A Message of Peace, p. 5
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, The Promised Messiah and Mahdi
from the editor
As bombs drop and political leaders selfshly prioritise their vested interests and thirst for power above all else, the world is, more than ever, in dire need of peace. Amid the turmoil, a voice of pure spiritual guidance urges world leaders - and society at large - to adopt truthfulness and justice. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba has repeatedly explained that to create a harmonious world, we must create peace within ourselves. How? By forming a close relationship with Allah the Almighty. Only then can we establish peace and respect in our communities and ultimately worldwide.
“If we want to make the world an abode of peace, then you should look for the ways to establish peace within your heart. When man makes internal peace the means of acquiring external peace, then irrespective of religion, creed or colour, every person will have feelings of sympathy for all others, as without this, peace cannot be established.” (Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, Jalsa Salana Germany 2010)
As Waaqifaat-e-Nau, we have a greater responsibility to abide by our beloved Hazoor’saba guidance.
During a virtual Mulaqat with Waaqifaat-e-Nau Lajna in the UK on 15th May 2022, Hazooraba reminded us of our mission: “You are the people, who are to bring about a positive change and (moral) revolution in society. There are so many of Waaqifaat-e-Nau now, that now you should already be bringing about a real change for the better in society.”
May Allah the Almighty enable us to fulfl our responsibilities as Waaqifaat-e-Nau by bringing about a revolution in society which leads to a peaceful world, Insh’Allah. Ameen.

Writings of the Promised Messiahas
O Dear Ones! Age-old experience and repeated trials have established, without question, that to insult and abuse the Prophets and Messengers of different countries and peoples is such a deadly poison which not only destroys the body but also kills the soul, thereby ruining the worldly prospects as well as the spiritual. A country whose inhabitants
are always after fnding faults in the leaders of others, and constantly assassinate their characters, can never rest in peace themselves. Such people can never achieve true unity who, individually or mutually, refer to each other’s Prophets or saints or divines with malice or foul language.

BECOMING A B LightOF
Official Transcript of the Concluding Address by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba at the National Waaqifaat-eNau Ijtema UK 2025 on 26th April 2025.
After reciting Tashahhud, Ta`awwuz, and Surah Al-Fatihah, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba said:
‘With the grace of Allah, the annual Waaqifaat-e-Nau Ijtema [gathering] of the UK Waaqifaat-e-Nau is taking place today. I hope and pray that this Ijtema proves blessed in every sense and serves as a means of long-term benefit for you all.
The Waaqifaat-e-Nau consists of Ahmadi girls and women who have been born into a legacy of devotion, as your parents dedicated your lives to the service of your faith before you were born. And upon reaching an age of maturity, all of you have reaffirmed that profound pledge and made it their own.
“
Understand that with each step you take towards maturity, your connection to your faith must also deepen and mature, and the weight of your responsibilities shall grow heavier.
Hence, at the outset, I wish to make it clear that the Waaqifaat-e-Nau are not a minor or insignificant part of the Jama’at [Community]. In truth, every one of you is incredibly important and of immense value as you are the women and girls who, in this era, have pledged to take up the mantle of practising and propagating the true teachings of Islam. As such, the obligations and responsibilities you owe to your faith shall continue to rise over the course of your life like a towering wave.
Together, as Waaqifaat-e-Nau, you have the potential to profoundly shape the world around you and inspire generations to come.
In years gone by, many of the Waaqifaat-e-Nau whom I met were young children, and I addressed them according to their age and understanding. However, now, with Allah’s grace, many of those same faces sit before me as adults. In fact, many of you are now married and have children of your own who are also part of the Waqf-e-Nau scheme. Where this is a manifestation of Allah’s blessings, it should also direct the attention of every member of the Waqf-e-Nau scheme to reflect upon their duties.
Understand that with each step you take towards maturity, your connection to your faith must also deepen and mature, and the weight of your responsibilities shall grow heavier. Indeed, all of you who are older, even those who have reached the age of 13 or 14, should reflect upon the true meanings and scope of your pledge. Ponder over the fact that your life was dedicated to the service of Ahmadiyyat by your parents and that upon reaching an age of understanding and maturity, you have, of your own volition, embraced and reaffirmed that sacred commitment. Consequently, you must contemplate how you can honour your pledge.
While some Ahmadi girls pursue higher education and professions such as medicine, engineering, teaching or law, many prefer to stay at home after marriage. Such women should not think that their lack of a profession precludes them from serving the Jama’at or fulfilling the responsibilities of their waqf [devotion to faith]. Rather, nurturing your children, raising them to be righteous and to possess a deep love for God and ensuring that your home shines as a beacon of Islamic light lies at the very heart of being a Waqfe-Nau member. In fact, this is the responsibility of every Ahmadi mother.
Yet, for those who have dedicated their lives to their faith, the duty to morally train and guide their children lies even heavier. Remember that your children are always watching you with eager eyes, so let them see virtue and sincerity in your every deed. Above all, your children should learn from you how to build a strong connection with
Allah and recognise why this is so important. They should learn the profound value of seeking Allah’s nearness and how He, in His benevolence, listens to the prayers of those who draw close to Him. By setting a pious example for your children and attaining the nearness of God Almighty, you shall fulfil the true objectives of your waqf.
So, at all times, strive to embody the teachings and practices of the Holy Prophetsaw, which, in this era, have been taught to us by the Promised Messiahas. Indeed, on many occasions, the Promised Messiahas stated that his mission was to revive Islam’s true and original teachings and to inspire the people of the world to follow the perfect example of the Holy Prophetsaw
Further, he stated that Allah sent him with two principal objectives. First, to re-establish the principle of Tauhid, the Oneness of God in the world. Secondly, that his Jama’at should exemplify love and compassion and illuminate the path towards spiritual salvation for all mankind. He expressed his sincere desire for Ahmadis to distinguish themselves from others by consistently seeking Allah’s rewards and pleasure by following His commands.
As a model for his Jama’at, the Promised Messiahas presented the example of the blessed Companions of the Holy Prophetsaw, who, upon accepting Islam, shed all of their immoral practices and customs without a moment’s hesitation. Deep within their souls, a spiritual awakening occurred, and as a result, they came to personify compassion, grace, and mercy. Their humanity and benevolence knew no limits.
Consequently, where they were able to excel in righteous deeds and to attain the nearness of God, they were also able to inspire a spiritual revolution in society. Thus, over
So, at all times, strive to embody the teachings and practices of the Holy Prophetsaw, which, in this era, have been taught to us by the Promised Messiahas “
“
So, as Waaqifaat-e-Nau, irrespective of your level of education or qualifications, never underestimate your true value and potential.
time, Islam’s teachings spread far and wide. So, as Waaqifaat-e-Nau, irrespective of your level of education or qualifications, never underestimate your true value and potential.
