosophy.

Last year, nearly 18 percentage of all transactions processed through the Ohio Shared Branching Network occurred outside the state. This number will increase as members look to put mileage on their odometers this summer. The importance of financial access through physical banking locations centers around the necessary functions not offered through online accounts.

Credit unions look to consistently stand out from the crowd, offering unique and innovative benefits to their members. Shared Branching stands as a cornerstone of these benefits by providing thousands of safety nets for members across the nation and abroad. As we move forward with the pavement beneath our tires and our eyes on the road, Shared Branching will be there for our members regardless of how many routes they choose.

SEE YOU ON THE ROAD! One could not have imagined that when Marty Auxter inherited the seedlings of Shared Branching in 2001 Ohio would turn into the highest outlet provider in the nation. But this is the legacy and toil of Marty’s 27 years with the OCUL Services Corporation. Starting with just 6 participating credit unions, he successfully fostered Network growth to 126 credit unions with over 400 Outlets.

Marty credits the success of the Ohio Shared Branching to the 6 original credit unions who took a leap of faith and joined the Network when it was created. Ohio Healthcare Federal Credit Union, KEMBA Financial Credit Union, Credit Union of Ohio, BMI Federal Credit Union, Telhio Credit Union, and Wright-Patt Credit Union are the forefathers of the Ohio Shared Branching Movement. We are grateful for their commitment, and that of the other 103 credit unions in the Network today, to Shared Branching and the cooperative nature of the credit union industry.

It is an understatement to say that Marty’s presence will be missed within the Ohio Shared Branching Network, and at OCUL Services Corporation. His experience, knowledge, drive, and support of the credit union movement is not easily matched. Marty looks forward to starting his next chapter on April 30 and has big plans for fishing, boating … fishing and boating. Did we mention that he plans on a lot of fishing and boating?
