Friends, my last advice would be that all blessings are in Khilafat. Prophethood is a seed after which the Khilafat spreads its benevolence in the world around. Hold on firmly to true Khilafat and spread its blessings in the world. Allah would be merciful to you and would bless you in this world and in the hereafter.

During a virtual Mulaqat, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, was asked what the best way of expressing love for Khilafat is.
Beloved Hazooraba replied:
“You should pray that Allah the Almighty enables you to establish a true spiritual bond with Khilafat. Secondly, try to act upon the instructions of the Khalifa of the time; it should not be that you pick and choose instructions to follow that you prefer and reject those which are not to your liking. You should not make your own interpretations of what the Khalifa of the time says according to your own preference. Rather, you should try to act on the instruction to the letter. This will enable you to build a bond and love.”

As Ahmadi Muslims, having accepted Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Mahdias, we are recipients of the endless blessings of the Divine institution of Khilafat which followed him. We must therefore strive to forge a strong bond with Khilafat so that we may continue to beneft from its bountiful blessings. Khilafat is the guiding light which helps us to become closer to Allah the Almighty. As Waaqifaat-e-Nau we have an even greater responsibility to increase the love for Khilafat in our hearts and act upon every single instruction of our beloved Khalifa.
At the National Waqf-e-Nau Ijtema UK 30th April 2023, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba advised:
“It is also imperative that the Waqifeen-e-Nau strive to develop an unbreakable spiritual bond with the Khalifa of the time and display the highest standards of loyalty and obedience to the institution of Khilafat. If you are sincere with Khilafat, it will not only beneft you personally and be a means of gaining the rewards of Allah, it will ensure that the unity within our Jama’at will grow ever stronger.”
May Allah the Almighty enable us to embody the guidance of beloved Hazooraba and form an unbreakable bond with our Khalifa so that we can fulfl our responsibilities as Waaqifaat-e-Nau. Ameen.

Writings of the Promised Messiahas
Who is the one who attains salvation? Such a person is he who believes that God is true and that Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is the Intercessor between God and all His creation, and that under the heaven there is no Messenger equal in rank to him, nor is there any book equal in status to the Qur’an. God did not desire that anyone should remain alive eternally, but this Chosen Prophet lives forever. To keep him alive forever, God has ordained that his spiritual and lawgiving blessings would last until the day of resurrection. Finally, as a continuation of his spiritual blessings, God has sent unto the world the Promised Messiah—whose advent was essential for the completion of the edifce of Islam. It was necessary that the world should not come to an end until the dispensation of Muhammad had been
granted a spiritual Messiah, as had been endowed to the Mosaic dispensation. This is indicated in the verse:
Guide us on the right paththe path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings. (Surah Al-Faatihah, 1:6-7)
Moses was bestowed a treasure which earlier generations had lost, and Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was bestowed the riches, which the dispensation of Moses lost. Now the dispensation of Muhammad has replaced the Mosaic dispensation, but it is
thousands of times higher in status. The one sent in the likeness of Moses is greater than Moses and the one sent in the likeness of the Son of Mary is more exalted than the Son of Mary. Just as the Messiah son of Mary came in the fourteenth century after Moses, the Promised Messiah appeared in the fourteenth century after the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him1, and he appeared at a time when the condition of the Muslims was similar to that of the Jews at the time of the advent of the Messiah
son of Mary. I am that Messiah. God does what He wills. Foolish is the person who wars with Him and ignorant is the one who objects to his works and considers that they should have been otherwise. He has sent me with over ten thousand brilliant signs.

The Reality of Khilafah
English Translation of Sirrul-Khilafah by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, The Promised Messiah and Mahdias
Sirrul-Khilafah is an Arabic treatise by the Promised Messiahas, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian. It was published in July 1894.
The book unveils the mystery surrounding Khilafah as the means by which the hidden hand of God dispels the darkness of an era and replaces fear with security for the Ummah. In such trying times, Allah raises a Khalifah and breathes into him the spirit to revive a nation against the impending threat of spiritual death. The book illustrates this through the example of Hazrat Abu Bakrra, who the Promised Messiahas refers to as the second Adam of Islam.
When the darkness of dissension, hypocrisy and rebellion threatened the fedgling Muslim community, Hazrat Abu Bakrra rose to the occasion and reestablished Muslim unity. A parallel scenario would act out in the Latter Days when the Promised Messiahas would arise as the last Adam for the last age, and would fght the forces of dissension to reunite the Muslim Ummah under one banner.
The love of Hazrat Hakeem Maulvi
Noor-ud-Deen, Khalifatul Masih Ira for the Promised Messiahas
By Naila Naseer
“His name is Maulvi Noor-udDeen Bhervi. In sincerity, devotion, dedication, loyalty and love, he is foremost among my followers.” 1
We will take a brief glimpse into the profound and unwavering love the First Khalifa, Hazrat Hakeem Maulvi Noor-ud-Deenra held for the Promised Messiahas.
One might assume that this love grew over time; however, his deep love was evident from the very frst meeting with the Promised Messiahas. He was utterly captivated and entranced, so much so, that he experienced an irresistible impulse: “It is this man, it is this Mirza to whom I fnd myself completely surrendered ” 2 This urge did not fade; it persisted in his mind, repeating over and over again “How may I place my life, my wealth, my honour and all belongings at his disposal.” 3 Following this meeting, Hazrat Hakeem Maulvi Noor-ud-Deenra conveyed his deep respect and admiration for the Promised Messiahas in a letter:
My Master, my Murshad, my Imam: It is my intense prayer that I be ever present in your company. And secure learning and spiritual delights fom the Imam of the age. I seek your permission, let me resign the post (royal physician of the Rajah of Jammu) and spend my days and nights at your threshold. And, if you command me, I will leave this post and roam in the whole world issuing a call to everyone to come to the religion of Islam, and thereby give my life. I wish to give away myself and all that belong to me. All is yours. My Master and my Imam, I beg to state with all the sincerity and truth, if all my wealth and all that I possess in this world are spent in the way of Allah, I would be very lucky to have achieved that high mission I had set.4
Rarely does one encounter a man who sets out for a brief visit, only to become so deeply connected to a foreign land that he never looks back upon his home again. This highlights the profound devotion and love Hazrat Hakeem Maulvi Noor-ud-Deenra held for his master.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’sra love for the Promised Messiahas was nothing less than a shadow at dusk. It was a love that was never fading, never parting. Just as the shadow moves with its source, embracing every rise and fall, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Ira remained by his master’s side, bearing his joys and sorrows as if they were his own.