If you demonstrate the highest moral standards and conduct within your homes, it will not only be a means of cultivating excellent morals and firm faith in your children, but will also serve as a powerful means of Tabligh [propagation]. Your good character, integrity, modesty, and truthful words will serve as a magnet, drawing the hearts and minds of good-natured people towards you. Thereafter, when you pray for them to be rightly guided, Allah will listen to and accept your prayers. In this way, Insha’Allah [Godwilling], you will become the gateway for many people to embrace Islam. Moreover, your words, deeds, and high morals will serve to render futile the false criticism or allegations routinely directed at Islam.
Thereafter, do not think that you can fulfil the demands of your pledge simply by giving a few hours of your time to the Jama’at or to Lajna [Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Auxiliary Organisation] each week. Instead, as Waaqifaat-e-Nau, you must not only ensure that your homes mirror and exemplify Islam’s values, but also that you play your role in propagating its teachings to your friends, colleagues, and whosoever is within your reach.
Similarly, those girls who are still in school, college or university should not think that their only objective is to gain an education. Of course, gaining an education is vitally important. It is a means of your personal progress and development. It should also empower you to serve the Jama’at proficiently and give you the confidence and ability to defend and propagate Islam with logic and reason.
Furthermore, your pursuit of knowledge shall serve as a resounding answer to those who falsely claim that Islam does not value the education or empowerment of women and girls. Thus, as you progress through school, college, or university, do not have the mindset that your education is merely a means of getting a job or earning money. Rather, Ahmadi students should consider their education as an opportunity and platform to spread the beautiful teachings of Islam through the excellence of their character and the strength of their moral values.
The way to preach to your friends, teachers or those within your orbit is not through force or harsh words. Rather, it is through love, compassion and by exemplifying the Islamic values of truth, integrity, kindness, and piety at every moment of your life. If and when you reach this high standard, you will fulfil the true spirit of your waqf
In this regard, the Promised Messiahas has given us many instructions. For example, he said that a person who devotes their life to their faith should never fall prey to laziness or negligence. Rather, they should be energetic, proficient, and ever ready to work. Therefore, as Waaqifaat-e-Nau, pray that Allah saves you from laziness and enables you to serve your religion with distinction, dedication, and proficiency.
Moreover, the Promised Messiahas stated that it is the obligation of those who have accepted him to ensure that the divine signs of Allah never fade into obscurity or become lost in the passage of time. So ask yourselves, how can you stop the signs of Allah becoming lost or forgotten? How can you prove that Allah is a living God?
Quite simply, it is by establishing a connection with Him. It is by ensuring that you observe the five daily prayers on time and with immense humility and devotion. It should not be that you offer namaz [the five daily prayers] very quickly as a token gesture or to satisfy your elders. Salat [five daily prayers] becomes mandatory at the age of 10, and most of you have reached that age. You must prioritise the five daily prayers above all personal tasks and activities. Doing so will never lead to any harm or disadvantage you in any way. Instead, your prayers will serve as a means of your success and continued prosperity.
If you are regular in offering Salat, Allah the Almighty will bless you and He will also safeguard your future generations. In this regard, the Promised Messiahas said that if someone is pious and diligently fulfils the rights of Allah and His worship, then Allah takes it upon Himself to fulfil their every need and requirement. Thus, cast aside all fear that prioritising Allah and making worldly sacrifices for His sake will lead to loss or suffering. Allah will never abandon those who put their trust in Him and who make sacrifices for His sake. He will bless such people abundantly, so long as their worship remains sincere.
Thus, the Promised Messiahas states that your worship should be pure and free from the superficiality or a desire to impress others. Nor should we treat our prayers like an unwanted burden or assignment that we perform half-heartedly and try to complete as quickly as possible. Allah has no interest in such worship.
Further, the Promised Messiahas has repeatedly emphasised the importance of reading the Holy Qur’an every day and striving to act upon its supreme and universal
teachings. If you gain knowledge of the Qur’an, it will not only enable you to live a purposeful and beneficial existence, but it will also unlock the doors of Tabligh as you will be able to speak with reason, logic and evidence in defence of Islam.
Moreover, if you act upon the commands given in the Holy Qur’an, it will not only elevate your spiritual and moral levels and draw you close to Allah, but it will also prove the means of fulfilling all your worldly needs and desires. It will facilitate the moral training of your future generations. Strive, therefore, to establish a relationship of faithfulness and loyalty with Allah the Almighty through His worship and by firmly attaching yourself to His words.
All of you should recite the Holy Qur’an daily, read its translation, and seek to understand its deeper meanings by reading the commentaries published by the Jama’at. In every aspect of your lives, always seek to identify Islam’s teachings and act upon them. Be ready for every sacrifice required of your faith.
In this regard, the Promised Messiahas expressed his desire and hope that his followers came to resemble and emulate the Companions of the Holy Prophetsaw It is a matter of historical record that during the era of the Holy Prophetsaw, his female Companions made monumental sacrifices for the sake of their faith. Many endured barbaric cruelties and torture. Some Muslim women even gave their lives to the cause of Islam, and so attained the rank of martyrdom.
Be ready for whatever sacrifices are required by your faith and religion. For this, you must never forget Allah the Almighty. Every day, strive to strengthen your connection with Him. “
Furthermore, several female Companions of the Holy Prophetsaw participated in wars and valiantly fought with remarkable courage and fearlessness. They did not seek exemption as women, nor did they consider themselves too delicate to defend Islam. Instead, they demonstrated immense bravery and rendered extraordinary sacrifices for their faith.
Likewise, in this era, akin to those early heroines of faith, Ahmadi women have also embraced martyrdom, while others have been imprisoned in most inhumane and testing conditions solely because of their faith.
Some Ahmadi women write to me expressing frustration or fear that men have more opportunities to make sacrifices for their faith or to achieve the status of martyrdom. In reply, I refer them to the noble history of our Jama’at, where Ahmadi women have consistently made outstanding sacrifices. For example, recently, a baseless allegation was made against an Ahmadi woman in Pakistan by non-Ahmadi extremists. As a result, she was jailed for months before finally being released on bail. She withstood this trial with exemplary patience and never weakened in faith. As Waaqifaat-e-Nau, you should seek to emulate and follow such pious examples.
Be ready for whatever sacrifices are required by your faith and religion. For this, you must never forget Allah the Almighty. Every day, strive to strengthen your connection with Him. Study the Holy Qur’an and seek to understand Allah’s teachings and commands. Only then will you grasp the true values, essence, and importance of making sacrifices for the sake of your faith. Then, whenever you have a chance to make a sacrifice for your faith, instead of feeling pain or loss, you will experience heartfelt joy and delight. You will view sacrifices not as hardship but as a blessing and opportunity to draw closer to your Creator.
