Development focus:

Aerodynamics With speeds over 350 km/h during a MotoGP race the shape of the shell has to meet special aerodynamic requirements. By redesigning the shell into a longer shape we created a racing helmet that allows for a much higher stability at top speed. Result of the new development: -3% Lift -10% Drag -50% Shaking (compared to X-Spirit II) The rearflaps The airflow around the helmet is optimized through integrated spoiler components together with a new, elaborate shaping of the shell so that turbulences were largely reduced.

Two different rearflaps are available (the wide version is included). Replacing the flaps allows an individual aerodynamic adaptation to different route characteristics. The rearflaps have a positive effect on stability at high speed as well as wind resistance.

Ventilation

Massive air throughput with six intakes and five outlets have been designed and adjusted in shape and position according to the highest racing demands. By a careful positioning of the outlets a very good ventilation is provided even when the visor is shut. New to the X-Spirit lll is the ventilation of the cheek pads that is being regulated through a separate channel in the chin ventilation. The ventilation channels integrated into the EPS core ensure both, the supply of fresh air and the removal of used air via separate ducts.

Perfect fit

Thanks to the outstanding aerodynamic characteristics of the shell we were able to design a racing helmet with an enormously convenient fit. SHOEI‘s innovative angular adjustment system allows the user to change the position or angle of the helmet on the head by up to four degrees in the vertical. The field of view can thus be enlarged - even in a bent over racing position. Possible disturbing elements in the upper field of view move further upwards and thus largely out of the field of view. The angle of the helmet can be changed by up to four degrees by changing / shifting the position of the push buttons in the neck area, the centerpad and the cheek pad (two positions are available).

And as if these extraordinary features were not enough - the X-Spirit lll is the first helmet on the market to have a center pad in a modular design. Thus, the fit of the helmet in the upper head area can precisely be adjusted at six different points to the needs of its wearer. Furthermore, the helmet can be adjusted in the cheek area by the use of

cheek pads that are available in four different sizes (31/35/39/43 mm). The surface quality of the pads allows for a superb wearing comfort as well as a highly functional sweat absorption and transportation, making the helmet feel dry at all times. Four different helmet shell sizes (XS/S, M, L and XL/XXL) provide a perfectly adjustable fit as well as a well-balanced coherence between the helmet shell and the size of its wearer.

Safety

The helmet‘s outer shell consists of the SHOEI known AIM + (Advanced Integrated Matrix) material mix. In total, there are six layers of both, organic and multi-composite fiberglass, which has both excellent stiffness and high shock absorbency. We also rely on proven technology in the EPS liner. It consists of different styropore elements with different degrees of foam hardness. By doing this we protect the most vulnerable areas of the head more accurately than with, for example, a one-piece EPS liner.

A standard at SHOEI is E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick Release System). With the help of the red tabs on the lower edge of the cheek pad, they can be pulled out of the helmet and it can be easily removed in the case of an accident or an unconscious motorcyclist. The huge field of view of the CWR-F racing visor (ready for the use of a tearoff) is unique and allows full concentration.

The mounting of the tear-offs as well as the one for the Pinlock-EVO visor are one unit with a complex mechanism ensuring that both, the tear-off foil and the Pinlock EVO system, can be tensioned. The visor locking system locks the visor both, via a pin and a slide. Of course, as a typical feature of every racing helmet, a double-D closure is used in the X-Spirit lll.

Young generation The fresh and aggressive appearance of the RYD with exceptional color variations is tailor-made for the young and modern generation of motorcyclists who come from the surroundings of motorcycles such as the Yamaha MT-07. Despite its lower price, compared to the SHOEI model „NXR“, the RYD also has completely removable and washable 3D preformed inner pads. In addition, the RYD model also features the QR-E visor mechanism and the CWR-1 visor with a large field of view that has already been successfully used on the NXR and X-Spirit 3 models, as well as the latest generation of the Pinlock EVO visor. Three lockable ventilating inlets on the chin and forehead as well as two permanent outlets at the back provide a balanced climate inside the helmet.

Open face comfort The J-Cruise is the high-quality solution for the open face helmet rider and offers many equipment details one would not expect in this segment. It is incredibly comfortable and quiet while riding, which is mainly due to the large and first-class CJ-2 visor, the use of special earpads and the perfect 3D-shaped centerpad. Of course, maximum safety was our major goal and we pursued it with a multi-layered AIM helmet shell and a multi-part EPS liner with different densities.