Once, the son of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, Mubarak Ahmad, fell ill. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas had a deep love and atachment to this son and he did everything to look afer him. A few moments before the death of this child, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Ira was also present and he was engaged in the treatment of the child, but as a Hakeem, he knew fully well that it was difcult for the child to survive. When this reality dawned upon him (especially when he knew how deeply it would hurt Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas , knowing his love for his son) the very idea of his death bewildered and staggered him so deeply that he dropped and fainted on the ground.5
During Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’sra daily routine with the Promised Messiahas, no matter how occupied he was, the instant he sensed the Promised Messiahas was available, he would halt mid-sentence, rise in devotion, and with hurried, almost unthinking steps—his shoes dragging and his turban loosely trailing as he wrapped it—he would rush forward, eager to be in his beloved master’s presence.6
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Ira expressing his love for the Promised Messiahas stated that:
“To me the company of my master and my chief was so dear and near that it was impossible to spend a minute without him, and if somebody gave me even one hundred thousand rupees and say spend a day elsewhere, I would prefer one minute of the company with Hazrat Sahib to that large amount,”7
How profound this love was! So deep that he cherished the presence of the Promised Messiahas above all worldly comforts and material pleasures. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Ira expressed in a speech that:
“People ofen wander about in search of goldmines. For me, Hazrat Sahib is gold, once I touched him, I became a king.”8
Such was Hazrat Hakeem Noor-ud-Deenra, which is why the Promised Messiahas honoured him as an example in his Persian verse:
“How excellent would it be if everyone of the community were a Noor-ud-Deen; So would it be if every heart were flled with the light of the certainty of faith.”9
May Allah enable us to cultivate a love as pure and deep as Hazrat Hakeem Noor-ud-Deenra, Khalifatiul Masih I, had for his master. May we grow ever closer to Khilafat. Ameen

The Solution to India’s Political Issues
by Hazrat Musleh Maudra
Shaista Giny
On February 20th 1886, the Promised Messiahas received a divine revelation foretelling the birth of a blessed son—one who “will be extremely intelligent and perceptive” and “will be filled with secular and spiritual knowledge” (Tadhkirah, 3rd edition, p.178). The prophecy of ‘Musleh Maud’ was fulfilled in the person of Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Deen Mahmood Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IIra.
In his recent Friday Sermon on February 21st 2025, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, highlighted how Hazrat Musleh Maud’sra achievements – notably his contributions to the Simon Commission and the Round Table Conference – embodied these divine qualities, and influenced reform at a time of political turmoil in pre-partition India.
What was the Simon Commission?
The Simon Commission, also known as the Indian Statutory Commission, was appointed by the British Government in 1927 on the back of the Government of India Act of 1919.
The commission was comprised of seven British Members of Parliament and led by a barrister, Sir John Simon. It was charged with reviewing India’s constitutional progress and determining the extent to which India’s people could be granted the authority to create a self-governing state.
However, the commission faced widespread opposition and protests in India due to the exclusion of Indian members on the commission. Major political parties, including the Indian National Congress, as well as the Muslim League, led by Mohammed Ali Jinnah (the founder of Pakistan), called for a boycott of the commission.

Guidance to Muslims
Hazrat Musleh Maudra was against the proposed boycott, advising Muslims in his booklet, “A Time of Trial for the Indian Muslims,” (Musalmanan-e-Hind Ke Imtehan Ka Waqt) that this would prove detrimental to Muslims, and lead to the commission’s report being biased towards Hindu interests. Thus, Muslim representation was essential. Hazoor’sra views were also published in The Sunrise and The Englishman (January 1928), and in March 1928, a Jama’at delegation met the with Simon Commission in Lahore, as reported by The Civil and Military Gazette.
A further article was published in the Manchester Guardian in February 1929:
“The Ahmadiyya community, which has its headquarters in Qadian, in the Punjab, is not usually regarded as concerning itself with political questions, but a memorandum has been presented to the Statutory Commission Reforms in India on behalf of the head of the Ahmadiyya community.
It has just been explained to me by the Imam of the London Mosque, Moulvi Farzand Ali, that this interest in political matters has been forced upon the Khalifatul Masih, as the head of the movement is called, for the desires and interests of the Mussulmans in India were, in the opinion of the Ahmadis, being misrepresented. […]
“Some of the points which the Ahmadi memorandum put before the Simon Commission were an extension of the franchise, provided that it was restricted to those who were a support to the Government, the retention of separate electorates, the establishment of a true form of dyarchy, and the proper safeguarding of the rights of minorities in India.”
Additionally, in August 1929, Hazrat Musleh Maudra published an article in Al Fazl with regards to misrepresentation of Muslims on the Punjab Council.

Outcome of the Commission and The Round Table Conference
The first Simon Commission report was published in May 1930 and suggested further constitutional reforms. The report did not meet the expectations of the people of India, and there was widespread rejection. As a result, the British government announced Round Table conferences, with the first to be held in November 1930. The purpose of this was for representatives of Britain and India to convene and deliberate on the issues that had arisen.
The night before the publication of the second volume of the report, Hazrat Musleh Maudra wrote an article for the Al Fazl – “Gol Maiz Conference Aur Musalmanon Ki Numaindgi,” (Al Fazl, 28 June 1930, p.3) Hazoorra emphasised the importance of Muslim representation so that their perspective was conveyed effectively and decisions were made fairly. Hazoorra urged the Muslims to set aside their differences and work together to ensure the rights of Muslims were not overlooked. He also advised the government to allow Indians to choose their own representatives for the conference, suggesting a formula to aid in this process. He called on the All-Muslim Parties Conference to take an active role in ensuring fair representation.

Hazrat Musleh Maud’sra Book: “The Solution to India’s Political Issues”
Hazoorra subsequently wrote a comprehensive analysis of the Commission’s report titled, The Solution to the Political Problems of India (Hindustan Ke Maujuda Siyasi Masla Ka Hal), in which he outlined the rights of the Muslims and their rationale and justification. In addition, he offered sound solutions to the political issues facing India, with the aim ensuring a peaceful future. This report was published in English and sent to be presented at the Round Table conference held in London from 12th November 1930 to 19th January 1931.
In the preface, Hazoorra noted the tense political atmosphere in the wake of the report and offered advice to the British and the Indians. He wrote: “Being a religious person I am not so much connected with politics as are those who may be called professional politicians but my religion makes it all the more obligatory on me to work for peace and goodwill.”
Addressing British officials, he reminded them of their moral duty toward India entrusted on them by God. He reminded them of their responsibility to “act justly and faithfully” and let go of self-interest. To Indians, he advised: “Purge your hearts of all prejudices and feelings of malice and ill-will,” and to acknowledge positive British contributions, writing “So let us not shut our eyes to their virtues in our dislike for their weaknesses.” He advised them to “exercise self-control and moderation” in the hope that this would “usher a new era of love, unity, and concord.”
Hazoorra acknowledged the strengths and weaknesses of the Commission’s report.
Hazoorra argued that whilst an English constitution may not be possible in India, the Indians could create a new system in light of that constitution, that would be suited to their needs. Hazoorra referenced Edwin Samuel Montagu’s, Secretary of State for India, speech delivered on 20th August 1917, in the House of Commons, commenting on the “progressive realisation of responsible government in India,” and the moral obligation to fulfil this.
Hazoorra provided two main justifications for India’s right to independence. These were based on its service to the British Empire during World War I, and secondly with regards to the Indian’s ability to govern their own country.
Hazoorra also condemned Hindu oppression, preventing the Muslim minority from seeking employment, property and in some regions, practising their religion.
