Patrons enjoying an afternoon at Rolling Hills Water Park

Spend your Summer in the Parks!

The Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission has provided outstanding programs and amenities to residents and visitors since 1973. What started with five roadside parks and undeveloped land in Lyndon Township has grown to a nationally recognized park system offering a wide range of recreation opportunities. The County Parks celebrated its 50th anniversary last year which provided us with an opportunity to reflect on your years of support and patronage.

Staff has been busy planning an amazing 2024 summer experience for all ages offered throughout Washtenaw County.

We’ve compiled a list of ideas for you to enjoy at the parks this summer…

• Hiking with friends and family at one of our parks or preserves

• Golfing at Pierce Lake Golf Course in Chelsea

• Biking, jogging or walking the B2B Trail

• Taking a blacksmith or jewelry class at Michigan Folk School

• Going for a picnic at one of the County parks

• Taking the family to Rolling Hills Waterpark

• Swimming and boating at Independence Lake

• Playing disc golf at Rolling Hills Park or Independence Lake Park

• Learning the art of archery

• Joining a fitness class at Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center

• Taking the family camping at our Family Campout

• Fishing at Independence Lake Park or Rolling Hills Park

• Taking a yoga lesson in the park

• Shooting hoops, playing pickleball, or badminton at Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center

Enjoy your summer with us! Visit washtenaw.org/parks for more details.
