Dear Wayne Presbyterian Church friends,

September 3, 2025

I have used up all my clipboards for sign-up sheets, my tea supply is running low, and my office closet is overflowing with brand new “church merch.” This can only mean one thing… Fall Kickoff is upon us! As a follow up to Pastor Ryan’s letter, I would love to share with you a little of what we ’ ve got going in Adult Education. I would only add this delightful caveat: precisely because we have so much to offer, I simply cannot list it all!

Folks often ask me if they need much prior biblical knowledge to join our Adult Education classes My answer is, “Not at all!” Whether you know a little about the Bible or whole a lot, our goal is provide plenty of opportunities for everyone equally to grow together in faith and to build community in the name of Christ Not sure where to begin? Here’s a few helpful places to start:

On Sundays…

Follow the aroma of delicious coffee to find a warm welcome and lively discussion on spiritual topics at Fellowship of the Bean. Across the hall, find an inspiring and thoughtfully accessible introductorylevel study with Rev. Dr. Joe Modica in “The Old Testament in Seven Sentences.” Come back in the evening for an uplifting time of fellowship and spiritual formation for women at “Let’s Pause.”

On Mondays…

Did Sunday’s sermon resonate with you? Join our Monday Morning Bible Study to dive even deeper into it!

For women…

Want to learn how to knit? The talented ladies of our Prayer Shawl Ministry will show you how! Are you an early riser? Join Pastor Katy at “Word Before Work” for breakfast and an engaging study on the Old Testament prophets. Want to learn more about women in the Bible? Come to our midmorning women ’ s Bible study, “Women in the Word.” Grab your lunch for “Lunch with the Lord” for insight about the 10 Commandments and how to apply these teachings to your life today

For men…

Seeking food for both the body and soul? Stop by Nudy’s Café in Berwyn on Wednesday mornings for our Men’s Bible Study Expand your horizons with our Thursday Morning Men’s Ministry which hosts speakers on a variety of topics related to faith. Wind down your week with Contemplative Prayer.

For parents…

Seeking support and fellowship as a mom? Come to our “Ministry of Motherhood” discussion group on Thursday mornings For even more opportunities to connect, be sure to inquire about our “MOMs Night Out” events

Book groups…

We have two new evening small groups meeting this September and October led by our pastors We are reading Discovering Christianity by Rowan Williams. Stay tuned for two Sunday Book Clubs coming your way this November! The books we will be reading are: Stranger in the Boat by Mitch Albom and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer.

One Book One Church: Spring 2025…

Mark your calendars! Renowned physician, geneticist, and leader of the international Human Genome Project, Dr Francis S Collins is coming to Wayne Presbyterian Church in March! We have an exciting lineup of speakers and discussion groups planned for Lent, not to mention we ’ re bringing back our Wednesday evening Soup Suppers!

Did I leave anything out? Oh, I’m sure I did! Therefore, I invite you to check out our church website to learn more or to reach out to me personally to have a conversation about how to get involved in Adult Education this fall.

Peace and blessings, Katy Shevel, Pastor