Hazoorra defended the rights of the minorities in India and advised these to be kept at the forefront of any future constitution. He supported the idea of a federal system of government as suggested by the Simon Commission as being
the most appropriate for India, when taking in to account the vast diversity of the Subcontinent – linguistically and racially, as well as in terms of religious beliefs. He wrote: “In India, the differences are so great that what is needed for the local needs of one part of the country is quite unsuited to those of the other…No one set of laws will equally fit all provinces nor can it be a means of promoting peace and prosperity.” With regards to separate electorates, Hazoorra advised a temporary time period of 25 years.
Finally, Hazoorra contested the Commission’s suggestion that purdah was detrimental to women’s health and education, and was a reason for more males than females in the country; Hazoorra wrote:
“Firstly, the Commissioners attribute the excess of males over females in India to the observance of purdah, it is indeed a strange inference! Purdah, it is said, impairs the health of the females, and consequently, there is heavier mortality among the females than among the males. But how will they account for the disparity between the number of males and females in England which is much more marked than that in India, the only difference being that in England the females exceed the males while in India the males exceed the females.
“Can anyone hold with any show of reason that males in England are subjected to some tyrannical treatment which has resulted in shortening the lives of males more than the females? If the Simon Commission had taken the trouble to compare the population statistics of different countries, they would have discovered that the disparity in the numbers of males and females is governed by certain laws of nature, which are so subtle that the Simon Commission could not know much about them. […]
“Now I turn to the effect of purdah on health and education. It must be remembered that purdah has been practised among the Muslims from the earliest times, but in spite of this, Muslim women have been taking part in all the spheres of administration. Muslim women have ruled over countries; they have served in armies; they have held the offices of judges and they have worked as professors. It should also be remembered that purdah observing Muslim ladies have acted in all these capacities which require the exercise of both strength and knowledge, at a time when all the other women who knew no purdah were more non-entities in both these respects. This shows that it is not purdah but other causes which are responsible for the present backwardness and ignorance of the Muslim women.
“I am at a loss to understand why purdah is looked upon as a hindrance to education. The Ahmadiyya Community, by the grace of God, believes in the Islamic purdah, yet female education is more advanced in the Ahmadiyya Community than in any other community in India. […]
In the end, Hazoorra emphasised the huge responsibility placed on all members of the Commission and advised them to remain impartial and unselfish. He stated that this would be a means of attaining the grace of God and honour for generations to come. He ended his book as follows:
“May God through His great mercy, grant you sincerity of purpose, ennoble your intentions and clarify your perception! May this gathering and the momentous decisions which are to come out of it establish real unity and concord between India and England and between Hindus and Muslims, so that we may discharge worthily our responsibilities both to our contemporaries and to our posterity, and by the time we depart from this world we may have the satisfaction of seeing that since the day that we came into it, the world has traversed a long distance in the path of peace and love! Impact of Hazrat Musleh Maud’sra Book and Testimonials
As mentioned by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba in his Friday Sermon of 21st February, 2025, as a result of Hazrat Musleh Maud’sra work, and to the benefit of the Muslims, they were able to successfully present a united f ront, which had a positive influence on the British. The Solution to India’s Political Issues was very positively received by both the British and the Indians. Hazooraba stated that, “consequently the British were compelled to acknowledge the status of Muslims in India, and recognise the rationale and reasoning behind their demands”.
Hazooraba then presented the testimonials of politicians and journalists of the time, with the incidents recorded in Tariq-e-Ahmadiyyat.
Sir Hon Miller said, “I sincerely thank you for sending this small book containing the proposals of the Imam of the Ahmadiyya Community for solving India’s problems. This is the only detailed critique of the Simon Commission’s proposals that has come to my attention. I will not comment on those details where differences of opinion are inevitable, but I commend the sincerity, rationality and clarity with which His Holiness the Imam of the Ahmadiyya Community has expressed his community’s views. And I am very impressed by His Holiness, lofty thinking.”
Lieutenant Commander Ken Worthy, member of parliament said. “I am very grateful that you sent me the book Solution to India’s Political Problems. I have read it with great interest.”
Sir Malcolm Haley, Governor of UP Province and former Governor of Punjab, wrote to the Imam of the London Mosque, “I am well acquainted with the conditions of the Ahmadi community and fully understand and appreciate the role they are playing in solving India’s important issues. I am confident this book will be useful for me and I will read it with great interest.”
Lord Meston, former Governor of UP said, “I am grateful to you for sending me the most interesting work by the Imam of the Ahmadiyya Community. I have previously read several of his works with interest. I am hopeful that reading this book will be a source of pleasure and benefit for me.”
Then the Honourable Peterson said, “From what I have read thus far, it certainly appears to be an interesting and valuable effort to explain the current situation. The Muslim perspective has been presented very clearly. I hope to meet soon.”
Hazooraba then presented the views of renowned Muslim personalities in India:
Dr Ziauddin Sahib of Aligarh says, “I read the book by His Holiness with great interest. I request you to ensure its wide circulation in Europe. Every Member of Parliament should certainly receive a copy and one copy should be sent to every newspaper editor in England. This book needs more circulation in England than in India. His Holiness has rendered an important service to Islam.”
Seth Haji Abdullah Haroon Sahib, MLA, Karachi said, “In my opinion, among all the books written on politics in India, Solution to India’s Political Problems is among the best works.”
Allama Dr Sir Muhammad Iqbal (the National poet of Pakistan, who is credited with giving the idea of “Pakistan”) writes, “I have read some of the thoughtful analysis. It is excellent and comprehensive.”
Finally, Hazooraba presented excerpts from the following newspapers in Lahore:
The Inqilab newspaper: “With this thoughtful analysis, Mirza Sahib has rendered a great service to Muslims. Mirza Sahib has done the work which should have been done by large Islamic organisations.”
The Siasat newspaper: “If we put religious differences aside and look at the work which Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Sahib has done in the field of writing and publication in terms of volume and benefit, it is worthy of every praise. The political principles which he established in having his community walk side by side with the general Muslim population and finding success in this endeavour under his leadership cannot go without being lauded by every fair-minded Muslim and pious individual. An entire generation can testify to his political insight. He has done commendable work in assembling Muslims to respond to the Nehru Report, presenting the Islamic perspective before the Simon Commission, having fact-based discourse from an Islamic perspective on contemporary issues and publishing books replete with arguments in favour of the rights of Muslims.”

“
Rabia Rana - Alhamdolillah, I have experienced many times where prayers have been accepted after writing to our beloved Hazooraba. In one instance, I wrote a letter to Hazooraba requesting prayers for my daughter’s health condition, which was worrisome. Alhamdolillah, we received a response from Hazooraba with prayers for my daughter. After this, different tests were done on my daughter and Alhamdolillah, all the results came back fine, and she is a healthy and thriving little girl. May Allah grant our beloved Hazooraba a long, healthy life and enable us to follow his guidelines to the best of our abilities. Ameen
“
Tawakultu Idrees - Alhamdolillah Rabbil al Ameen. Allah has been faithful to me and my family, our last visit to our beloved Hazooraba, we told him about our problems. He told us to pray our five daily prayers and do Istighfar. By the grace of Allah, our prayers were answered. Alhamdolillah.
