Call to Worship

This is the day that the Lord has made We will rejoice and be glad in it!

When the flavor of God’s kingdom seems absent in the world around us

Let us be the salt of the earth!

When the path of humanity seems lost or dark.

Let us be the light of the world!

In a world of distractions

Let us find Jesus and walk in his way.

Let us worship together in the hope and love of Jesus!

+ Hymn 409

God is Here!

+ Call to Confession

+ Prayer of Confession | Written in Youth Group

ABBOT'S LEIGH

Loving God, we are grateful that we can come to you with our burdens and our confessions. We know that we mess up and disappoint ourselves and others. We know you will always love and accept us, no matter what. We believe you are waiting and ready to hear our prayer and to forgive us. For the times when we are careless, neglecting our responsibilities and lacking self-control, please, forgive us. For the times when we ignore, exclude or bully someone who needs a friend, please, forgive us. For unkind words and negative attitudes, please, forgive us. For taking our eyes off of You and going our own way, please, forgive us. As we receive the forgiveness you promise, help us to find Jesus and walk in his way. We pray with grateful hearts and in Jesus’ name. Amen.

+ Please rise in body or in spirit.

+ Declaration of Forgiveness

Time for Reflection

+ Affirmation of Faith | Written by the Confirmation Class of 2024

We believe in a loving, creator Father, a savior Son, and a guiding Holy Spirit. God gives us the gift of his grace. We believe grace is everything we need, yet we don’t deserve it. God gives us the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus cared more about people than power, and his message to love one another can transform the world. We believe Jesus is at work through the Holy Spirit, who gives us guidance to grow in our faith. We believe that faith grows, learns, and evolves. We need to leave room for the Holy Spirit to act in the busyness of our lives to help us participate in the work of the church. We are the Children of God!

A VISION

For Young P the Church

In the midst of a beautiful and broken world, we have a vision for ministry with young people, that unites youth in Christ with all other generations and proclaims the love of God without end. This vision gives us hope:

for a Church that is authentic, a community of faith that lives what they proclaim; for a Church that participates in, and pays witness to the lively, joyful reality of the grace of God for the whole world; for a Church that helps young people to understand what it means to know and experience the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that they will, as God does, view all people with love and possibility; for a Church that expresses God’s boundless love by embracing young people as they are, where they are, and where they could be, inspiring them to share their ideas, dreams and unique gifts with the world and the church;

for a Church that acknowledges and celebrates youth as the keepers of God’s world, capable of serving as agents of healing, friends to the friendless, and leaders along the path of Jesus; for a Church that encourages young people to live and lead with humility, but also with confidence and joy; for a Church that accepts that it may be changed, even re-made, through the power of the Spirit and by youth’s energy, freshness, and vitality.

Worship this morning is being enthusiastically led by the young people of our Youth Ministry.