Also, it is of paramount importance that you increase your religious knowledge. Some Ahmadis become anxious or fearful when allegations are levelled against Islam and Ahmadiyyat. However, if you have a deep knowledge of your faith, you will not feel anxious or worried. Instead, you will be equipped with the intellectual capability to address any criticism or false allegations made against our religion and beliefs. So, you must study the Holy Qur’an and read the books of the Promised Messiahas, many of which have been translated into English.
As is often said, knowledge is power. So, if you have religious knowledge, it will not only strengthen your faith, but will also empower you to respond to the opponents of Islam and guide those who are weaker in faith. It will enable you to stop those who seek to incite division within the Jama’at
Therefore, as a member of the Waqf-e-Nau scheme, recognise that you are soldiers serving in the righteous cause of Islam’s spiritual army. It is not a physical battlefield upon which you have been called to serve. Rather, it is a spiritual arena that you have presented yourself in for duty. And, your task is to enlighten mankind to the truth and magnificence of the teachings of Islam.
So, even more than other Ahmadis, it is your duty to stand on the front line and be at the vanguard of defending Islam and the noble character of the Holy Prophetsaw to win the hearts of mankind through the power of love and kindness.
This is your mission. This is your objective.
This is your pledge.
Remember, nothing can be achieved without effort and hard work. So, as I mentioned earlier, never fall prey to laziness.
Further, I wish to again highlight the importance of seeking to increase your religious knowledge. You must study the Holy Qur’an and also read the books of the Promised Messiahas. You should listen to the Friday sermons of Khalifa-e-Waqt [Caliph of the time] and pay close attention to whatever guidance or instruction he gives.
Remember that the Holy Prophetsaw said that a true believer is gifted with insight and wisdom. As a result, such believers can refute whatever allegations or objections are raised against their teachings. So, try to cultivate insight by deepening your connection with Allah, enhancing your understanding of the Holy Qur’an, and studying the writings of the Promised Messiahas.
As your religious knowledge and insight increase, you will naturally progress both spiritually and morally. And then, surely, the benevolent, loving, and merciful gaze of Allah the Almighty will descend upon you. And if you come to possess Allah’s love, no enemy or adversary can ever harm you, nor can any trial or challenge weaken, misguide, or overpower you.
With these words, I pray that may Allah the Almighty enable you to act upon all that I have said and be among those who truly live their lives according to the teachings of Islam. May you come to fulfil your true objective, which is to play a distinguished role in the spiritual victory of Islam that is destined to come, Insha’Allah.
Finally, to the younger girls present, I wish to remind them of the importance of their studies and education. All of you should be determined to excel in your studies with the intention that where your education will help you personally, it will also benefit others and the Jama’at. Furthermore, from a young age, you should be firm in your faith and never be scared or fearful of those who oppose your religious beliefs.
At the end, I pray that may every single step taken by the Waaqifaat-e-Nau be in the direction of Allah the Almighty. May all of you be among those who constantly remember Him and seek His nearness. May Allah the Almighty grant you the ability to remain forever loyal and obedient to Him and to fulfil your pledge to serve your faith with distinction throughout your lives, Ameen.’
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARENTS
OF WAQF-E-NAU CHILDREN
“So, I want to convey to all such mothers and fathers that just the name of Waqfe-Nau is not enough. Rather, Waqf-e-Nau is an important responsibility. It is the responsibility of the parents until the Waqfe-Nau becomes an adult, and thereafter, it becomes his own responsibility.”
Maryam Magazine brings the readers a feature dedicated to the parents of Waqf-e-Nau children and their responsibilities.
On 3rd April 1987, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IVrh proposed to the Community to follow the traditions of the Prophets and dedicate their most prized possession - their yet-to-be-born children in the way of Allah, to the cause of Islam, propagation of Ahmadiyyat and service to mankind. To present one’s child to Allah is an extremely important event and is no ordinary thing and it is a form of gift which one should present to Allah in a beautiful way. The beauty of a human is through his Taqwa – righteousness. So, before these children have grown to an age that they are to be ‘given’ to the Jama’at, their parents have a great responsibility.
In his Friday Sermon, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh said: “Allah turned my attention to this matter so that I should ask you to vow that the children born to you in the next two years, whether male or female, would be offered for Waqf as a gift to Allah. The expectant mothers who could not participate in this scheme before can take part in it now. They can also vow. But this vow has to be made by both parents. They should decide on this together, so that there is unity of purpose in the upbringing and education of these children. And they should start training them in the best possible way right from their childhood.”
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, Friday Sermon, 28th October 2016
Initially, the scheme was launched for two years, but this was later extended to four and after that, the scheme was made permanent with the added clause that those parents who wish to devote the lives of their children must do it before their birth.
On 10th and 17th February 1989, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh mentioned some of the responsibilities of parents towards Waqifeen-e-Nau of which some are listed below:
1
2
Parents should watch their children closely.
8
3
They should pay special attention to certain aspects of moral training.
If the parents think their child is not worthy for Waqf, then they should fear God and inform the Jama’at.
9
10
Parents should help their children to attain the highest standard of honesty and trust worthiness.
Parents should teach their children to be jovial and pleasant.
Good humour and forbearance are the two qualities that Waqifeen-eNau should be taught.
4
5
Parents should inculcate love and truthfulness in the heart of their children.
Parents will have to attend to their own training before training their children.
11
From the beginning, Waqifeen-e-Nau should be taught the Holy Qur’an.
12
Parents should inculcate in their child the habit to recite the Holy Qur’an daily and with comprehension.
6
Parents will have to be more cautious and careful during conversation in their homes and avoid any kind of gossip.
13
Parents should ensure that their children have a vast religious and secular knowledge.
7
They should be taught contentment and dislike to greed for wealth and material gain.
14
Parents should subscribe to magazines and newspapers for their children.
Parents should instil in them the habit of reading books that will increase their knowledge
When Waqifeen-e-Nau go to school, parents should choose such subjects for them that will introduce them to science. They should have some knowledge of all the diverse subjects.
17
Waqifeen-e-Nau should be taught patience and tolerance. 18
Waqifeen-e-Nau should be taught from childhood the habit of stating what is known to be a fact as a fact and what is a surmise as a surmise. 19 They should be taught typing.
They should be taught how to keep account. There should be great emphasis on honesty.
Hazoorrh said “Great nations are made in their homes”.
From childhood, Waqifeene-Nau should be made strong and obedient to the Nizaam-e- Jama’at. 23 24 25 26 27
Parents should not say anything against the Nizaame-Jama’at in their homes.
Waqifeen-e-Nau should be trained to become great leaders. Teach loyalty to your children.
Explain to your children that Waqf is a solemn matter; that it is a vow that you made with Allah.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh said “Once I had the chance of visiting Disneyland in America. There was a ride that had extremely dangerous turns and a very fast speed. It took sudden turns that could be dangerous for individuals with weak hearts. So, they had posted warnings stating that you can go back at this point and in the end there was a warning in red that said; ‘This is the end. Now you cannot go back.’ So, there will be a ‘gate’ when the children who have been dedicated for Waqf now, will be told, ‘This is the last door after this you cannot go back. If you have courage to bargain your life, if you can offer everything to Allah irrevocably, only then come forward otherwise go back immediately.’ So, make them ready to pass through this gate now.”