“
Warda Waseem - One example of the acceptance of the blessed prayers of Hazoor-e-Aqdasaba that I have personally experienced is when I wrote to him requesting prayers regarding my upcoming exams. Not only did I receive a letter back full of guidance and reassurance of his blessed prayers, Hazooraba graciously advised that the key to success is through being punctual and sincere in your Salat, which is a constant solution for all problems we may face in our lives. By the grace of Allah and Beloved Hazoor’saba prayers, I achieved really high grades, showing me first-hand the blessings of Hazoor’saba prayers.
“
Sadia Kashif - My experience of when my prayers are answered just has a different feeling. I feel so happy and thankful to Allah that He accepts them and blesses me with what I need or want.
“Samra Waseem Ahmad - In 2022, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, a time of immense uncertainty and difficulty for our family. During this challenging period, I wrote to Hazoor-e-Aqdasaba for prayers and had the blessing of Mulaqaats with him, seeking his guidance and prayers. Alhamdolillah, through Allah’s mercy and the blessed prayers of Hazooraba, my mother has now completed her treatment and is recovering well, gradually returning to her old self. This experience has strengthened my faith in the power of prayer of beloved Hazooraba and reaffirmed that Allah’s help arrives in the most testing times.
““Samreen Baba - My GCSEs were coming up and I was getting increasingly worried whether I was going to pass or not. So, I sent a letter to Hazoor-e-Aqdasaba, requesting for prayers. That very week, I got a reply saying that Insha’Allah I will do well. On my results day, I found out that by the Grace of Allah, I passed all of the necessary subjects that I needed to get into college.
Alhamdolillah.
Iman Mahnoor Loun - Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to have had the privilege of writing letters to Hazoor-e-Aqdasaba, seeking his prayers in times of need. A particular experience that is quite recent, has been this summer when my sister faced great difficulty securing a place at a secondary school that my parents really wanted her to attend. Although the school was further away, my parents felt it would be the best option for her, especially as the schools close to us aren’t as good. I also wanted to go to that same school, as I heard about the sixth form from my friend, and it was known for its excellent results. Unfortunately, my sister was initially rejected due to the school’s distance priority policy.
I wrote to Hazooraba, humbly asking for his prayers for myself but mainly for my sister to get accepted. To my amazement, not only was I accepted into the school I had hoped for, but my sister, who had initially been denied, was miraculously given a place a few weeks later, thanks to the sibling priority policy. This was a clear and extraordinary answer to our prayers - I did not expect this to happen at all. It felt as though Allah, through Hazoor’saba intercession, had made a seemingly impossible situation possible. This experience reaffirmed my deep belief in the power of prayer and the grace of Allah, and I am always grateful for the countless blessings that have come through Hazoor’saba prayers. I also write letters to Hazooraba monthly, because I remember hearing on MTA about a man who wrote a letter to Hazooraba, and how his prayers were answered even before the letter reached Hazooraba. This anecdote has stuck with me and I always think of it when I write Hazooraba a letter.
“Nida Ashraf - During my undergraduate studies, I was extremely stressed about my results, constantly worrying about the outcome. In my anxiety, I decided to write a letter to beloved Hazooraba, pouring out all my concerns. Amazingly, even before sending it, I felt a deep sense of relief, as if my worries had vanished. I knew that the prayers had already begun. By the grace of Allah and the prayers of Hazooraba, I can now say that last summer, I graduated with a First Class Honours - something I could not have achieved without his blessed prayers.
THE REVIVAL OF ISLAM IN
Spåïñ
Dr Aisha Shah
Much has been written about the greatness and glory of the original Muslims of Spain and the impact that they had on Europe in the culture, knowledge and expertise that they brought during their hundreds of years. For more than seven centuries Europe benefted from the universities and libraries of Qur’anic philosophy and teachings, as well as science, Islamic culture and literature. However, this was not meant to last and with the last of the Muslims leaving Spain or being forced to convert in the 1500s1 this was the last of the Muslim presence in any meaningful way for hundreds of years.
In 1936 the decision was made to support a missionary, Mohammed Sharid Gujrati2, to travel to Spain in order to reintroduce the ideas of Islam and especially Ahmadiyyat to the country that had once been the recognisable Muslim hub of Europe. Due to the Spanish Civil War, Mohammed Sharid Gujrati (missionary in-charge based in Madrid) ended up leaving his post and returning to Pakistan despite converting Count Antonio Logothete and his wife, who took the names of Ghulam Ahmad and Amina respectively. There was a small group of fve Ahmadis in Spain at the time of his departure from the country. Following World War II, the mission was resumed with the introduction
of two missionaries under the guidance of Hazrat Mirza Bashir-udDeen Mahmood Ahmadra. The two missionaries were Maulawi Karam Illahi Zafar and Maulawi Ishaq Saqi, and they arrived in Madrid on 10th June 19462 They were instrumental in converting Enrique Ku Zhin, a Russian translator who went on to adopt the name Mohammed Ahmad. In 1947, due to the Partition of India and Pakistan and the subsequent fnancial hardship, the funding available to these missionaries was withdrawn. Maulawi Karam Illahi Zafar made the decision to continue with his mission and wrote expressly to Hazrat Musleh Maudra in order to gain permission to stay on as a self-fnanced missionary.
He worked with resilience and determination during a repressive time in Spain, that saw that proselytising non-Catholic faiths was against the law. He persisted by supporting himself by selling homemade perfumes in open-air markets in Madrid. He faced arrests and imprisonment for his dedication towards sharing the message of Islam. Opponents vandalised his stall, he was regularly threatened by the Secret State Police and faced discrimination during these challenging decades. Despite these challenges, he was able to translate and publish several important Islamic and Ahmadi texts into Spanish, such as The Philosophy
and Teachings of Islam, by the Promised Messiahas Indeed, his sacrifces were recognised by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba who highlighted that he was a martyr who passed away in 1996 in Grenada3. His commitment to Islam Ahmadiyyat and spreading the true message of Islam, as well as his character and steadfastness in the face of adversity, was one that every Ahmadi and especially Waaqifaate-Nau should try to emulate in their lives.
In 1969 Maulawi Karam Illahi Zafar continued his efforts to spread the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat in a peaceful and constructive manner by attempting to publish another book in Spain that ended up being sent to General Francisco Franco, discussing Islamic Teachings as well as the message of Ahmadiyyat given by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas. It was reported that General Franco even sent a letter back to Maulawi Karam Illahi Zafar to give thanks. This was followed up with some loosening of the restrictions placed on Ahmadi Muslims4. This discourse directly refected the message of peace and discourse that Ahmadiyyat brought to Spain in an attempt to spread the true message of Islam. By 1971, the political climate of Spain had changed considerably from the 1940s, and diversity was being increasingly
accepted, it was possible to register the community offcially as ‘La Mision Ahmadia del Islam’. This marked a signifcant milestone in establishing Islam within Spain once again and trying to revive its true spirit. The Jama’at was recognised and respected for what it wished to achieve within Spain due to the diligent efforts of individuals such as Maulawi Karam Illahi Zafar.
Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IIIrh was pivotal in bringing about another landmark
The foundation stone of Basharat Mosque in Pedro Abad, Cordoba, was placed by Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IIIrh During this pivotal moment, when addressing the congregation, the slogan that has become our Jama’ats message to the world was shared. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh spoke clearly and with passion,
“Islam teaches us to live with mutual love and affection and with humility. It teaches us no distinction between a
Muslim or a non-Muslim. My message to everyone is that you must have ‘Love for All, Hatred for None!’5
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba explains:
e also use this slo an i e , o e for All, Hatred for None] to make it clear to the world that Islam teaches love, peace, and kindness, and it is not correct to associate cruelty and viciousness with the faith of Islam. We employ this slogan to signify that we wish to live together by breaking down walls of hatred.
“When we serve humanity in any way at all or when we disseminate the message of Islam, we do so because we have love for every person in the world, and we wish to remove hatred from each heart and instead sow the seeds of love. We do so because this is what our master, the Holy Prophetsaw taught us.”6
continues to be spread and deepens within Spain.
There have been pivotal moments within Spain that have defned both the Jama’at and its loyal servants of faith. From mottos to the history-making resurgence of faith, the last 90 years have seen multiple people who have shown their diligence and belief in Allah in executing a resurgence of Islam within Spain and Europe. There are still many people who are following the guidance of Khilafat and working within Spain to continue this legacy May Allah the Almighty enable us to be the best servants of faith possible and to be able to live up to the forefathers of Islam Ahmadiyyat in the examples that they have given to us with regards to relationship to Khilafat, preaching, Tabligh and Tawakkul. Ameen.

HAZRAT MIRZA NASIR AHMAD
Khalifatul Masih IIIrh
A LOVER OF
Ñåtürë
Below are some precious memories written by respected Bashir Rafq Sahib who served as a Private Secretary for Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IIIrh.
“Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh has always been impressed by the wonders of nature and studies nature with earnest devotion. He says that he studies nature because its study is evidence of the truth contained in the Holy Qur’an.”
“He once said that when he read in the Holy Qur’an: ‘He knows whatsoever is in the land and in the sea; not a leaf falls but He knows it’. (6:60)
Hazoorrh decided to be a witness to this act of God. He adds: ‘I
went to the garden and selected certain leaves on a tree. Some were very green while others had turned ochre red and were about to fall. I observed these leaves daily but I was very surprised to note that during the night some green leaves had fallen while the withered leaves still remained affixed to the tree. This observation created a firm belief in my heart of the truth of the Holy Qur’an because it would have been logical if the withered leaf were to fall but the contrary took place. This fact upheld the claim that whatever takes place on this earth, does so according to a divine decree!’
Another example quoted by Hazoorrh is that when it rains on farms, certain crops may be destroyed whilst others remain unaffected. Now according to the common concept of nature, the farms had the same downpour of rain but for certain crops, God Almighty created a shield and protected them from destruction. As such, the laws of nature were subjected to Divine decree.
Hazoorrh takes a walk in his garden every day. I have been a witness to Hazoor’srh close scrutiny of some rose bushes, as if, for a long time, Hazoorrh was marvelling at its extreme beauty in its apparent weakness.
He is such an avid enthusiast of nature that once he came to learn that a tenant had cut all trees at the house. Hazoorrh was deeply
aggrieved to learn about this. Hazoorrh said that quite apart from their national and scenic values, Islam had forbidden the chopping down of trees. When the Holy Prophetsaw was about to enter a battle one of his instructions were that trees should not be molested and that whichever territory is won, the responsibility for safeguarding the trees shall be on the victors.
Hazoorrh loves flowers and in particular the rose. He is a keen gardener and engages in this pastime every day. In his house there are numerous varieties of roses and he closely supervises these plants.”

KHILAFAT
The Arabic word ‘Khalifa’ means “successor/deputy/vicegerent”.
Khilafat is the institution that runs under the leadership of a khalifa.
Khulafa is the plural form of the word ‘khalifa’.
KHILAFAT IN THE HOLY QUR’AN
Allah says in Chapter 24, verse 56 of the Holy Qur’an:
“Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will surely make them Successors in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will surely establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them; and that He will surely give them in exchange security and peace after their fear: They will worship Me, and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso is ungrateful after that, they will be the rebellious.”
This verse is known as ‘Ayat-ul-Istikhlaf’, and it is in this verse that Allah has promised Khilafat.
The Holy Qur’an has mentioned 3 different types of Khulafa:
1
2
3
Khalifas who are prophets, such as Hazrat Adamas or Hazrat Davidas.
Khalifas who are prophets but of another, greater prophet. There were many Israelite prophets after Mosesas who were all khulafa of Mosesas
Khalifas who are not prophets themselves, but who protect and preserve the law of a previous Prophet.
Task: How well have you understood the verse above? Read it again and use it to fill in the blanks of the paragraph below. Some words have been started off for you…
Allah the Exalted has made a definite ________ for the establishment of ________ for the community of believers and has made it conditional on b________ and g________ w________. Two grand blessings of Khilafat are cited: the firm establishment of ________ and the transformation of a state of ________ into a state of . It is also mentioned that the lofty objectives and the sweet fruits of Khilafat are also two-fold: true establishment of w________ of God and the u________ of God.
Word bank: Worship; belief; religion; fear; peace; unity; promise; Khilafat; good works
Hazrat Huzaifara narrates that the Holy Prophetsaw said:
“Prophethood shall remain among you as long as Allah shall will. He will bring about its end and follow it with Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood for as long as He shall will and then bring about its end. A tyrannical monarchy will then follow and will remain as long as Allah shall will and then come to an end. There will follow thereafter monarchical despotism to last as long as Allah shall will and come to an end upon His decree. There will then emerge Khilafat on precept of Prophethood.” Thereafter, the Holy Prophetsaw became silent [and added no more comments].
• This hadith tells us of the link between Prophethood and Khilafat. Twice, the Holy Prophetsaw mentions that Khilafat will come after Prophethood.
• Allah’s first blessing to us is sending a prophet to guide us. However, a prophet cannot live forever, yet his teachings must not stop and must continue.
• So, Allah’s second blessing to us is appointing for us a Khalifa.
• The prophet sows the seeds of Allah’s message, and the Khalifa continues the prophet’s work beyond his lifetime until those seeds become a strong and sturdy tree!
THE GUIDED KHILAFAT
The four successors after the demise of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw, are known as the ‘Guided Khilafat’ or ‘Khulafa-e-Rashideen’.
Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiqra - Lasting a little over two years, Hazrat Abu Bakr’sra Khilafat successfully maintained the Muslim unity after the death of the Holy Prophetsaw.
Hazrat Umar Farooqra - By forming a consultative body of advisors to the Khalifa and dividing the Islamic state into provinces, Hazrat Umar bin Khattabra established an effective system of Islamic administration and governance.
Hazrat Uthman Ghanira - As Khalifa, Hazrat Uthman bin Affanra, oversaw the reproduction and propagation of the Holy Qur’an throughout the Muslim state. He also spent much of his personal wealth on the poor and needy, earning the title ‘Ghani’ (generous).
Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talibra - Cousin and son-in-law of the Holy Prophetsaw, Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talibra sought to establish peace after Hazrat Uthman’sra assassination.
