as though the north wind had blown in on December 6, but that did not stop residents from lining the streets to enjoy the annual Christmas parade, which began at 3 p.m. Spectators came dressed in warm coats, hats, and gloves to partake in this year’s festivities.

The parade, which began downtown on Deal Street, was an event that will be memorable for many. Several churches and organizations handed out prepared bags of candy to children — and even some adults — as an added treat while they awaited their favorite characters marching by. Appearances included Sheriff Woody, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and multiple sightings of the Grinch, among others.

The procession also included The Loch Norman Pride Band, the ROTC, the Kings Mountain High School Marching Band, firefighters, and KM policemen with German Shepherds by their side. Representatives from Davidson County and Cleveland County, including Senator Ted Alexander, were also present.

In addition, a variety of contractors and downtown businesses participated, including the Albemarle Company.

“OPERATION ICE-BREAKER”

Major joint investigation dismantles a multi-state Crystal Meth Operation

identified as a drug dealer out of Gaston County.

A major multiagency investigation involving Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, and Gastonia Police Department has resulted in the disruption of a largescale drug trafficking organization operating from Dallas, Texas to Gastonia, North Carolina. The combined efforts of these agencies led to the seizure of 44 kilos of crystal methamphetamine, valued at approximately $2.6 million on the street.

The investigation began in November 2025 when investigators conducted surveillance at the residence of Rickie Shane Hooper. During this surveillance, investigators observed Hooper meeting with Javier Luviano-Navarro. It was later determined that Hooper had received a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine from Luviano-Navarro, who was also

As the investigation progressed, investigators tracked Luviano-Navarro to a residence in Cleveland County, later returning to Gastonia, where he rented a storage unit the following day. Search warrants were executed on properties associated with Hooper resulting in the seizure of 14 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, with an additional 5 kilos being recovered from the storage unit rented by Luviano-Navarro.

In early December, investigators learned that Luviano-Navarro was returning to Gastonia, believed to be transporting another significant shipment intended for distribution in Cleveland and Gaston counties. On December 4, investigators observed Luviano-Navarro entering Gastonia in a different vehicle. The Street Crimes Division of the Gastonia Police Department conducted a traffic stop, locating cocaine and keys to the previously searched storage unit.

Simultaneously, investigators with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office located the original vehicle Luviano-Navarro had been driving in November at a residence in Cleveland

County. The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office Community Interdiction Team encountered Eusebio Bustos-Osorio inside the vehicle. A K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, and deputies subsequently seized 25 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from the trunk.

As a result of the investigation:

• Eusebio Bustos-Osorio was charged in Cleveland County with two counts of trafficking crystal methamphetamine and one count of conspiracy to traffic crystal methamphetamine.

• Javier Luvian-Navarro was charged in Gaston County with four counts of trafficking crystal methamphetamine.

• Charges for Rickie Shane Hooper are pending.

The investigation remains active.

Sheriff Alan Norman extends his appreciation to every investigator and agency involved throughout this operation, which proves interagency collaboration is a must in protecting our communities from these drug traffickers. Sheriff Norman states that the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investigating and removing dangerous narcotics from our streets and neighborhoods.

Cleveland County Sheriff Alan Norman offers tips for safe holiday shopping

The holiday season is in full swing, which means that local shopping centers will be packed with eager shoppers looking for the perfect gifts for their families and friends.

Popular shopping days can also lead to spikes in criminal activity like shoplifting, fraud, and even violent crime. Sheriff Norman offers some helpful tips to help your holiday shopping go smoothly this year:

• Keep your purse or wallet close to your body and avoid keeping your phone in your back pocket where it can easily be taken.

• Never fight or argue over an item in the store!

• Stay aware of your surroundings at all times and locate the exits closest to you in case of an emergency.

• Before you leave for the store, let a friend or family member know where you are going and when you expect to return.

• Do not leave shopping bags visible in your

vehicle. Stow them in the locked trunk or take them directly home.

• Wait until you are asked by the cashier to take your credit or debit card out of your wallet. Someone waiting behind you may use this as an opportunity to look over your shoulder and get your account information.

