WARWICK ENABLES WARWICK EMPOWERS

In collaboration with our partners across the town and county, our WARWICK ENABLES, WARWICK EMPOWERS initiatives are:

Warwick – A Singing Town

Warwick – A Singing Town enables outstanding musical opportunities to be extended to people across our local community. These opportunities are not restricted to one age group either - the project enables people of all ages to benefit. From weekly singing tuition for children at local primary schools to Sing for Joy community choirs based at local community centres, this project aims to bring the joy of singing to as many people in Warwick as possible.

CV34 Bursaries & King Henry VIII Scholarships

We offer both means-tested and academically assessed financial support for talented local children to access our schools – empowering these pupils to achieve their potential and access our outstanding opportunities. Our transformational financial awards are aimed at making sure the education in our schools is open to as many young people as possible.

Inspire Programme

Our Inspire Programme School enables gifted young people from access enhanced learning in maths and English. pupils are invited into Tuesday afternoons from our school run learning environment designed to ensure their academic potential.

At Warwick Schools Foundation, we have a very special relationship with our historic home town. And our association with our charitable partners, King Henry VIII Endowed Trust is just as special – dating back to the foundation of the charity in the 16th century. Together, we have developed a programme of work which enables and empowers individuals across Warwick and the surrounding areas to realise their potential – be it academic, musical, artistic or sporting. This programme may change with the external world and evolve to meet the challenges of the present day and the future but its core purpose remains – to have a positive influence on the broader Warwickshire community, and in turn, wider society.

Orchestra of the Swan

Our partnership with Orchestra of the Swan is truly groundbreaking. Through the work we carry out with our orchestra in residence, we enable young people across Warwickshire to access both the outstanding musical facilities at the Foundation but also the talent and passion of the Swan’s musicians as they visit schools around the town. These visits feature workshops tailored to the school in question aimed at inspiring the children about music-making, and developing a pathway to creating a new generation of musicians.

Volunteering

Our commitment to empowering our young people to become good citizens sees our GCSE and Sixth Form students devote an afternoon per week to volunteering in the local community. We do not dictate to our students what their placement is as they become truly empowered through being passionate about the project they choose. And as a result of the work they do on these afternoons, we see many of our pupils continue to seek out voluntary community service when they leave us. The placements are as varied as our pupil body – with litter picking, maths and English mentoring at local schools and reading to care home residents all popular choices.

School partnerships

We work closely with a number of local schools from across the local community At both student and staff levels, these partnerships enable our communities to collaborate and share perspectives; enhancing teaching and learning on both sides of the relationship. One such partnership is with Evergreen School, which sees student teachers training at the Foundation work in - and with - Evergreen to enhance their SEND practice, whilst senior pupils from the Foundation visit Evergreen to support their pupils’ learning including at a Holiday Club. We also work closely with local schools such as Coten End and All Saints C of E Primary School, who have visited the Foundation to take part in a number of academic and musical outreach days. These close relationships enhance the pupil experience for all – both at the Foundation and our partner schools, as well as for generations of pupils to come.

Elsewhere, our Westgate String Project is the epitome of Warwick Enables, Warwick Empowers Staff from Warwick Preparatory School teach violin to Year 3 children at Westgate every Thursday afternoon – enabling these pupils to foster a love for music-making - including a concert to parents at the end of each term.