After ‘the Guided Khalifas’, a monarchy began instead, consisting of people who were not true pious Khulafas appointed by God, but simply political leaders and ‘kings’. This remained for around 1250 years.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas was born in 1835 – he was the awaited Messiah. He was a prophet, but he brought no new teachings; rather, he was a subordinate prophet to the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw. When the Promised Messiahas passed away, Khilafat was established again because, as the Hadith states, Khilafat always comes after Prophethood.
The successors after the Promised Messiahas are known as the “Khulafa-eAhmadiyyat”.
Hazrat Hakeem Noor-ud-Deenra - Period of Khilafat: May 27th 1908 to March 13th 1914 - Like Hazrat Abu Bakrra, Hazrat Hakeem Noor-ud-Deenra established the unity of the Community after the death of the Promised Messiahas

Did you know the difference between ‘ra’ and ‘rh’?
You may have noticed that after the names of the Khulafa, we write the salutations ‘ra’ and ‘rh’.
ra – is an abbreviation for ‘Radiallahu anhu’, meaning ‘May Allah be pleased with him’. This is written after the names of Companions of the Holy Prophetsaw and Companions of the Promised Messiahas
rh – is an abbreviation for ‘Rahimahullah’, meaning, ‘May Allah have mercy upon him’. This is written after the names of deceased pious Muslims who are not Companions. ? ?
Fulflling the Pledge of Waqf
…Always remember that it is the duty of a Waqf e Nau to propagate the mission and objectives of the Khaifa e Waqt and to be his constant helper. You can only do this if you are completely obedient to Khilafat. Only if you are following the guidance and instructions of Khaifa e Waqt can you urge others to do the same.

THE VISION OF HAZRAT
KHALIFATUL MASIH IV RH FOR
WAQFE NAU
Touba Khurshid
“WHEN THE HELP OF ALLAH COMES, AND THE VICTORY, AND THOU SEEST MEN ENTERING THE RELIGION OF ALLAH IN TROOPS, GLORIFY THY LORD, WITH HIS PRAISE, AND SEEK FORGIVENESS OF HIM. SURELY HE IS OFT RETURNING WITH COMPASSION.”
(Holy Qur’an, 110:2-4)
During his Friday Sermon on 3rd April 1987, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IVrh, explained that love and obedience to Allah can be achieved by following our role model: the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw.
Hazoorrh, in his extraordinary wisdom and foresight, launched the Waqfe Nau scheme during this very Friday Sermon. Hazoorrh said that ‘As we are trying to increase our spiritual progeny before the next century through propagation, we should also offer our yet to be born children as Waqifeen in the cause of Allah’. (Friday Sermon, April 3rd,1987)
Hazoorrh requested parents to follow the traditions of the prophets and offer their most prized possession - their yet-to-beborn children - in the way of Allah.
For example, the mother of Hazrat Maryamas supplicated to Allah: ‘My Lord, I have vowed to Thee what is in my womb to be dedicated to Thy service ... ‘. (Holy Qu’an, 3:36). Hazrat Ibrahimas prayed: ‘Our Lord, make us submissive to Thee and make of our offspring a people submissive to Thee’. (Holy Qur’an 2:129)
Adhering to beloved Hazoor’srh vision for this new scheme, devoted parents all over the world said ‘Labbaik’ (yes) to the voice of their Imam and offered their children to join this blessed scheme, ‘So that a magnifcent army of Wa ifeen children, who are willing to relinquish this world, should enter the next century (in which Islam will spread rapidly) as the slaves of the God of Hazrat Muhammadsaw. We should be offering young children as gifts to Allah. It is the people of the next century who will beneft from our gift, so we are, in fact, offering this gift to them. So, whoever can offer this gift should get prepared to do so’. (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, April 3rd,1987)
Hazoorrh explained that both parents should vow to present this gift to Allah, because it will be a combined effort from both in terms of the moral training and upbringing of these children. Parents should raise these children in the best manner right from childhood. Parents should raise them in such a way that they should grow up with the belief that they were born for a great purpose at a great time, born at the uncture when the frst century of
the victory of Islam is merging with the second century of the victory of Islam. Children should know that their parents asked Allah to give them a child with the intention and prayer that the child would become a great mujahid (striver) for training the future generations. (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, April 3rd,1987).
In addition to possessing all the qualities that every Ahmadi should possess, Waqifeen should excel in those qualities as well. Every member of the Waqfe Nau scheme should love truthfulness and hate lying. Right from infancy, Waqifeen should be taught to hate falsehood. This requires parents to be more truthful and, if they are not at this high level of exercising truthfulness that is required of believers, then they must attend to their own moral training before training their children. They will have to be more cautious and careful during conversations in their homes and avoid lying even in gossip or jest. They have a sacred amanat (Waqf child) of Allah in their homes.
Furthermore, Hazoorrh said contentment has a profound relationship with the Waqifeen. They should be taught contentment and aversion to avarice right from their childhood. This is achievable if the parents exercise wisdom and sensibility in training their children from the very beginning and teaching them to be jovial and pleasant.
Waqifeen-e-Zindagi, who are illtempered, always create problems in the Jama’at and sometimes even cause harm. Therefore, good humour, which is pious in nature, and forbearance are the two qualities that are very essential for Waqifeen children. Hazoorrh further explained that we need such Waqifeen who will be cognizant of the suffering of the poor but would be indifferent to the riches of the wealthy; to whom
(witnessing the) prosperity of someone would not cause pain, but suffering of anyone certainly would. (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, February 10th, 1989).
Hazoorrh highlighted the importance of being taught the Holy Qur’an from a young age. Children need to be taught excellent recitation and the meaning of the Holy Qur’an. Even if you teach less, do so with translation and explain the meaning. Parents should supervise their children while they are learning all of this at home. Parents should ensure that their children have broad religious knowledge as well as general knowledge (knowledge outside the sphere or religion). Hazoorrh explained the importance of encouraging and popularising religious learning founded on broad-based knowledge. This means that the foundation should be a broad knowledge of secular subjects to which religious knowledge should then be grafted so that it grows into a very beautiful, blessed, and holy tree. (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, February 10th, 1989). So, the parents should pay attention to this and subscribe to magazines and newspapers for their children. They should instil in them the habit of reading books that will increase their knowledge and develop the habit of reading more than just their assigned syllabi. However, they should abstain from absurd literature such as absurd novels, absurd detective stories, and mythological stories, as these can have a profound evil infuence on human nature and leave a fear-causing effect on one’s mind, which may carry into adulthood. Hazoorrh elaborated, ‘It is important to encourage children to read such stories that will create greatness of character, realism and courage in them’.
Hazoorrh stated that parents of Waqifeen should lay the most emphasis on
teaching the Arabic language out of all the different languages. Learning the Urdu language bears great signifcance as most books of the Promised Messiahas are in Urdu. Hazoorrh instructed that ‘The future generation of Waqifeen needs to be an expert in three languages at least: Arabic, Urdu and the local language of the country.’ (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, February 17th, 1989).
Hazoorrh explained that Waqifeen should develop the habit of suppressing their anger and showing patience. They should not be disrespectful to those who possess less knowledge than they do, and have the patience to listen to a different opinion from theirs. They should be taught amiable manners and be able to practice friendliness, which is the ability by which one makes more friends and few enemies. This requires one to talk sweetly, and their love can conquer the hearts of people and even enemies. (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, September 8th, 1989).