• If you see someone or something suspicious, notify a store employee or law enforcement officer.

Last year, more people shopped online during Black Friday than they did in stores, totaling over 87 million online shoppers. If you prefer to avoid the brick-and-mortar stores like many others, you may still be at risk of becoming a victim of a cyber-crime. Here’s some ways Sheriff Norman says you can avoid this:

• Only shop on secure, trusted websites. Look for the “HTTPS” or a lock symbol at the beginning of the URL on the website you are visiting. The “S” stands for “secure” which means it is safe to enter your information.

• Use a secure internet connection to do your shopping such as your home Wi-Fi. Public networks (like those available at coffee shops) are not secure and may be used by bad actors to collect your private information.

• Do your research if you are unfamiliar with a particular online retailer. Take your time to ensure that the website is legitimate before making a purchase.

“During the holiday season it is more important than ever to be vigilant and take extra measures to keep ourselves and our community safe. Take some time to review these safety reminders before you head out in search of gifts for your loved ones,” said Sheriff Norman. “But most of all, remember to have fun, and experience the joy this season has to offer!”

• Keep a record of all of your online purchases and monitor your bank and credit card activity for any purchases that do not match your receipts.

Gaston County has 18th confirmed rabies case of 2025 Congressman Tim Moore announces over $4 Million in FEMA funding for Catawba Meadows Park in Morganton

On Thursday December 4, 2025, at approximately 10:00am, Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement received a call from a local veterinarian hospital in reference to kitten under quarantine that was now showing signs of rabies. This is a kitten that had possibly been exposed to a skunk showing neurological issues in the 800 block of Mary’s Grove Road Cherryville, NC on December 14, 2025. None of the felines involved were vaccinated and one died as a result of the attack. The remaining cats were quarantined until the test results were received. There was no human contact with the skunk. The skunk

test results later came back from the state lab positive for rabies.

The kitten owner elected to have the kittens housed under a strict quarantine at a local veterinarian office for 4 months for observation, in compliance with state regulations and at the expense of the owner. When the kitten began showing signs of rabies it was euthanized and processed for rabies on Thursday December 4, 2025. The kitten was impounded by Animal Care and Enforcement Specialist on Thursday December 4, 2025 and then sent to the NC Laboratory of Public Health in Raleigh on Friday December 5, 2025. On Monday

December 8, 2025 the official laboratory results were received at approximately 11:30am indicating that the kitten tested positive for rabies.

The Gaston County Police Department Animal Care and Enforcement Division stresses the importance of having a valid rabies vaccination for all pet’s health and safety, as well as the health and safety of their owners and community.

Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement also notified Gaston County Department Health and Human Services about the incident.

This represents the 18th confirmed rabies case in Gaston County this year.

Domestic violence affects people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds, and its impact often goes beyond visible injuries.

Abuse can be physical, emotional, financial, or take other forms that erode a victim’s safety, autonomy, and well-being. Too often, the scars are hidden, leaving victims suffering in silence.

harm can have long-term effects on a victim’s health and sense of safety.

Emotional or Psychological Abuse

Emotional abuse may leave no marks on the body, but its effects are lasting. It includes constant criticism, threats, manipulation, isolation from family or friends, or controlling behavior. Victims often experience anxiety, depression and a loss of self-esteem, with impacts that can persist long after

Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced on Dec. 8, that the Town of Morganton will receive $4,063,203.21 in federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to restore and replace two buildings at Catawba Meadows Park that were destroyed during Hurricane Helene in 2024.

“The Catawba Meadows Park is a beautiful park located along the Catawba River that serves as an important part of the community,” said Congressman

the relationship ends.

Financial Abuse

Financial abuse involves controlling a victim’s access to money or resources, such as restricting work, taking income, or denying access to bank accounts.

Other problems arise with many victims suffering in silence, especially when abuse is non-controversial, routine, or non-violent.