28 29 30
It is important and necessary to pay attention to their physical health from the childhood. They should be encouraged to partake in sports. Keep them away from absurd literature.
31 Their good manners should win the hearts of the people.
32
Great emphasis should be laid on Arabic and Urdu. After that their local language. Chinese and Russian are also important.
33
Waaqifaat-e-Nau should be taught home management and household account.
Waaqifaat-e-Nau should be taught teaching, medicine, computer science, typing, languages.
34
Great emphasis should be laid on prayers so they have a close and personal relationship with Allah from childhood.
These were some of the points Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh mentioned in his Friday Sermons.
Parents should listen to the full Friday Sermons which are also available on the Waqfe-Nau International Website: www.waqfenauintl.org.
Parents have a great responsibility as their Waqf-e-Nau children will be the leaders of the future nation. Tarbiyyat plays a great role, and the first example children see are that of their parents. For that parents are also requested to do the following:
1. A personal file should be created for each Waqf-e-Nau child. This file should contain the birth certificate, Waqf-e-Nau acceptance letter, vaccination record, etc. Your child’s progress should also be recorded in this file, e.g., the date when Yassarnal Qur’an was completed, the date when Salat was memorized, and the school reports from school. A copy of the file should be kept with the local Waqf-e-Nau secretary. When moving to another town, this file should be passed on to the new Waqf-e-Nau secretary. Copies of all documents should be sent to the National Headquarters so central records are up to date and complete.
2. Parents should adopt an attitude of moderation in their child’s training. The child should be treated neither with extreme strictness nor with excessive lenience.
3. A child’s training should be done by personal example. Parents should develop all those habits in themselves which they would like to see in their children.
“Beloved Hazoor, my name is Abeera Khan and by the grace of Allah Almighty, I’m 9 years old and a Waqf-eNau girl writing to you, from Sydney, Australia”.
This is a line that is always a part of my letter to Hazoor-e-Anwaraba seeking prayers. That is because even before I was born and my mother had no idea whether I’d be a boy or a girl, she prayed and pledged to Allah Almighty that I become a servant of the Faith. Just as the mother of Hazrat Maryamas prayed, which is recorded in the Holy Qur’an,
“My Lord, I have vowed to Thee what is in my womb to be dedicated to Thy service. So, do accept it of me; verily, Thou alone art All-Hearing, AllKnowing” (3:36).
Thus, each day I feel, our parents strive towards this pledge, by praying for us, teaching us, shaping us to be a beautiful gift, equipped with good values, knowledge and skills that can be useful for the Jama’at so the mission of Allah, under the guidance of our beloved Khalifa can be achieved. And now, the responsibility of fulfilling the promise made to Allah by our loving parents rests with us too, because Allah says in the Holy Qur’an,
“Those who fulfil Allah’s pact, and break not the covenant. (13:21) Peace be unto you, because you were steadfast; behold how excellent is the reward of the final Abode!” (13:25).
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Waaqifa, I understand that my first and topmost responsibility is to build a connection with Allah Almighty and with my beloved Khalifa. This requires me to offer my prayers with devotion and listen to Hazoor-e-Anwaraba with all my heart and aim to obey. Therefore, I remember watching a Bustan-eWaqfe Nau Class,i with my Mum, in which the Friday Sermon of 28th October 2016ii was discussed, where Hazooraba mentioned all the responsibilities and his expectations from Waqifeen-e-Nau and Waaqifaat-e-Nau.
I learnt from this class that Waqifeen-e-Nau are “special”, but beloved Hazooraba said that the title of being special can only be earned by Waqifeen if they can prove that they are ahead of others in their standards of worship, if they recite the Holy Qur’an, look for its commandments, and act upon them. If their language and talking manners are extremely high. If their dress and purdah is symbolic of true Islamic education. If they regularly take part in the programs of the Jama’at and their auxiliaries; if they excel in treating their parents well and pray for them. If they are in the front row to obey the Khalifa; if they listen to Friday Sermons and regularly watch MTA so that they keep on getting guidance. If they act upon these and all those matters that are liked by Allah and keep away from all those things that Allah has forbidden, then they are distinct and rather very special.
Then, in a virtual meeting with Waqf-e-Nau, Canadaiii, I remember Hazooraba said a good Waqf-e-Nau should not waste time on the internet or playing video games, and they should try to watch good tv programs, not bad ones. Waqf-e-Nau should try to work hard and strive in their studies to get better grades. The study of the commentary of the Holy Qur’an and the books of the Promised Messiahas is necessary for every Waqf-e-Nau.
Hazooraba also instructed in the Friday sermon of 28th October 2016, that it’s the responsibility of each Waqf-e-Nau to write to the Khalifa-of-the-time at the age of 15, to renew our pledges, presenting ourselves to the Khalifa and go according to his directions. We should devote all our strength and abilities to fulfil our parents’ and our own pledges. Hazooraba said that if we do this, then Allah the Exalted bestows His blessings and leaves none without reward.
WAAQIFAAT-E-NAU: A ROLE MODEL
I would like to conclude on the advice of my beloved Hazooraba because as a Waaqifa, I understand that my ultimate responsibility is to adhere to my Khalifa who is guided by Allah. Thus, in a recent Virtual Mulaqat with Waaqifaat-e-Nau, Canadaiv and on Waaqifaat-e-Nau Ijtema UK 2023v,
Hazooraba told Waaqifaat-e-Nau that they must take a stand for the sake of Allah the Almighty and bring about a moral and spiritual revolution in the world by becoming a pious role model, just as our master, the Holy Prophetsaw did. Through our words and especially our deeds, we must educate and inspire others towards the beautiful teachings of Islam.
I pray that Allah the exalted grants us the wisdom to understand the responsibility of Waqf and enables us to fulfil our pledges, acting upon the advice and the expectations of our beloved Khalifa, Ameen!

Te Essence of Waqf-e-Nau is a translation of a Friday Sermon delivered by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, on October 28th, 2016. In this sermon, Hazooraba espouses the true essence of the Waqf-e-Nau initiative. Te purpose is to raise children to be devotees of the Community, those who are willing to lay down their lives and spiritually attain lofy heights, just as the companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw had done. Having a Waqf-e-Nau child does not deem any merit on its own. Hazooraba stresses the point that these children are not special just by being Waqf-e-Nau. Rather, they will be seen as special by Allah only if they uphold their responsibilities and become true, ardent servants of Allah. Just as Hazrat Maryamas devoted her unborn child in the way of God, it is the parent’s duty to raise their children with the proper intention and sincerity.
