Wayzata Public Schools serves more than 10,000 students and employs more than 1,300 staff, including teachers, support staff, principals and administrators. The district includes seven elementary schools (K-grade five); three middle schools (grades six-eight); and a high school (grades nine-12).

The district’s vision, “A Model of Excellence Among Learning Communities,” is made possible by the work of outstanding staff and unparalleled community support. Our vision to become a “model of excellence” is not a tagline, but a belief that is pursued in our classrooms, schools and departments every day.

Our middle schools offer a strong academic program in traditional subjects plus art, world languages, family and consumer science, music, physical health, technology and engineering technology design. Students and staff are organized in teams to create small communities for learning.

Our elementary schools offer a strong, technology-linked curriculum. Literature-based reading integrates phonics and word-recognition skills. Specialists for art, media, physical education, Spanish, vocal music and special needs serve each school.

Wayzata High School offers among the most rigorous graduation requirements in the state. Students choose from a full range of English, fine arts, world languages, math, science and social studies courses as well as technology courses offered in the school’s 29 computer labs. More than 25 Advanced Placement courses are available for students. Special education programs across our district serve students with disabilities who qualify under the state of Minnesota eligibility criteria. In addition, a program for gifted and talented students offers enrichment activities in every building.