Take a sleigh ride with the Gaston Band

The Gaston Symphonic Band will perform 14th annual Christmas Festival

Imagine your favorite Christmas carols played on more than 75 instrumentsthat’s what you’ll get at the Gaston Symphonic Band’s 14th Annual Christmas Festival on Friday, December 12, at 7 p.m. at Gastonia First Assembly of God.

The concert is free and will feature carols from around the world. “Of our four annual performances, our Christmas show is by far the largest and most popular,” says Heather Kinlaw, band president. “We’ve rehearsed extra hours for the perfect pitch on classics from ‘The First Noel’ to modern hits like Mariah Car-

ey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You.’”

In a fresh take on a traditional carol, “Gaston Sleigh Ride” will honor the history and spirit of Gaston County, with lyrics written in part by board member Waynette Roberts. Prepare to sing along, as the audience will receive handouts to chime in during this hometown rendition.

Formed in 1992, the Gaston Symphonic Band is a nonprofit organization with the mission to bring free, high-quality concerts to the community. The group also provides area students with a platform where they can grow their musical talents.

Musicians range from advanced-level students to local professionals on flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion similar to an orchestra, only without the string instru-

ments.

“We strive to bring together talented adult and student musicians in a welcoming environment to cel-

ebrate our shared love of music,” Kinlaw says. To find out more about the Gaston Symphonic Band, go to gsbinfo.org.

OPINION

TODAY’S QUOTE:

Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you. – Princess Diana

Pieces of Kings Mountain History

Small towns are different.

We know that to survive, we must depend upon each other, supporting local businesses and helping friends and neighbors during good and bad times. I witnessed this during the first 20 years of my life, doing what I could for my neighbors in the Pauline Mill community, as I had seen others do. I’m sure stories like mine have been repeated in neighborhoods in our town throughout its history. Last week, Hayne

Neisler shared this story of kindness that occurred 80 years ago in Kings Mountain. His post read:

“Mystery Santa Visits Kings Mountain

“The year 1935 was a dreary Depression year in Kings Mountain, and times were tough. In early December a welldressed man knocked on the door of the Kings Mountain Woman’s Club.

“A meeting was being held that evening, so several women went to the door to see who was there. The man explained he was sent to help give needy children in town a Merry Christmas and told the ladies that if they would gather

a list of addresses of children in need, he would return before Christmas with toys and candy to distribute all over town.

“The days went by, and Christmas Day crept closer and closer, but there were no further word or gifts. Dismissing his promise as a cruel hoax, the women met on Christmas Eve for a festive party before heading out to local churches for traditional Christmas Eve services.

“Suddenly, a honking horn could be heard from the driveway of the Woman’s Club, and two men jumped out of the cab of a large truck. They soon began unloading bicycles, dolls, cap pis-

tols, winter coats, and gloves, plus large bags of fresh oranges and candy. The women hurriedly went all over town delivering these gifts.

“One man, Charles Wright, later wrote a letter to the Kings Mountain Herald telling a fantastic story from Christmas Eve 1935 when he was five years old. Earlier that evening, his mom had told him and his little sister that there would be no gifts for Christmas that year. Of course, both he and his sister were naturally disappointed, but even at their young ages, they knew times in Kings Mountain were tough.

“Around 6:00 p.m., there was a knock on

the door, and two ladies from the Woman’s Club delivered to Charles a brand-new red tricycle along with a beautiful baby doll, with real hair, for his little sister.

“He wrote that he was so excited he rode his tricycle for hours before eventually falling asleep at the wheel. Many townspeople tried to guess who the mystery Santa was, but nobody came forward to tell the real story.

These are the types of stories that warm my heart, especially at Christmastime. Each of us can make a child’s Christmas magic, one gift at a time. I urge you to think of others as you

shop for friends and family in the next few weeks. Toys for Tots boxes are available at City Hall, and you don’t even have to wrap those gifts. If you have other charitable groups helping the community, at your church, for example, donate there.

As the spirit of Christmas fills our hearts this holiday season, it is our duty to share that love with others. Ruth Carter Stapleton said, “Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” Merry Christmas!