KHILAFAT AND
ITS LINK
TO THE SYSTEM OF AL-WASIYYAT
Salma Manahil Malik
As an Ahmadi, seeing the state of other Muslims in the world, one realises that the biggest blessing we could have asked for is the institution of Khilafat. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah the Almighty has promised the believers that if they believe and do good works, He will bless them with the Khilafat:
“Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will surely make them Successors in the earth…” (The Holy Qur’an, 24:56)
This verse means that the promise of Khilafat is dependent on – at the very least – a core group of believers who are truly righteous and who do good works. In light of this verse, we believe that the true Khilafat is not a hereditary monarchy or a political rule, but a divinely appointed institution that arises after a prophet to continue the mission he started.
Following the demise of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw, the rightly guided Khilafat (Khulafae-Rashideen) served as the direct continuation of his mission. After centuries of spiritual decline, the prophecy of the advent of the Promised Messiah was fulfilled in the person of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas of Qadian, who declared under divine command that he was the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi.
Upon his demise in 1908, this divine institution of Khilafat was established once again in the form of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya, with Hazrat Hakim Maulvi Noorud-Deenra becoming the first Successor to the Promised Messiahas. This form of leadership had been foretold by the Promised Messiahas in his book The Will and was referred to as the “Second Manifestation of God’s power”
The Promised Messiahas wrote:
“So dear friends! Since it is the Sunnatullah (practice of Allah) from time immemorial that God Almighty shows two Manifestations so that the two false joys of the opponents be put to an end, it is not possible now that God should relinquish His Sunnah of old. So do not grieve over what I have said to you... For it is essential for you to witness the second Manifestation also, and its Coming is better for you.” 1
It was in this same book that the Promised Messiahas outlined a new scheme known as “Al-Wasiyyat”. The primary purpose of Al-Wasiyyat was to provide a means of spiritual purification, financial sacrifice, and collective responsibility for the propagation of Islam and care for the poor. Members who join this system (known as a Moosi or Moosia) pledge to live righteously, dedicate a portion of their wealth (between 1/10 – 1/3, as a result of which they are buried in the Bahishti Maqbara [Heavenly Graveyard]).
More importantly, the Promised Messiahas declared that Al-Wasiyyat would serve as a foundation for the continuity of his mission after his demise:
“God Almighty desires to draw all those who live in various habitations of the world, be it Europe or Asia, and who have virtuous nature, to the Oneness of God and unite His servants under one Faith. This indeed is the purpose of God for which I have been sent to the world.” 2
Khilafat as the Natural Continuation
of Al-Wasiyyat
What distinguishes Al-Wasiyyat is that it is not merely a financial system but is intrinsically tied to the concept of successorship, i.e., Khilafat. In each era, the Khalifa of the time reminds the community of their collective responsibility and, through the system of Al-Wasiyyat, how they can attain paradise.
In a Friday sermon delivered on 26th August 1932, Hazrat Musleh Maudra said that Allah has blessed us with something remarkable and through this [Wasiyyat scheme] Paradise has been brought nearer to you.3
This sacred bond between the Moosi and the Khalifa is instrumental in creating a community that is spiritually resilient and divinely protected.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, frequently reminds members of the Jama’at that joining the scheme of Wasiyyat is not simply about financial contribution, but about dedicating one’s life to the cause of Islam. Hazooraba has said that those who join the system of Wasiyyat must understand that they are bound to strive in every way possible for their own moral and spiritual uplift, and to fully obey the Khalifa of the time. 4
He further said:
“Therefore, seek the ways of pleasing God, and in this age one of these ways is joining the institution of Wasiyyat Hence you should hasten towards it. Also, the institution of Wasiyyat has a deep affinity with the institution of Khilafat. In his book Al-Wasiyyat the Promised Messiahas has written about two important matters, one of these is the appearance of the Second Manifestation after his demise, i.e., the establishment of the institution of Khilafat that would last to the end of days. As long as there are people who undergo spiritual transformation, the Jama’at’s level of taqwa will keep rising, and then through these righteous people who make sacrifices the true Islamic Khilafat will continue forever, because it is only to the Jama’at of the righteous that God has promised Khilafat. We ought to value this gift and become attached to it with full sincerity and devotion. Remember that all our progress is linked to Khilafat. May Allah enable all of you to be obedient to Khilafat and to enter into the institution of Wasiyyat so that both you and your progeny will continue to reap Allah’s blessings and enter the paradise of His pleasure. May God be with you.” 5

An English Translation of the Book Al-Wasiyyat
By Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah & Mahdias
Thus, Khilafat is not only the “second manifestation” promised in The Will, but also the spiritual custodian of the Wasiyyat Scheme. It is through the Khalifa that the moral training, propagation and financial integrity of the Wasiyyat scheme are maintained. The system of Khilafat and Al-Wasiyyat are two divinely instituted and mutually reinforcing pillars of the Jama’at. While Khilafat provides spiritual leadership and administrative continuity after the Prophethood of the Promised Messiahas, Al-Wasiyyat cultivates a righteous community committed to sacrifice, unity, and the propagation of Islam. Together, they form a spiritual framework that ensures the continued growth, discipline, and divine guidance of the Jama’at.
It is through the sacred institution of Khilafat that the promises made in The Will find their practical and spiritual fulfilment. The unbroken chain of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya today stands as a living testimony to the truth of the Promised Messiahas and a beacon of divine leadership for the world.

Five Moral Values
1. Truthfulness
2. Clean and decent language
3. Tolerance and forbearance
In a Friday Sermon on 10th February 1989, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh outlined five fundamental moral qualities that all Waqfe Nau should possess and make permanent in their daily lives:
4. Feeling the pain and suffering of others
5. High resolve and determination
1. Truthfulness
Waqfe Nau Syllabus, Part 2, (Years 7-15) p.73 https://www.waqfenauintl.org/age-7-15/ https://www.alislam.org/book/sermons-waqf-e-nau/
As Waaqifaat-e-Nau girls, we should always tell the truth. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba guided Waaqifaat-e-Nau at the 2023 National Ijtema UK that:
a. Truthfulness is a really important virtue
b. We should not have even the smallest amount of falsehood or deception in our words
c. We should not even have the smallest amount of falsehood or deception in our actions too
d. Even when telling a joke, we should not say anything that is a lie or even misleading
e. Waaqifaat-e-Nau should be the most truthful https://www.alislam.org/articles/waqfaat-e-nau-realising-your-true-value-status/
2. Cleanliness and Decent Language
In the Friday Sermon on 10th February 1989, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh taught that:
b. We should be able to control and stop our anger
a. We should always speak to others respectfully and kindly
c. When someone says something that we do not agree with, we should adopt the habit of pausing, waiting and thinking of a proper and respectful reply, rather than replying straight away
d. We should not look down on those who are less knowledgeable than us
https://www.alislam.org/book/sermons-waqf-e-nau/
At the 2018 National Waqifeen-e-Nau Ijtema UK address, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba also reminds us of this:
‘When you are young, it is easy to become angry over small things, but as a Waqfe Nau, you should control your temper and show patience at all times. Furthermore, when you interact with other people, you should speak kindly and your conduct and manners should be exemplary.’