Waqifeen should speak and report matters truthfully and clearly without any room for assumptions and lies. Hazoorrh stated, ‘Therefore, this habit of stating what is known to be a fact as a fact and what is a surmise as a surmise should be formed in childhood. Otherwise, it would be very diffcult to develop this habit as an adult’. Waqifeen should be particularly good in their fnancial dealings so they do not end up making errors in fnancial matters, which could possibly lead to dishonesty and carelessness. Therefore, all the Waqifeen children should know accounting from the very beginning and should
learn how to put it into practice while doing simple chores such as grocery shopping. Waqifeen children should be taught the subtleties of Taqwa in fnancial matters. The Waqifeen children should be taught the most refned forms of Taqwa in the minutest details in all matters. (Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, February 10th, 1989).
Furthermore, Waqifeen should also be made obedient to the Nizame-Jama’at (administrative set up of Jama’at and affliated with their respective auxiliary. Hazoorrh highlighted the importance of training the Waqifeen to be worthy of great leadership in the next century. This requires the children to adopt qualities such as love, respect, and loyalty to the Nizam-eJama’at. This means being careful and abstaining from creating suspicion or ill feelings in the hearts of other Ahmadis regarding an administrative matter in the Jama’at. Waqifeen should show utmost forbearance in matters of Jama’at, which will become a proof of their faithfulness. Hazoorrh stated ‘One of the important things that I want to say in the end is teach loyalty to your Waqifeen children. There is a very deep relationship between Waqf-e-Zindagi and loyalty’.
Hazoorrh stated that ‘Character is built in childhood, if done later it needs extra effort’. Hazoorrh explained that good character is essential in winning the hearts of people and to attract them to Islam. If good character is accompanied with patience and steadfastness in matters of Tabligh (propagation of Islam), the efforts will inevitably be fruitful.
(Hazrat Khalifatul Masih
IVrh, Friday Sermon, September 8th, 1989).
Hazoorrh explained the importance of paying special attention to the physical health of Waqifeen. Waqifeen who are suffering from different health problems may not serve as well as healthy Waqifeen. They should also be encouraged to participate in sports.
Hazoorrh mentioned the importance of living according to one’s means. He said, ‘Waqifeen girls should learn not to expect or demand of their husbands what is beyond their means and to be content with less’.
Waqifeen girls should be taught education, medicine, computers, typing and languages.
Hazoorrh laid great emphasis on prayers and highlighted the fact that children should pray for themselves from a young age and develop a strong connection with Allah in early age. Hazoorrh explained that ‘A child who starts experiencing Allah’s gracious favours through praying becomes a spiritual person in childhood’.
(Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh, Friday Sermon, February 17th, 1989).

HAZRAT KHALIFATUL
MASIH IV RH HAD FOR THE WAQFE NAU SCHEME
Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge & Truth
BY HAZRAT MIRZA TAHIR AHMAD RH
Have you ever wondered how faith and reason go hand in hand? Or how we can reconcile religious beliefs with science and philosophy? Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge and Truth by Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IV rh , is a fascinating book that tackles these very questions in a way that’s both deep and enlightening.
BACKGROUND
Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge & Truth is a book written by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh. Originally written in English and published in 1998, it has since been translated into Urdu and Arabic. The book examines religious thought and the signifcance of revelation throughout different eras of human civilization. It presents a comprehensive study of revelation across various faiths and uses rational analysis to prove the existence of God.
The book expands on a lecture Hazoorrh delivered in Switzerland. In 1987, Professor Karl Henking, a Professor of Ethnology at the University of Zurich, invited him to speak on Ahmadiyya Islam. On June 14, 1987, at 8:15 p.m., he delivered the lecture titled “Rationality, Revelation, Knowledge, Eternal Truth.” The event drew signifcant interest, flling the university’s main auditorium to capacity. Additional arrangements had to be made in another hall, where the lecture was relayed via television screens and loudspeakers to accommodate the audience.
OVERVIEW
Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge & Truth explores the relationship between divine revelation and human reasoning, showing that they are not opposites but actually complement each other. In a world where religion is sometimes dismissed as irrational, Hazoorrh presents a compelling argument that faith, when properly understood, is based on reason, knowledge, and truth. His writing is both thoughtful and clear, making
complex topics easy to grasp, even for readers who may not be familiar with theology or philosophy.
One of the standout aspects of this book is how it walks the reader through different ways of thinking - whether scientifc, philosophical, or spiritual. It covers a range of topics, from the purpose of life and the nature of prophethood to modern-day debates about science and religion. The book doesn’t just present Islamic teachings but also engages with other worldviews, showing respect for different perspectives while making a strong case for the truth of Islam.
What makes Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge and Truth so special is its ability to make us refect deeply on our own faith. Instead of blind belief, Hazoorrh encourages a faith that is thoughtful, informed, and deeply rooted in knowledge. He shows that Islam is not just a set of rituals but a living, breathing way of life that embraces logic and intellectual exploration.
This book is particularly relevant for young Ahmadi Muslim women navigating today’s world. We often encounter challenging questions about our faith from friends, school, or social media. This book helps us see that Islam has answers to even the toughest questions and that we don’t have to choose between faith and reason; rather, the two go together beautifully.
EXTERNAL REVIEWS
In addition to the perspective shared by many Ahmadi Muslims, the book has garnered praise from readers outside the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Several reviewers on platforms like Amazon and Goodreads have highlighted how Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge & Truth succeeds in breaking down barriers between faith and reason A reviewer, who identifed as a Christian, noted that “The author’s arguments for the compatibility of science and faith are nothing short of enlightening,” while another reader remarked, “Even as someone outside the Muslim faith, I found the book’s insights on rationality and logic in religion extremely thought-provoking and engaging.”
Another reviewer shared, “This book has encouraged me to think deeply about the relationship between religion and logic in my own faith ourney I i n t e ect to fn such well-reasoned arguments in a religious book. Truly impressive!” Even sceptics have admitted that the book challenges their preconceived notions about Islam and religion in general, giving them a fresh perspective.
In addition to these reviews, Honourable Tom Cox, the Labour Member of Parliament for Tooting, expressed a profound
appreciation for the book at the Jalsa Salana 1998, saying, “This book has profoundly changed the way I view the intersection of faith and reason. Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad’s approach to combining logical reasoning with spiritual beliefs is an eye-opener. The discussions on cosmology, evolution, an the scientifc etho hel e e see how Islamic teachings are not in con ict with o ern science, but rather complement it.” This review highlighted how the book provided a sense of intellectual harmony between belief and reason, something that resonates with a diverse audience.
Another key comment was, “as someone who has always been fascinated by philosophy and science, I found this book not only a spiritual guide but also an intellectual challen e It s rare to fn a boo that handles complex theological issues with both intellectual rigour and spiritual depth.”
Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone who wants to strengthen their understanding of Islam in a thoughtful way. It reassures us that seeking knowledge is an essential part of our faith and that Islam is a religion that not only welcomes but encourages intellectual growth. Whether you are someone who loves deep discussions or just wants to understand your faith better, this book will leave you feeling more confdent in the beauty and wisdom of Islam.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba: ADVOCATING FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS
By Arooba Zaffar
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, the spiritual leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, is a steadfast advocate for women’s rights and dignity. He consistently highlights the empowerment of women through Islamic teachings, emphasising their right to education, societal participation, and equal treatment.
