CLUB HISTORY Abbey Hulton United Football Club was formed 73 years ago in 1947, making it one of the oldest formed clubs still playing Saturday football in North Staffordshire. During its very early days the club played on Council land in the Abbey Hulton area. It continued to use this facility for the first 15 years, despite the fact that the changing facilities were more than a mile away from the actual pitch. In 1962 it was decided that the team should move to the Parks facility at Bucknall Park which was complete with its own changing rooms and showers adjacent to the pitch. What a luxury. The team continued to use Bucknall Park for another 23 years, until 1985. During the period from 1947 to 1985 the team played in many local junior leagues such as: • The Longton League • Fenton and District League • Burslem and Tunstall League • Newcastle and District League They graced all the above leagues with great distinction. Over the years the club became more financially stable and grew in ambition. Finally in 1985 they acquired a piece of land at Birches Head Road on which it was able to obtain a 99 year lease. This is the clubs current address. Immediately, a clubhouse was built containing a bar and changing rooms for both teams and officials. At the same time an outside 5 a-side football facility was built, complete with floodlights. Having moved to this new facility the club opted to join the North Staffs Alliance League. It completed in this leauge before seeking election to one of the top leagues in the area, The Staffs County League (North), in 1987. The team played in this league and finally had a momentous season in 1997-1998 by winning the league, the cup and also the fair play award all in one season. Having achieved this feat the club applied to join what is the top junior league in North Staffordshire, the Staffordshire County Senior League. In 2017 Abbey Hulton United won the Staffordshire County Senior Premier League Championship and were promoted to the North West County Football League.

WELCOME TODAY TO

stockport town fc Stockport Town Football Club began life back in February 2014 and developed a first-team squad in preparation for the 2014/15 season. The club, lead by manager, Calum Sykes, proceeded through a campaign of friendly fixtures and the club's first ever non-competitive match came against Stalybridge Celtic on 12th July 2014, and despite losing 5-0 at Stockport Sports Village, the club had begun its journey. The club, nicknamed The Lions, competed throughout the 2014/15 season against first teams and reserve teams from many different clubs including; FC United of Manchester, Ramsbottom United, Fleetwood Town U21's and Norwegian outfit, Rolvsøy IF. The Lions endured a successful first-ever campaign competing in 35 fixtures home and away ending with statistics of Won: 17, Draw: 8, Lost: 10. The club also completed a 13-match unbeaten run in the middle of the campaign between 13th July - 13th October, including 9 victories. In May 2015 the club was accepted into Step 6 of the Non-League Pyramid and joined the North West Counties Football League - Division One. The club's first ever competitive fixture came on Saturday 8th August 2015 away at Hanley Town, a match in which Stockport were victorious 3-2, and in doing so recorded their first ever competitve win. On 15th August 2015 the club competed in their first ever competitve match at Stockport Sports Village, with their opponents on that day, Widnes FC securing a 2-2 draw in front of a then record crowd of 78. Stockport competed three competitions in their first ever league season including the NWCFL, League Challenge Cup and Cheshire Senior Cup. The club progressed to the semi-finals of the League Challenge Cup before a 3-1 defeat to Barnton FC at SSV, meanwhile Hyde United knocked Town out of the Cheshire Senior Cup in the Preliminary Round. As the season came to a close Stockport secured a playoff spot in the First Division with a match to spare in the NWCFL. Town came up against Bacup Borough FC in the playoff semifinal at SSV but were defeated 2-0 as Bacup progressed into the 2015 First Division Playoff Final. During the 2016/17 season, Stockport Town got off to a poor start with 6 points from 6 matches, this proved difficult to turn around up until the New Yaer, when we appointed a new manager, Dave Wild in January. Since this appointment player recruitment improved and results followed suit finishing the season well beating Sandbach 3-1 on the final game of the season. With the foundations in place, Dave Wild is optimistic that with his summer recruits, including Ash Stott, we are looking forward to a successful season.
