+ Call to Worship

What shall we offer for all God’s goodness to us?

Let us lift up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord!

+ Hymn 727: THE SERVANT SONG Will You Let Me Be Your Servant

+ Prayer of the Day

Holy God, source and sovereign, you put all power and authority into the hands of Christ— Christ, who washes our feet in humble service. Teach us to love one another as Christ has loved us, so that everyone will know that we are his disciples; through Jesus Christ, our Teacher and Lord, we pray. Amen.

+ Declaration from John 13:12-17 & Passing of the Peace

After Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. ”

Friends, empowered by this truth, we are called to go forth and do likewise. The peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

Invitation to Gratitude

Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in our congregation, in our community and in our world. Donate now by texting the word GIVE (not case sensitive) to: (610)-819-4483, or scan the QR code on your phone to give online. You may make a one-time donation, or set up a recurring donation. Please feel free to give in-person as well.

The Deacons’ Compassion Fund assists persons in financial need, funded by the generous donations of members and friends of our church. An additional and optional offering will be taken today to provide funds for this purpose. Designate ‘Deacon Compassion Fund’ on the offering envelope in the pew, when giving online, or on your check memo line, if you wish to allocate today’s gift to this effort.

Scripture Reading | Matthew 26:20-25

Sermon | “Surely Not I?” | The Rev. Katy Shevel

Anthem | Chancel Choir

God is Love (Ubi Caritas) Steven Rickards (b. 1955)

God is Love , and where true love is , God himself is there. Here in Christ we gather, Love of Christ our calling. Christ our love , is with us , gladness be his greeting. Let us fear and love him , holy God eternal , loving him , let each love Christ in one another. When we Christians gather, members of one body, let there be in us no discord but one spirit. Banished now be anger, strife and every quarrel. Christ is God , be always present here among us. Grant us love's fulfilment , joy with all the blessed. When we see your face , O Savior in your glory. Shine on us , O purest light of all creation , be our bliss while endless ages sing your praises.

The Stripping of the Chancel

Service of Tenebrae

Tenebrae comes from a translation of a Latin Anthem, Tenebrae Factae Sunt (There was darkness). It is sometimes called the “Service of Shadows.” Tenebrae is a service of readings and extinguishing of lights, to mark the darkness in which Easter will come. At the conclusion of the service, you may stay as long as you wish, leaving in silence when you are ready.