Remembering Pearl Harbor Day “A date that will Live in Infamy”

This

Sunday, Decem-

2025 marked the 84th Anniversary of Pearl

The anniversary serves as a reminder of the day that drew America into World War II. It serves not only as a sobering recollection of the horrors of war, but also a one of national strength and solidarity underscored by small town efforts.

On December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor, the main base of the US Pacific Fleet, became the victim of a Japanese surprise attack. The attack killed more than 2,400 Americans in the territory (now the state of Hawaii) and is memorialized to honor the death of those Americans as well as the Veterans that answered the call of service.

On December 8, 1941, the day after the attack, President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) addressed Congress saying “Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”

Following the speech to Congress, there was a House vote of 388-1 and a unani-

mous Senate vote of 82-0 to declare war on Japan. This vote marked the official entry of the United States into WWII.

Three days later, on December 11, 1941, after Germany and Italy declared war on the United States, Congress responded by declaring war on those nations as well, formally joining the Allied Powers, including the United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union. The attack on Pearl Harbor was a response to rising tensions, including trade embargoes and military pressures in the Pacific.

What was once thought to be the ‘War to End all Wars,’ World War I (WWI), quickly became nothing but a hopeful fallacy as WWII began and did not end for the US until 1945.

As the War waged on, Kings Mountain, NC had many citizens who answered the call to serve their nation. United as a community, the small town made noticeable efforts for its service members and now veterans.

One of the contributions to war came from one of the Kings Mountain mills, Neisler Mills. At the time, the Neisler Mills were some of the many textile-mills of the area, and they began a newsletter to soldiers overseas. Letters to Servicemen was the name of the newsletter, and the letters were written under the pseudonym of “The Old Mountaineers.”

The letters were designed to keep those troops that were serving, who were also residents of KM, in the loop about the town, the citizens, and often contained lighter content from employees of the mills to help boost the morale of the servicemen.

The letters, which began in 1942 and continued through 1945, were an internal Neisler Mills communication to servicemen. Meanwhile, the Kings Mountain Herald documented local mills and community life, helping preserve the broader context of the era.

The work was not done after the letter campaign

ceased. Instead, the work continued by creating an “Honor Roll.” The Honor Roll created a memorial for WWII veterans, memorializing their service and sacrifice for their community, state, and nation. The memorial provided a physical manifestation of history by etching the names of those who served into the memorial.

It is through the actions

of a small town like Kings Mountain that it can be seen — even in the darkest of times — Americans are known for perseverance, strength, and sacrifice. Aligning with the national anniversary, Kings Mountain also has its own local history around the war.

A special thank you to all those who have served, intended to serve, or are currently serving.

Sources: The archived Servicemen Letters, and the KM Herald articles may be found online at the DigitalNC (a state archive) website located at digitalnc.org. Serviceman Letters may also be found online at digitalkm.org. Materials are provided to the digital archives by the Mauney Memorial Library.

One more Christmas

How many more Christmases will you have?

Will you have fifty more? Will you have a dozen more? Maybe you will have just one more, maybe. There are no guarantees of a certain number of more Christmases.

My grandpa Hinkle suffered with heart issues. I remember him suffering an episode where his heart was bothering him and he put nitroglycerin pills under his tongue to calm the effects of his heart issues. “I may never see another Christmas” he stated as his pain eased off and he became more relaxed. Seems like he did celebrate a couple more Christmases and before he died at the age of 83. Since we aren’t sure how many more Christmases we will enjoy, let’s make this a good one. Focus your eyes and mind on the person of Christmas – Jesus. The Shepherds came to see him and left rejoicing at what they saw, heard and experienced. Jesus gave them something to talk about, something to do and their story was com-

