I don't watch ShopNBC anymore and I don't feel like I've missed anything.

Ever since I've been unemployed I haven't watched shopNBC at all. Not even bothered to open their e-mails. At first it was so I wouldn't feel bad for seeing a watch that I couldn't buy.

But now I'm used to it. Of course I still visit the forum, read and comment. I haven't bought any new watches in 5 months and probably won't until I find a job and get back on my feet 1st.

But to all this I feel like I haven't missed anything and I don't feel bad. __________________

Amongst my competition for the job, I beat out three people that were "over qualified". I was astounded when I got "THE call"!

I was going to do a thread like this...but I'll just chime in to this one. For me, the Shop has gone somewhere I don't want to go. I only collect auto/mech watches...and nothing over 46mm prefer 40-44mm. There just isn't anything left that they sell in that range. REALLY, there are 2 out of 25 Sturhlings under 45mm...just 2! Android has gone big. Invicta certainly doesn't make anything for me (except pro-divers and I've got those). Renato...nope. Swiss legend...not much. XO...nope. John Hardy...hell no. Those who want oversized quartz, I envy you...but for me, I can't find anything to buy. There was a time when the brown truck came 2-3 times a month...now I'm lucky if it comes 2-3 a year.

It is very unfortunate that economic times, had affected your employment.

Good luck in finding work RDG. I have to say though im a shop nbc addict. If any watch shows are on when I watch TV ill turn to it. Even if im not buying I watch becaise im fascinated by everything abput watches. Good luck with the job hunting RDG. I don't watch the shows anymore unless someone posts an upcoming once only or a watch that I have wanted to see live on TV for a better look. I rely on WG forums to find the deals on watches that I want and to find out about other brands out there. I find more people are going to the smaller companies for their watches now compared to when I started on WG. I DVR the shows and then fast forward through them. With Jim being gone for so long, I'm bored with watching shows with hosts that are NOT watch folks.

And, I respect Tim, but every time there's a Lupah on his show, he tells the same story about how Eyal was not sure what to name the watch and Tim was "in on" the naming... If it was just once or twice, then sure... others may not have heard it. But, he told the story every time he presented the Lupah recently.

I was sooo glad to see/hear Jim back last night. He makes the shows entertaining, not just shopping...

I know the feeling. I've been out of a job for some time now. I still enjoy watching the shows but there's not much on them that I'd want. However, I do know of about 3-4 watches I want to get (not on Shop) if and when I can find another job.

Until then I just enjoy my 2 Pro Divers and my two older tiny watches.

That's too bad about your current employment status. Something will certainly come along soon. I've been there before and you just have to make do until something turns up.

I did more than my normal share of watch buying lately and have been trying to cool down.

I'm okay until I see the real deals that I just seem to have to have. Some of the older stuff that is being cleared out and some of the new stuff that is limited and the best selections may not last long in the color or style choices I'd want to buy.

I tune out and don't watch the shows unless I know of something I want to see like the recent 20 slot Sicuro display boxes or the $199 T-Rex. I'm not at 100% will power yet, but I manage to control the urge.

Best of luck to you and hope that you'll be back to buying the time pieces you like to wear soon.

I like watching the shows, particularly when Jim, Michael, Daniel, Shawn, Tim, Larry, Wing, Craig and Jill are on. But, i've been buying from Geeks mostly lately, getting great watches at great prices this way. I like the shows for the entertainment value and the knowledge factor. __________________

I haven't had TV since Club America beat Cruz Azul two or three years ago, I got mad and hit the table cussing at the TV...well, my wife said "No more TV, you act like that!" Eddie I hear you. I get tired of seeing the same watches over and over again. Occasionally, there are different brands - and I enjoyed seeing ML when it was aired at the end of last year. But usually, if I watch, I can fast forward thru the usual until I see something that interests me.