All Ahmadis, but especially Waaqifaat-e-Nau, should practice tolerance and forbearance in their everyday life.
a. For our 5 daily prayers
What is forbearance? Forbearance means self-control and restraint. There are hundreds of examples daily of scenarios in which we need to utilise forbearance. For example:
In order to ensure we do not miss or delay our prayers, we need to make sure we do not get distracted by worldly affairs or education and that we do not make excuses – rather as soon as is it time to pray, we remove ourselves from whatever we are doing such as watching TV or playing, and we go pray to our Allah with full concentration.
b. In times of difficulty or when we have a personal interest in something
It is really easy to preach to others that they should behave in a good way. It is also not so hard to display good behaviours in front of others for a short while or in a situation which does not affect you. However, when it is something concerning ourselves, this is where it is a real test of our tolerance and self-control. In these scenarios, we must be kind, selfless and good-mannered at all times.
c. When negative feelings arise
In our day-to-day life, things may happen that cause us to have feelings of dislike towards something or someone. Or at times, we may be doing something good and start to feel arrogance and pride about it. In these situations, we must control ourselves and practice a personal jihad against these feelings.
You want to keep playing, but it’s prayer time
Task: Match the situation with the good response
Thank Allah and stay humble
Can you think of more examples in your day where you have to use your self-control to be a better Waaqifaat-e-Nau Ahmadi Muslim?
You feel angry with a friend
You’re proud after doing a good deed
Make Niyyat and go pray
Breathe, wait and reply kindly
4. Feeling the Pain and Suffering of Others
Addressing the Waqfe Nau in 2017 at the National Waqfe Nau Ijtema UK, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba said:
“Our Waqfe Nau should be selfless in nature and never selfish. You should consider how you can help others and fulfil their rights, rather than worrying about your own needs or entitlements.”
Hazooraba continued:
“A Waqfe Nau should never be the cause of pain for others, instead they should always be kind, compassionate and caring. Hence, wherever, and whenever, you can help or assist other people, you should never waste the opportunity.”
In the 2018 National Waqifeen-e-Nau Ijtema, Hazooraba also said:
‘Seek ways to help and assist others and try to solve their problems. Consider the pain of other people as though it is your own and give comfort to them.’
So, as Waaqifaat-e-Nau, we should worry less about our own needs; rather, we should search for opportunities to help other people.
Siblings/Friends
Task: Be extra helpful to someone you know! Can you think of people in your life whom you can be helpful to and how?
Neighbours
Parents
How can you help the following people?
Help carry their groceries
Share toys
5. High Resolve and Determination
Check if they need any help around the house
As Waaqifaat-e-Nau, we should never stop our efforts in developing a righteous society that follows the teachings of Allah. For the sake of our religion, we must be ready to make every sacrifice.
At the 2023 National Waqfe Nau Ijtema, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba said that we should take inspiration from noble women of the past who showed resolve and determination.
Some examples Hazooraba mentioned are:
a. The female disciples of Jesusas - after Jesusas was taken down from the cross, it was the 3 women, Mary Magdalene and 2 others, who came to help him. The authorities had threatened punishment to those who would help Jesusas but these women showed determination and courage.
b. Hazrat Umm Amarahra - showed outstanding bravery and steadfastness during various battles of Islam, even more so than many Muslim men.
c. Hazrat Fatimara – (the sister of Hazrat Umarra) who tolerated the wrath of her enraged brother in order to ensure the sanctity and dignity of the Holy Qur’an was preserved. Seeing his sister’s supreme level of faith moved Hazrat Umarra and proved a watershed moment in his life, leading him to accept Islam.

Attendance
By the grace of Allah, the Ijtema saw a total attendance of 2,078 with a total of 1379 Waaqifaate-Nau over 7 years attending.
Concluding Session
The main event was the eagerly awaited address by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba
The concluding session began with Tilawat by Sajeela-Noor Nadeem Sahiba, English translation by Farhanah Luqman Sahiba, Nazm by Lubna Waheed Sahiba, and Nazm translation by Fatiha Nadeem Sahiba. This was followed by the Ijtema summary report delivered by Muavina Sadr Waaqifaat-e-Nau, Maleeha Mansur Sahiba.
Beloved Hazooraba then delivered a deeply inspiring address, reminding the Waaqifaate-Nau of their lifelong pledge and the responsibilities that accompany it. Beloved Hazooraba highlighted the importance of prioritising faith above all worldly matters, and of striving to live lives rooted in humility, service, and devotion.
Reflections of Attendees
Some of the Waaqifaat-eNau fortunate to attend the Ijtema, shared their thoughts and feelings after the Ijtema.
““Hazoor'saba speech was both emotive and emotional. From the beginning, it felt like Hazooraba was talking directly to us. Mentioning that he remembers us from a young age and now that some of us have children of our own. Hazooraba also succinctly and seamlessly covered so many topics, such as Tarbiyyat, sacrifce, the importance of the Holy Qur’an and prayer. The fact that Hazooraba spoke about professionals and non-professionals really highlighted the all-encompassing speech. JazakAllah, we are very blessed to have Beloved Hazoor aba .”
““Beloved Hazoor'saba address speaks to me very closely, as someone who is growing up in a society and environment where it can be very easy to stray from religion, Hazoor'saba attention to the issues young people face regarding this is so unique and compassionate. Often, we hear of other religious leaders admonishing their congregations, and today's address is another reminder of the loving nature of Hazoor'saba guidance. It is uplifting and humbling to know that Hazooraba places a great deal of trust in our generation to raise the next generation with strong Islamic principles and guide humanity towards God, whilst focusing on self-reformation”
Conclusion
This year’s Ijtema served as a spiritual recharge and a reaffirmation of purpose for Waaqifaat-e-Nau across the UK. We are ever grateful to Allah Almighty for enabling us to hold this blessed gathering and for the honour of being in the company of our beloved Hazooraba
May Allah Almighty enable all Waaqifaat-e-Nau to live up to the noble expectations of their pledge and be true assets to the Jama’at and society. InshAllah. Ameen.
Paigham-e-Sulh (A Message of Peace) is the last written work of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi. It was completed on May 25, 1908, just a day before his demise.
ABOUT THE BOOK
In a world plagued with intolerance for cultural, racial and religious differences, A Message of Peace serves as a panacea to the ills of society. Prophetic in foresight and universal in scope, this book lays out a path to the peaceful existence of all humans based on the central theme of worshipping the One God. It is not surprising, therefore, that A Message of Peace forms the last work of a man who was destined to lay the foundation for the establishment of peace in this day and age and whose advent was prophesied in all major religions of the world - The Promised Messiah and Reformer of the Latter Days.
