# Watan organization has been implementing several projects to serve the people inside and outside of Syria, and the basis of this project is the development of human resources and the setting of a real renaissance in the inside Syria, and we all looking forward to the day when we see the projects of Watan in every city of Syria, and in the hands of a team of the organization actor teams. And through this newsletter, which is published monthly and periodically, we will keep you posted on the achievements of the offices of Watan and its institutions, and its projects, and developments in every part of the organization and we are looking forward to hear your comments and suggestions for the development and improvement of the work or participate in it.

The Opening of the Office of Gaziantep Complementing the approach of Watan organization in the proximity within Syria and increase the amount of the services and the sequel to the steps of setting up Watan organization as a leading Syrian organization and under an official auspices from the Governor of Affairs of the Syrians in Turkey Aweys Yalmaz, the headquarters of Watan group has opened in the city of Gaziantep on Friday, November 15, 2013 at ten o'clock in the morning, in the presence of a group of institutions and associations Arabic and Turkish and foreign companies operating in Syrian affairs, and a group of businessmen in addition to some Syrian activists and a number of members of the executive office of Watan and a large number of staff members and workers. The ceremony started with both national anthems Turkish and Syrian, then Moaz Al-Sibaai the chairman of the organization delivered a speech, he talked about the importance of this step in the unification of departments and gathering under one roof to be more capable of cooperation and production, and that this head office of Watan will be a key building block and important to complete the foundation and to achieve a global presence, as well as to strengthen the presence in Syria, and improving the operational performance, also he spoke about the history of Watan and its evolution over the past period, and concluded his speech by thanking the audience and supporters and partners. The number of beneficiaries during the current year has doubled to more than 5-times and it is expected to be doubled to 10-times over the next year. Then the governor of the Syrian affairs Mr. Aweys Yalmaz delivered a speech in which he expressed regret over the situation in Syria and sympathy with the Syrian people, and praised the role of the Syrian youth and its importance to build a new Syria, and said he loves the youth, and especially the youth of Watan, and he welcomed Watan in Gaziantep, and the fact that this city is the beating heart of the Syrians, and it is located near to Syria. He stated during his speech that there are more than 100 international civil society institutions working in Turkey in favor of the service of the Syrian people, and that Turkey welcomes these institutions, and all of the works in favor of Syria, especially since the Turkish people treating the Syrian people as brothers with neighboring rights and hospitality. The ceremony concluded with cutting the opening red ribbon by the governor and Mr. Ghassan hitto and Mr. Moaz AlSibaai and Mr. Ghazwan Almasry and Mr. Anas Al-Sibaai, followed by the exchange of greetings between the audience and the members of Watan on participating in the opening. It is noteworthy that the Watan had completed the formal registration in Turkey, and has a branch in the cities of Gaziantep and Rihaniyya, and another branch In the Lebanese city of Tripoli.

The participation of Watan organization in MUSIAD international congress Watan has participated in the Fourth International congress of Young Businessmen MUSIAD association which is currently being held in the city of Istanbul, the Turkish deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ali Babacan has visited Watan booth and view the most important projects and achievements of the organization within Syrian, Watan is the only Arab Syrian institution among many commercial institutions in this important forum.

In a dignified and beautiful Initiative, Sheikh Hamoud al-Shammari accompanied by a delegation of brothers working in the medical field and the relief had visited the office of Watan in Rihaniyya, where the delegation was briefed on the projects of Watan and its achievements. Sheikh Al-Shammari and his delegation Has been praised Watan work and achievements over the past period, and offer the ongoing cooperation between the two parties, while the Watan team have introduced the definition about Watan and the current and future projects. WATAN condemns the actions of an unknown group of masked gunmen on their assault on the relief headquarters of Sham Islamic Body and the abduction of their head and assistant in Aleppo on Sunday night corresponding to 24th Nov 2013. While we deplore and condemn this act, we call on all parties to restrain and not to target humanitarian aid agencies. We all acknowledge the critical role these agencies play in providing for our people in Syria and their support in light of this ordeal. We hope and pray for the safety of all humanitarian aid workers, and for the freedom and security of Syria.

