FROM THE BOARD

RETIREES & INTROS The Board of Trustees welcomes new Trustees Caesar Naftzger and Sheryl Nolan. Both have been elected for a three-year term beginning with the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Caesar Naftzger attended Wichita Collegiate School from fourth to eighth grade, after which he transferred to a military academy in Charlottesville, Virginia. He graduated from Southern Methodist University and has worked in the financial services industry for the past 16 years. He is President and Owner of Riedl First Securities, a financial investment banking firm, and is an approved General Securities Principal, Municipal Securities Principal, and Financial Operations Principal. Caesar is married to Michelle and has two children at Collegiate: Christina ’19 and John ’23. He enjoys attending many of their activities, especially cross country, dance team, tennis, and robotics competitions. He can also be seen working in the concession stand with Michelle during football season. In his spare time, Caesar enjoys going to the movies, playing pickle ball, Peloton, traveling, and spending time with his family. Sheryl Nolan received a BA in Economics and Business with an emphasis in Accounting from Hendrix College and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After working for Siemens Energy and Automation in Arkansas and Georgia, she moved to Wichita to marry husband Andy Nolan, and worked for Case New Holland before she decided to stay home to raise sons Charlie ’22 and James ’28. Sheryl stays actively involved in the community by volunteering her time. She has been a member of the Junior League of Wichita for the last 17 years and served on the board of directors as both Director of Finance and Director of Strategic Planning. Sheryl has chaired various Collegiate Association of Parents (“CAP”) committees, such as the Valentine Surprise and Poinsettia Sales, as well as serving as CAP President. She is also currently CoChair of Friends of the Library. She is very excited to be able to serve Collegiate on the Board of Trustees. The Board expresses sincere appreciation to Basil Hourani, who is retiring after serving on the Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2018. He held a variety of roles, serving on the Finance and Facilities Committee for the past seven years,

as well as Secretary of the Board and the Executive Committee for two years. He is currently a member of the Head of School Search Committee. Two years ago, Basil worked on a committee alongside WCS staff advocating for students being able to study Spanish consistently in all four divisions and attain proficiency by graduation. Additionally, Basil and his family have been generous supporters in creating the Upper School Innovation Lab. Although Kathryn Lammers only served on the Board of Trustees for two years, she had significant impact. During those two years, Kathryn was an engaged and passionate supporter of WCS, serving on the Development Committee and chairing the committee during the 2017-2018 school year. In that role, she worked with staff to formalize a donor appreciation program. Along with her family, Kathryn’s support for the Lammers Middle School Innovation Lab was critical in bringing opportunities for creativity to each Middle School student. The Collegiate community will miss Kathryn and her family as they move to Minneapolis. The Board of Trustees thanks Sylvia Orozco-Do for serving as a Trustee since 2009. During her nine years on the board, Sylvia served on the Development Committee for eight years and the Trusteeship Committee for three years. She has been an advocate for diversity in the Collegiate community and is always willing to get involved in a project to improve the school. Sylvia and her family have been loyal and generous donors over the years and have opened their home to host Collegiate events on many occasions. We thank Sylvia for her hard work and passion for WCS. She has an infectious love for the school that will be missed! Trustee Amelia Sumerell Schlatter retires from the Board after nine years of loyal service. She served on the Trusteeship Committee for seven years. During her time at the school, Amelia has acted as a tireless promoter of Wichita Collegiate School in our community, encouraging families moving to the area to consider sending their children to WCS. During the 2012-2013 school year, as part of a special board effort, Amelia exceeded the efforts of all other trustees, inviting dozens of local business people to the campus for a tour. The Board thanks Amelia for her positive attitude and support for so many years. 41