“My countrymen!” writes the Promised Messiahas, “A religion which does not inculcate universal compassion is no religion at all. Similarly, a human being without the faculty of compassion is no human at all.”
Q&A’S FROM THE BOOK:
MESSAGE
by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi
Q: What do Muslims and Hindus share alike?
OF
Peace A
...Notwithstanding the hundreds of differences between us, Muslims and Hindus alike share one thing in common, i.e., we all believe in God, the Creator and Master of the Universe. Also, we belong to the same denomination of God’s species and are referred to as humans. Furthermore, as inhabitants of the same country, we are mutual neighbours. This requires that we become friends to each other, with purity of heart and sincerity of intentions. We should dispose kindly to each other and be m t a y p n t di fc ti s p rtainin to r i io s and worldly matters, we should exercise such sympathy towards each other as if we have become limbs of the same body. (p.5-6)
Q: Does God discriminate between people?
Our God has never discriminated between one people and another. This is illustrated by the fact that all the potentials and capabilities which have been granted to the Aryans have also been granted to the races inhabiting Arabia, Persia, Syria, China, Japan, Europe and Am rica art cr at d y od pro id s a common oor or a people alike, and His sun and moon and many stars are a source of radianc and pro id many ot r n fts to a a i i is a p op s n ft rom t m nts cr at d y im s c as air at r fr and art and simi ar y rom ot r prod cts cr at d y im i grain, fruit, and healing agents, etc. These attributes of God teach us the lesson that we, too, should behave magnanimously and kindly towards our fellow human beings and should not be petty of heart and illiberal. (p.6)
Q:
What does the Promised Messiahas invite Muslims and Hindus to?
In precarious times such as these I invite you to truce, as reconciliation is urgently required by both nations. Many a calamity is befalling the world; there are earthquakes and there are famines. Over and above the earthquakes and famines we continue to be plagued by the bubonic pestilence. Moreover, the i in r ations ic od as con y d to m rt r confrm that if people do not mend their evil ways and practices and do not repent their sins, the world will be further visited by other severe calamities. One misery will not end before another follows. Eventually, people will reach the end of their tether and will wonder what is happening to them and what next is in store for them. They will be pushed to the edge of their senses by calamity upon calamity. So, take heed my countrymen, before such evil days confront you. It is highly essential that Hindus and the Muslims should come to terms with each other and if either of the two parties is guilty of such excesses as obstruct the path of peace, they are better advised to desist from pursuing that course. (p.12)
Q: Who was Sri Krishna?
The good news in all this for those who seek reconciliation is that all of the Islamic teachings are also found in the different parts of Vedic teaching. For instance, although the newborn branch of Vedic faith entitled Arya Samaj teaches that after the revelation of the Vedas, communication from God to man was sealed, the great avatars born in the Hindu faith from time to time, who have millions upon millions of followers in this country, have doubtlessly broken that seal by claiming to be recipients of Divine revelation. One such elect Divine representative, who is greatly revered in this country and Bengal, is known as Sri Krishna. He claimed to be the recipient of God’s Word and his followers not only believe him to be a Messenger but some consider him to be God p rsonif d r is no do t o r t at Sri ris na as a Messenger and a representative of God in his time, and God conversed with him. (p.13)
Q: Who was Baba Nanak?
i is rom amon t ind p op o t att r ays as one named Baba Nanak, whose saintliness has become a byword in this country. His followers, the Sikhs, number no less than two million. Baba Sahib openly claims to be the recipient of revelation in the Janam Sakhis and the Granth. In one Janam Sakhi he states that he had received this he performed Hajj and followed the Islamic injunctions meticulously. It is established without doubt that great signs and miracles were manifested by him. It goes without question that Baba Nanak was a holy and pious man. He was one of those whom God, the Mighty, the Glorious, made drink out of His goblet of love. He was born among Hindus only to bear witness that Islam is from God. (pp.13-14)
Q: Who was Buddha?
Gautum Buddha was one brave enough who stood up to achieve this goal. He did not agree with the erroneous view that the Vedas are everything and that there is nothing beyond them. Nor did he believe in any people, country or tribe as being exceptional. In other words, he did not agree that the Vedas enjoyed a monopoly and it was only this faith, this language, this country, and the Brahmans which had been permanently and exclusively registered in the court records of God to become the recipients of His revelation. He suffered greatly because of expressing these different views and he was accused of being an atheist or an agnostic. (p.19)
Q: What does insulting or abusing Prophets or Messengers lead to?
O Dear Ones! Age-old experience and repeated trials have established, without question, that to insult and abuse the Prophets and Messengers of different countries and peoples is such a deadly poison which not only destroys the body but also kills the soul, thereby ruining the worldly prospects as well as the spiritual. A country whose inhabitants are always a t r fndin a ts in t ad rs o ot rs and constant y assassinat their characters, can never rest in peace themselves. Such people can never achieve true unity who, individually or mutually, refer to each other’s Prophets or saints or divines with malice or foul language. (p.22)
Q: What evidence does the Promised Messiahas present for the truthfulness of Prophets?
As for us, we never use indecent language with regard to the Prophets of other peoples. In fact, we believe that for all the Prophets who have come to different peoples of the world and have been accepted by millions of people in all parts of the world, and o or t m and t ir r atn ss as n frm y sta is d in any one part of the world, and further that this state of devotion and love for them has endured the test of time, is evidence enough of their truthfulness. Had they not been from God, they could not have been accepted on such a wide scale by millions upon millions of hearts. God does not bestow such honour upon those whom He favours not. If an imposter aspires to occupy their position, he is soon brought to ruin. (pp.22-23)
Q: If Hindus and those belonging to the Arya faith were prepared to make a complete truce whereby they accept our Prophet, (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to be a true Prophet of God and in future agree to refrain from contempt and slander, then which treaty was the Promised Messiahas ready to sign?
We, the members of the Ahmadiyyah Jama‘at, will testify to the truth of the origin of the Vedas, and will speak of the Vedas and their Rishis with respect and love, and if we do not honour our part o t contract i ia to pay a fn o not ss t an t r hundred thousand rupees to the Hindu community. (p.25)
Should Muslims avoid eating cows if doing so hurts the sentiments of Hindus?
Remember if we are permitted to eat something, it does not follow that we have to eat it. Everything permissible is not obligatory. There are many things which we know to be lawful yet we do not necessarily practice them. To treat Hindus with decency and kindness is one of the important Islamic injunctions. If for the sake of achieving a higher goal one forgoes a right, it will not be against the spirit of the Divine law. To consider something to be lawful is one thing, to utilise it is another. The spirit of piety requires that you abstain from whatever God has forbidden. (p.30)
What is meant by the following verse?