pelling. The Wise Men, traveled from a long distance to worship Jesus. They did so because Jesus was worth it. Jesus is worth it. He is worthy of our focus. Our eyes and minds are in so many places today. There is so much to hear and see even if you never leave your house. The television, social media and more are constantly showing us lots of stuff that gets our attention but sometimes makes life fuzzy and mentally chaotic. Focusing our attention on Jesus clears our minds and sharpens our perspectives. Don’t max out. Maxing out is not fun or healthy. This means don’t overspend. Don’t spend money you don’t have. Don’t try to do stuff that pushes you to the brink of exhaustion. What good does this do you or anyone if you go in the hole financially and mentally over the holiday? Step back, be reasonable and use common sense in all that you want to do. Reach out and love others. If this is your last Christmas then you want to let those significant people in your life know that you love them and

care about them. They will remember next Christmas that they were loved by you on the previous Christmas. You may want to do something creative or different for Christmas. Maybe there is someplace special you want to be on Christmas. This is not always possible. Many soldiers will be in distant lands on Christmas. Many relatives will be in distant towns for Christmas. Be where you want to be if you can on Christmas. If you can’t, then try to make as many phone calls as possible to those people. This Christmas, don’t be sad, mad or bad but be joyful and celebrate this good day. If we are here, then rejoice. If there is an empty chair at the table, remember that to be absent from the body is to be present with God, if we love and accept him. This is our hope that those who are no longer with us are in a better place than we are and someday we will be with them in that beautiful place.

Regardless of how many Christmases you have left, be filled with joy for this one.

Christmas Angels…

As I mentioned in last week’s article, during this Advent season, I plan to share with you the topic of Christmas angels. Last week we looked at the angel Gabriel who visited the priest Zachariah. While he was in the temple, the angel Gabriel informed him that the son that he and his wife, Elizabeth, had prayed for years would finally be conceived and born. This son to be named John (the Baptist) would be the forerunner of Jesus (the Messiah). However, when told of this news, Zachariah doubted and as a result became mute until his son was born. Here’s the lesson we learned from this angelic visitation: If God makes a promise, He will keep

that promise. This week we see the angel of God visiting Mary who would become the mother of Jesus. The angel tells Mary she is highly favored with the Lord and that she is blessed among women. We read the story in Luke’s Gospel chapter 1:26-38: “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was

troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath

also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” Mary was singled out by God to give birth to the Messiah (Jesus). Being singled out by God can sometimes be a difficult thing for any of us to comprehend. It can be quite overwhelming! Perhaps we would like to go unnoticed… go under the radar, so to speak, and just blend in and be average. When God calls us out… when we are singled out by Him, we may feel inadequate and think He might be asking more from us that we are able to give. Sometimes we are guilty as Christians of wanting the comfort associated with spirituality, without taking any

risks or fearful of accepting the challenge of servanthood that goes along with following Jesus. Like sheep we are comforted in being in the fold but fear comes when we are called to stand out among the crowd. This message from Gabriel was certainly outside of the realm of anything that had ever been. No wonder she was troubled about the news of having a baby since she was a virgin having had no relations with a man. I don’t think Mary was afraid because the angel was there. Most likely she was troubled because of the announcement that God was calling her to do something that was completely out of the ordinary, something that could de-rail her life, possibly create a scandal, and leave her homeless and destitute. Her fear lay in the dreams of a life about to be shattered by the call of God.

Here’s a lesson for us. Don’t be afraid when God calls you out of the ordinariness of your life. Don’t be afraid for God to choose to use you to do something great to impact the world. Don’t be afraid because where God calls, God provides—He provides grace. That’s what Gabriel (the angel) told Mary. “You have found favor with God.” She had found the favor of God’s grace upon her life. The angel’s announcement was one of grace, and grace transforms fear into hope.

Mary’s final statement to the angel was this: “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” Again, the lesson for us is trust…trust in God whom nothing impossible. Mary was willing for God to do unto her as He pleased!

THE SAVIOUR IS BORN

We Celebrate Christmas We Celebrate Christmas

Luke 1 The Birth of Jesus Foretold

26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34”How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[c] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God.”

38”I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

Mary Visits Elizabeth

39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” Mary’s Song

46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord

47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed, 49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.

50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.

51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful 55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers.”

Luke 2

The Birth of Jesus

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14”Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
