Overview Even though the economy has taken a toll on large companies in the last few years, many continue to recognize the positive effect employee health and satisfaction has on productivity. People are working very hard, so hard in fact, that many just settle for a corner store sandwich at their desk for lunch. Studies have shown that because we do not take the time to refresh our minds and bodies, not long after the lunch hour our productivity greatly decreases. As the economy strengthens, companies will begin to use corporate dining options as recruitment tools. By offering dining options, companies are showing employees that they support a “healthy” food service program which not only provides convenience, but also piece of mind that the companies do care and are looking out for the best interests of their employees.

Our Approach Our goal is to provide planning and design services that support corporate beliefs and that will be utilized by our client’s employees. When determining what fuels a dining facility’s success, we must think about what is important to its customers. Often, this will include key components such as fresh, sustainable, local, organic, vast, convenient, fast, and affordable. Today, more than ever, in order for employees to patronize corporate dining facilities, they must meet or exceed the standards of food and beverage options found in neighborhood eateries. We can then help our client to develop an operational strategy that will assure they can continue to run their foodservice facility successfully.

“Show me a design trend in the commercial marketplace, and I’ll show you examples of where design suiting emerging trends has been accomplished in many business and industry applications. The quiet and conservative corporate cafeteria of the 60’s has given way to vibrant new food and beverage themes from around the world and facilities that mirror that excitement…from Euro Cafes to Noodle Shops to just plain, great food and beverage served in wonderful, ambience filled spaces!” ~ William Caruso

Project Highlights One of the most creative and exciting services William Caruso & Associates (WC&A) offers is the development of concepts. In recent years, business and industry has become increasingly forward thinking in its dining options. WC&A has worked on some outstanding projects, creating corporate dining facilities that are inviting to employees and extremely successful.

Devon Energy Corporate Headquarters Concept

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Along with an exceptional change to Oklahoma City’s skyline, a fresh food marketplace located in this building will have a positive impact at the street level. The marketplace, along with the “Six to Ten” café, will be available for Devon Energy employees and guests, as well as public users. Unique elements in the fresh food marketplace are multiple display cooking and assembly “action” serving stations, including a short order grill and a specialty stand that varies in offerings from ethnic foods to sushi, a deli, pizza and pasta station, soup and salad bar, and desserts. The “Six to Ten” café will also offer coffee, cold beverages, prepackaged snacks, and sundries throughout the day, in addition to a to-order hot meal take-out service.

DaVita Corporate Headquarters Concept Denver, Colorado

Located on the 14th floor in downtown Denver, DaVita Corporation employees will enjoy views of not only downtown Denver, but also of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This facility will feed approximately 1000 employees a day with a catering component for large corporate events. The dining facility has five different stations offering a variety of foods including a deli, grill, soup, and a salad bar.

Project Highlights Adolph Coors Brewing Company Headquarters Golden, Colorado

A number of programming studies followed by detailed foodservice design were undertaken for four foodservice sites throughout the headquarters’ brewing complex at Coors Brewing Company. Bi-weekly site meetings and a detailed Owner/Contractor review process ensured top-quality results for all foodservice facilities at the multiple sites. Additionally, new caterer RFP preparation and contract negotiation services were provided by WC&A, assuring highquality operations and increased revenues to the owner from the foodservice program.

Sysco World Headquarters Houston, Texas

Hynes Development and Sysco hired WC&A to plan and design the new foodservice facilities for its world headquarters campus located in Houston, Texas. Facilities included a large warehouse, dry and cold storage units, cafeteria kitchen and servery, restaurant facilities and a show area, and a research laboratory for educational and demonstration purposes. All work was completed on an accelerated time basis within all time schedules and project budgets.