Achievements of the Month of November 2013

Syria charity Foundation

Syria charity Foundation has implemented several projects during the month of November 2013 , inside of Syria, which included multiple areas inside of Syria As well as the areas of service in the city of Rihaniyya And northern Lebanon, where it was at the forefront of projects, the continued support of countryside of Adlib with bread on a daily basis through the bakery of khayr foundation in the southern countryside of Adlib, in addition to the distribution of food and hygiene baskets in the northern areas, also providing Damascus with medical and pharmaceutical consumables.

Khayr graduate the third class of physiotherapy session The conditions experienced by Syria of killing, destruction and devastation, as well as military operations continued in Syria resulting in a lot of cases of paralysis, amputation of the limbs, it had to be the presence of medical staff adequately able to keep up with the treatment of these cases that require effort and periods of time relatively long to treat each individual patient. Khayr provide aids to Al-ihsan camp in Akkar

"good" Foundation issued a statement condemning the storming of regime forces to the city of kara and the assault on the field hospital of kara The Syria charity foundation issued a statement condemning the storming of regime forces to the city of kara and the assault on the field hospital of it, and which kara experienced and Syria witnessed and what the world sees of killing harassment of Syrians, on the morning of of Wednesday 11/20/2013, the Syrian regime forces stormed the field hospital which established by "good" foundation in kara city in collaboration with the Federation of relief organizations in Lebanon and who have secured funding and support, these forces destroyed the contents of the hospital from equipment and medical supplies knowing that the hospital is equipped with two rooms operations and many of the necessary equipment, which has been hospitalized during the last four days before the storming has received 55 wounded people as a result of intense bombardment that hit the city, and "good" foundation confirms that this systematic destruction of the Medical points targeting its staff is the expense of the blood of the Syrian, these medical points have been established to provide services and health care for the Syrians, whatever their affiliation, without any discrimination and should stay away from the conflict and its issues, as provided for international treaties and conventions. The Foundation salutes kara hospital medical staff, who didn't walked out until they treated the last wounded in city, risking their lives in order to help them and stabilize their conditions and keep them alive.

Generation Freedom Institution


School of generation freedom in the Al-Kah allocated two days each week for the activities of psychological support In collaboration with the Institution of Handicap Generation of Freedom School in the Al-Kah allocated two days each week to provide activities related to psychosocial support for children, and the school is seeking through these activities to help children overcome some psychological crises related to previous conditions they have suffered. The generation of freedom institution also works on the permanent development in the school through continuous monitoring of time and teaching through field visits by the institution staff for the school periodically.

Generation Freedom organizes family Festival on the occasion of Eid al-Adha in Montreal sponsored by Human Concern The team of generation freedom held a family festival in Montreal on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, attended by a member of the Canadian Parliament and representatives of the sponsors of the festival (Human concern, Al-jeser Mosque, Al-rawda Mosque, Al-eman Mosque and Al-ansar Mosque), the number of attendees exceeded over 3000 people. The program included a clown show and a show of animals and shows of Magic games, and games room for children and Arab restaurants and bazaar with Arab and Islamic shops This event left a big impact for everyone kids and adults and the proceeds of the festival dedicated to the children of Syria.

The generation of freedom institution – Egypt, one of the institutions of Watan organization setup Eid Al-Adha events within the program of Cham jellyfish that have been able to light up the paths of hope for the Syrians children during their sensation of their presence within their families and their loved ones and their countrymen in an effective and beautiful evening. Generation freedom in Cairo held the week of fairuz Al-Cham The team of generation freedom in the office of Egypt held the week of fairuz Al-Cham, which aimed to put a smile on the faces of the children and bring joy to their hearts because of the big need which the team of generation freedom felt it in our children in places of refuge. These events managed that extended over a week to unload the stress of the participant's children through their interest and joy of the diversity of events, the number of participants in the program about 40 male and female children of different ages ranged between ages 5-12 years. The participants were divided into groups because of the diversity of events that extended their activities to include intelligence games and craftworks and small manufactures for the child, and dance to children's songs and the art in summarizing meaningful stories, and the art of diction, and character building, etc‌, It also had a share of the attention of the media, where it has been conducting interviews and filming the scene with all of the Orient channels and Syria Al-Ghad and visits to the Nile News Channel.