In other words, do not even abuse the idols of the nonbelievers lest they abuse your God out of ignorance. (Surah Al An‘am, 6:109)
Now, consider that this is the Qur’anic teaching despite the fact that it treats ido s as o no si nifcanc t od t ac s t s ims to a stain rom insulting even the idols and admonishes them instead to adopt a course of gentle persuasion lest they [the idolaters] should be provoked, in turn, to abuse God. The Muslims would then be responsible for such abuses. (pp.32-33)
Q: What was the condition of the Arabs to whom the Holy Prophetsaw was sent?
The Arabian Peninsula was in such a hapless state that it was hard to refer to its dwellers as humans. Name an evil which they did not exhibit; name a form of idolatry which they did not practise. To steal and rob was the order of the day, and committing pointless murder was like tramp in an insi nifcant ant nd r t ir t y m rd r d innoc nt children and usurped all that belonged to them. It was not rare for them to bury their daughters alive. They took pride in fornication and boasted of it in their songs. Drinking was so common among them that there was no house without cellars of wine. They led the whole world in gambling. Beasts would feel ashamed at being likened to them and snakes and wolves would be disgraced if called Arabs. (pp.35-36)
Q: What was the transformation the Holy Prophetsaw made in the Arabs?
When our Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up with a resolve to reform them and decided to cleanse their hearts with all his spiritual intent, within a matter of a short time they displayed such rapid changes as transformed them from beasts into humans and then from ordinary humans into a cultured people and from a cultured people they became Godly and became totally immersed in the love of God. For the sake of that love, they suffered every torture as though their sense of pain had been paralysed. They were subjected to extreme s rin y di r nt mod s o tort r and r r t ss y o d y were made to lie on burning sand and imprisoned. They were deprived of food and water until they reached the verge of death; but at every trial they continued to march forward. (p.36)
Q: What can be said to those who claim that those who converted to Islam were forced to change their religion under the threat of the sword?
Now the question one faces is simply this: When he waged his lone spiritual battle for the pronouncement of God’s Unity and for the establishment of the truth of his ministry in a state of utter helplessness and poverty, then where was that sword which struck terror in their hearts, and coerced the meek into submission? And had they refused to believe or had they persisted in their rejection of him, from which king did he beg for a contingent army to be sent to his aid so that they may be forced to yield? (pp.37-38)
Q: What is the primary difference in the intended people of the religions that came before Islam and Islam?
The religions which appeared before Islam and the Prophets and ss n rs t at cam r confn d to t r ormation o t ir o n respective nation and country; whatever they did for their moral uplift as a aim d or t n ft o t ir o n p op is is y s sas unambiguously admitted that his teachings were for the House of Israel alone...
On the contrary, the Holy Qur’an commands the Holy Prophetsaw to say:
That is, tell the people that I am a Messenger to you all from Allah (Al A’raf, 7:159). (pp.42-43)
ECHOES OF PEACE: The Final Messages of the Holy Prophetsaw and the Promised Messiahas
Naila Naseer
The Farewell Sermon of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw was a powerful message given during his last pilgrimage; it is full of wisdom and guidance for generations to come and to secure the future of humanity and mankind. In it, the Holy Prophetsaw spoke about justice, kindness, and unity—reminding everyone that all humans are equal and that we should treat each other with respect. The Holy Prophetsaw exemplified the essence of peace through his teachings and actions, advocating for compassion, justice, and reconciliation in all aspects of life.
More than a thousand years later, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, shared a similar message in his final writings. He called people to live in peace, to get rid of hatred, and to become better, more moral human beings.
This article takes a closer look at these two powerful messages. Even though they were delivered centuries apart, they share the same heart: a call for peace, unity, and love for all people. In a world where conflict, division and destruction is at its peak, their words remind us that true Islam is all about peace and always has been.
Respect is the first step towards real peace. When we start valuing each other, a sense of calm naturally follows.
In his Farewell Sermon, the Holy Prophetsaw placed great emphasis on respect across all aspects of life. He advocated respect for women by declaring:
“Remember, you must always treat your wives well. God has charged you with the duty of looking after them.”1 He extended this concern to the less fortunate—especially prisoners of war—urging: “I advise you, therefore, to feed them and to clothe them in the same way and style as you feed and clothe yourselves.”2 Moreover, he stressed respect and equality among nations and within the Muslim brotherhood, saying: “All of you are equal. All men, whatever nation or tribe they may belong to, and whatever station in life they may hold, are equal.”3 As he spoke these words, the Holy Prophetsaw raised his hands, interlaced his fingers, and added: “Even as the fingers of the two hands are equal, so are human beings equal to one another. No one has any right, any superiority to claim over another. You are as brothers.”4
The Holy Prophetsaw calls for compassion and care. Compassion fosters a sense of belonging. Whether within families, communities, or across borders, caring for one another strengthens bonds and diffuses tensions before they escalate. The Holy Prophetsaw calls for strength in unity by declaring “All of you are equal… Even as the fingers of the two hands are equal…”5, the Holy Prophetsaw dismantled tribal, racial, and social hierarchies, forging a universal brotherhood and sisterhood. Through this, individuals are less likely to disagree, they have a sense of equal value resulting in togetherness rather than division. ALL
OF YOU ARE EQUAL… EVEN AS THE FINGERS OF THE TWO HANDS ARE EQUAL… “
A Message of Peace is the last written work of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas. His core message transcends borders—especially in today’s world, where religious diversity is at its peak and conflicts are erupting more than ever. This message speaks to every nation facing interfaith tension, offering timeless principles for harmony and understanding.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas explains how peace can be established in society. Like the Holy Prophet’ssaw call for respect and unity amongst nations, the Promised Messiahas also echoed this call. Heas states that “a country whose inhabitants are always after finding faults in the leaders of others, and constantly assassinate their characters, can never rest in peace themselves. Such people can never achieve true unity who, individually or mutually, refer to each other’s Prophets or saints or divines with malice or foul language.”6 By discouraging destructive behaviour and encouraging respectful dialogue and unity, it ensures peace and harmony.
Compassion and care lie at the heart of both messages, woven deeply into their words and urging everyone to love and support one another. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas states that we should “...become friends to each other, with purity of heart and sincerity of intentions. We should dispose kindly to each other and be mutually helpful.”7 The Promised Messiahas further states holding sympathy for one another “...as if we have become limbs of the same body.”8 Peace and harmony begin with compassion—it encourages us to truly understand, care for, and help one another.
The Holy Prophetsaw laid the foundation by emphasising equality, dignity, and kindness towards everyone—especially women, the poor, and prisoners of war. Over 1,000 years later, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas echoed that message in his final work, urging people to abandon hatred and speak respectfully about each other’s faiths. Together, their teachings offer a timeless instruction: peace begins when we honour one another, treat each other fairly, and show true compassion. In today’s turbulent world—marked by conflict, division, and distrust—these voices are not just echoes from the past but urgent reminders for now. Following their guidance is not a relic of history; it is a vital path to everlasting peace and harmony ensuring survival for all mankind.
