Almost, Maine: Washburn University Theatre

Dedication to Ron Zastrow

The Washburn Theatre Department is proud to dedicate this production of Almost, Maine to Ron Zastrow. Ron had returned to Topeka recently and, although retired, continued his passion for the arts by designing the costumes for Almost, Maine. Before Ron left Topeka for other adventures, including doing costume work for Cirque du Soleil, he had designed sets, lights, and costumes for Helen Hocker Theatre, Topeka Civic Theatre, and The Washburn Theatre Department, among others. Ron taught design courses at Washburn and was a mentor to budding designers. Those of us who worked with Ron will surely miss his attention to detail, his dry wit, and his incredibly big smile. Although he shared the knowledge of his craft with so many people, we can only glimpse what he could have shared were he not taken so young. As a lasting tribute, the Washburn Theatre Department is naming the costume shop after Ron Zastrow.