Team generation freedom in Jeddah on a trip for boys Team freedom generation of Jeddah organized leisure trip for a group of boys belonging to the institution of generation freedom, in a move to create an atmosphere of communication and intimacy and pleasure. Syan Foundation for Training


Syan organizes first aid course in Doha

Under the auspices of Qatar Red Crescent team Syan organized a first aid course in Doha city, in which it gave a group of Syrian youth training on the principles of first aid. The session lasted for 6 hours in which the participants -14 participants- learned how to act in cases of fainting, poisoning, fractures, wounds and other incidents that are likely to be encountered every day. As well as all the participants in the session performed practical application on bases of pulmonary and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At the end of the session participants expressed their thanks and admiration for these kind of important and useful training programs, they praised the also the efficiency of the trainer and the contents of the first aid bag as every trainee got one of those.

Syan Egypt finishes the activities of Masters Program Team of Syan Egypt has completed the activities of the training program in Mini Master of Business Administration in collaboration with the University of Aris which was organized in collaboration with the Bridge Center and the University of Aris, this is followed by the program for the Syan Foundation as nearly 26 Syrians of both genders were given Mini Master of Business Administration from University of Aris after attending intensive specified paths in human resources, marketing, financial management and Project Management The Director of the Office in Egypt handed the certificates to the trainees; the media attention was significant impact on the spread of this event in addition to the emotional impact which was obvious on the faces of our fellow trainees.

Syrian Business Club (SBC)


The team of Business Club organizes a course in Riyadh about "economic feasibility"

Syrian club of Watan organization - Riyadh office - arranged a training course about "economic feasibility" for non-professionals under the supervision of trainer Dr. Ashraf Algheidh in the fifteenth of the current month. This course which was attended by more than 35 trainees covered the basic principles of the doing the feasibility study for small businesses for non-professionals, those who aspire to establish institutions or small-sized Facilities, and they would like to do a preliminary feasibility studies for their businesses, also a workshop was done on hypothetical feasibility study in the session. The relatively large attendance for the session reflected the desire of the majority of individuals in the community towards establishing their own businesses in order to make an extra income or work for themselves. Session was ended with distribution of certificates on the trainees by Mr. Rabee’ Siba’i the director of Riyadh office in Watan organization also the trainer Dr. Ashraf Algheidh was given an appreciation Certificate for his efforts, and the attendance requested for doing more of these courses as they requested for financial accounting course for non-professionals.

“Watan of Riyadh” sets up his second camp with a variety of cultural and sports programs “Watan’s family in Riyadh office " set up the second camp for the second year in a row at Bur Al-Thumamah in Riyadh on Friday, the fifteenth of this November, as part of the social events performed by the office at the beginning of this winter season. Attendance from families who came to the camp after Friday Prayer (Jumu’a) until after midnight was the more than 80 people, as they spent their day at the camp and enjoyed the programs were prepared for them in this occasion with the presence and participation from the office managers in Riyadh. And the dynamic field activity, which began early in the camp with children riding small buggies and football with other entertaining sport games, in an atmosphere characterized by intimacy and familiarity until sunset, Mr. Rabee’ Siba’i the director of Watan’s office in Riyadh started the evening’s program by welcoming Watan’s family members and the guests and he explained that this camp is the first of winter’s camps which Riyadh office intend to organize this year with the participation of all the branch offices in Riyadh also he pointed that the purpose of setting up such camps is not only for entertainment but also to deepen the bonds of relations between Watan’s families as well as adding new members and developing the awareness and cultural activities of the office, Then the entertaining and cultural program began with Islamic chants performed by “khayr” band, after that there was a Karate show from “Generation Freedomÿ" kids, and there was a cultural and religious quizzes for the attendance and incentive prizes were given to the winners, the entertainment were for adults also as teams of adults and children played Tug of war And also several children participated in the competition of Quran recitation. It is noteworthy that the Riyadh office performs several events and activities through its offices during this period and works on planning for setting up many diversified programs during this year.

