Residentials
We offer a range of residential trips across all four year groups. Here are some of the opportunities our boys experience.

Year 3 and Year 4
Mount Cook Adventure, Matlock – two nights
Our residential trip to Mount Cook Adventure Centre offers a rich and supportive environment for both Year 3 and Year 4 pupils, with tailored programmes that promote confidence, independence, and a love of learning through adventure.
All pupils stay in a purpose-built accommodation block, with four-bedded, ensuite dormitories specifically designed for primary-aged children, ensuring a comfortable and secure stay for everyone.
Year 3, Prehistoric Britain
For many boys, this is their first school residential, and we aim to make it a truly memorable one. Year 3 pupils follow a carefully designed itinerary that links directly to their Humanities curriculum, exploring prehistoric Britain through hands-on activities such as archaeological digs,
bone working, fibre craft, and fire lighting using traditional bow and hand drills. These immersive experiences are complemented by a gentle introduction to outdoor adventure, helping to build confidence and curiosity in a safe and supportive setting.
Year 4, Adventure
Returning to Mount Cook, Year 4 pupils build on their previous experience with a more challenging and adventurous programme. Activities include climbing, abseiling, high ropes, orienteering, zip wire, and an off-site scrambling session at Black Rock. Team-based problemsolving tasks encourage collaboration, resilience, and independence, making this a key step in their personal development.