Watan Projects

Generation Freedom School in the Camp of Al-Kahh School inside Syria in Idlib in the camp of Al-Kahh, the number of children reached 900 students, it aims to help the students to complete their educational schooling and put them back in the atmosphere of attendance away from the chaos that lived during the period of displacement and to protect children from the distractions and moral psychological diseases that could be formed under vacuum which they experienced.

The Bakery of Syrian Charity institution A bakery in the countryside of Idlib works to secure the bread for about 20 villages belonging to the countryside of Ma'art Al-No'aman, with a maximum capacity of 15000 loaves a day.

Orphans Sponsorship Project The project aims to support Syrians orphans by amounts of money payed monthly to be enough to secure a decent life, and to cover their basic needstaking into consideration their living conditions, and it is implemented in all the whereabouts of Syrians orphans both inside Syria or outside within the places of displacement, and the project aims to sponser 10,000 orphans from orphanages Syrians.

Medical Support Project One of the projects of the Syrian charity institution, the project is being implemented in cooperation with the Norwegian aid (Norwac) the project aims to provide medical support and health in order to support the Syrian people in the interior (medical equipment, medicines, medicines, children's and milk, surgical operations) and in almost every governorate.

Generation Freedom Cultural Center The center aims to unload the the energies of the child by producing cultural activities to teach children new skills and put the children in an atmosphere of work and contribute to and share away from the cruelty and suffering which they have experienced, the number of members of the club until June 2013, 100 children.

About Watan

The Idea WATAN represents system of organizations that works through the various institutions of civil society, and aims to achieve comprehensive progress in Syria. These institutions are run by specialized personnel. And it is open to all Syrians, irrespective of their racial, religious or national affiliations.

The Vision WATAN sees itself as the pioneer of progress to build the future for Syria.

The Message We strive to achieve development for man and society through the institutions of civil society with specialized personnel. We work throughout Syria, in all governorates, to establish developmental projects.

Why WATAN because the Syrian renaissance is very important to us, and because we are eager to assemble the efforts and energies to build Syrian renaissance, and because the institutional work is the basis of community building, we came of “WATAN” idea to be a nation-building project and steps to establish a collective action serves the interests Syrian society.

WATAN Objectives

•Promote the concept of civil society institutions in Syria. •Support Syrian society by providing services that promote its progress and development. •Work throughout the country and wherever Syrian communities live, establishing branches for all lines of activity. •Start WATAN development projects which Syria needs after the victory of the revolution. •Provide training and character building for people so they can play active roles in society. •Influence the political process to direct it towards serving the country and its people and ensuring that people will have their rights.

Registering for WATAN For Syria’s national progress, and in order to effectuate the concept of teamwork, and to work together to build our beloved nation, Syria, it would greatly please us for you to become a member of WATAN by registering and selecting one of the available membership types:

Registering as a Friend of WATAN

Registering as a Watan Member

The “friend” membership is open to people of all nationalities. It is equivalent to a standard membership in terms of volunteer and group work. It is required that the friends of WATAN actively participate in the institutions, offices, and projects of WATAN, and that they assume a role within one of the groups of the organization, giving it some of their time on a volunteer basis. However, the bylaws of WATAN do not allow for friends of WATAN to be nominated for election in the General Secretariat, nor does it afford them the privilege of voting in the General Assembly or attending its meetings.

Membership in WATAN is open to Syrians of all sects and factions of society who are above 18 years of age. It is required that they actively participate in the institutions, offices, and projects of WATAN, and that they assume a role within one of the groups of the organization, giving it some of their time on a volunteer basis. Members of WATAN can attend the meetings of the General Assembly, and can be nominated for election into the General Secretariat.

Registering as a Student Member The student membership is available to Syrians of all backgrounds and sects who are under the age of 18. It is required that each member is active in Watan’s different organizations, offices, and projects, works with one of the teams in the organization, and donates some of his time to it. However, the student members cannot be nominated to the general secretariat or vote as members of the general assembly or attend its meetings

Registering as a volunteer The volunteer membership is open to people of all nationalities who are above the age of 15. It is required that these members comply with the principles and goals of Watan, and partake in its projects and activities. However, the volunteer members cannot be nominated to the general secretariat or vote as members of the general assembly or attend its meetings.