Islam introduced a transformative shift in societal norms, particularly regarding women’s status. Prior to Islam, women in many parts of the world were denied basic rights like inheritance, autonomy, and education. Islam, however, granted women revolutionary protections and rights for its time.
Hazooraba explained how Islam initiated a revolution that not only abolished such misconceptions but also elevated women to a position of honour and dignity:
“At a time when some tribes mourned the birth of a daughter, and some others buried their daughters alive, the Holy Prophetsaw established the honour of women and elevated them to a status of pride. He did so by saying that while you mourn the birth of daughters and bury them alive, Islam gives you the glad tidings of paradise for raising them and educating them in the best possible manner. This is because they will soon become mothers who will lead their future progeny into paradise. Thus, if you have faith in God, rejoice at the birth of daughters and fulfil their rights. Worldly people may speak of the rewards of this world and that they will give such and such rewards in this world. However, they cannot speak about the rewards of the hereafter. It is only Islam which gives glad tidings of rewards in the hereafter for fulfilling the rights of one’s wife and daughter.”1
Through his global addresses, Hazooraba eloquently emphasises Islam’s authentic stance on women’s rights, inspiring Ahmadi women and educating those with misconceptions. In an age of misinformation, his leadership remains a trusted voice on true Islamic equality.
Upholding the Rights of Women in Society
Hazooraba has been a vocal advocate for women’s active participation in society. He strongly believes that women should be allowed to take part in every sphere of life, within the parameters of Islamic principles. In his public addresses, he has emphasised that Islam gives women the right to work, own property, and contribute to society while maintaining their dignity and modesty.2
Hazooraba mentions that “Islam is that religion which from the outset guaranteed the rights of all women. It is that religion which liberated women and established their true status and honour.”
Hazooraba continues:
“It is only in the past century, that those people and nations who condemn Islam, have been forced to afford some basic rights to women and yet they still try to claim moral superiority. Furthermore, in the name of ‘freedom’ they have fostered an environment in which women are treated as ‘objects’ and their dignity and true status is constantly undermined.”3
Regarding the rights of women granted in Islam, Hazooraba states that,
“Only the Holy Qur’an has recognised that women share the same sentiments and desires as men. Therefore, where Allah the Almighty establishes the rights of men, He also states that women should be given their due rights, by declaring:
‘And they (the women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them.’”4
Hazooraba advocates for women’s rights within the family, emphasising the importance of fair treatment. He frequently cites the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw, who treated women with the utmost respect and honour. Hazooraba stresses that marriage in Islam is a partnership based on mutual respect, love, and kindness, with women’s rights protected in all aspects of family life.
Furthermore, he strongly condemns all forms of violence against women—physical, emotional, or societal—and rejects cultural practices that harm or restrict women’s rights, as they are contrary to Islamic teachings. In his addresses, he reminds both men and women of the need to uphold women’s rights and ensure they are treated with dignity and respect.
In his address to the Ladies section at the UK Jalsa Salana in 2016 Hazooraba said:
“Islam has granted countless rights to women. As I have mentioned, both men and women are granted an equal reward for doing good. Women have also been given the right to inheritance, and a woman has full right over the wealth that she earns; and it is forbidden to deprive women of their right to an inheritance. God Almighty says that they must be given their share in inheritance and that this right of theirs should not be usurped. It is also forbidden to prevent women from getting married for the sake of causing them harm, and there are many more commandments similar to these.”5
A Champion for Women’s Education
One of the key areas where Hazooraba has made significant strides is in the promotion of women’s education. In his addresses to the community, Hazooraba has highlighted how the Holy Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammadsaw highlight the value of educating both men and women equally. In fact, the first word revealed to the Prophet Muhammadsaw was “Iqra” (Read)6, an invitation to seek knowledge that is meant for all of humanity, regardless of gender.
Whilst addressing the female youth of the Community, Hazooraba stated,
“Nowhere does Islam say that women should be confined to the home as is sometimes alleged. For example, there are some girls and ladies, who excel in studies and achieve extraordinary results and Islam does not instruct that they should waste their talents or skills and only stay at home.”7
Under the leadership of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has made great strides in establishing educational institutions that offer opportunities for both boys and girls, particularly in regions where women’s access to education has been historically limited.
Whilst delivering a keynote address at the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris, Hazooraba stated:
“Based upon these teachings, Ahmadi Muslim girls across the world are educated and are excelling in various fields. They are becoming doctors, teachers and architects and entering other professions through which they can serve humanity. We ensure that girls are given equal access to education as boys. Hence, the literacy rate of Ahmadi Muslim girls in the developing world is at least 99%.”8
Hazooraba has often reminded members of the Jama’at that empowering women through education is essential not only for their personal growth but also for the betterment of society. Hazooraba states that,
“Remember that the key for any nation to thrive and progress lies in the hands of the mothers of that nation.” 9
On another occasion, he stated:
“In the establishment and development of any nation or community, the women play a fundamental and vital role, as the responsibility for the training of the future generations lies in the hands of mothers. They are the nation builders…Take pride in the fact that your primary duty is to raise the standards of the future generations, by setting the very highest standards for them to learn from and follow.”10
The Importance of Spiritual and Moral Guidance
For Hazooraba, the empowerment of women goes beyond material or societal advancements. He emphasises the importance of spiritual and moral development, noting that true empowerment comes from understanding one’s relationship with God and living in accordance with His commandments. In this regard, our Khalifa regularly encourages women to take an active role in their spiritual and moral growth, engaging in prayer, worship, and community service.11
Through his teachings, Hazooraba has shown that a woman’s worth is not measured by her external achievements alone but by her character, faith, and contributions to her community. In the context of women’s empowerment, Hazooraba advocates for a balanced approach that respects both the material and spiritual aspects of a woman’s life, ensuring that both are nurtured and valued.
A Global Advocate for Women’s Rights
Hazoor’saba advocacy for women’s rights extends far beyond the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He has used various international platforms to speak out against gender discrimination and the injustice that women face worldwide. He has met with world leaders, participated in interfaith dialogues, and addressed global audiences, consistently advocating for the equal treatment and protection of women.
He also clarifies misconceptions about Islam’s stance on gender equality, passionately defending the rights of Muslim women. Hazooraba highlights that Islam granted women revolutionary rights, such as the right to own property, choose a spouse, and seek an education, long before these were recognised in the 7th century.
While discussing the crucial role of women in the world, Hazooraba shared a profound example from the Holy Prophetsaw and explained,
“The Holy Prophetsaw admonishes those men who do not treat their wives well over the smallest of matters. He states that one must take care of the well-being and comfort of women because they have been created from the rib. He said that if one tries to straighten the rib it will break, but if one tries to benefit from the way it has been made then they will certainly take benefit from it.12
What a beautiful example he has given! Two of the major organs are within the ribcage – the lungs and the heart. According to doctors, this is a very important part of the body which protects the heart and the lungs from all kinds of harm. Hence, the status of women is such that the life of society is only breathing through them and the beating of pure hearts is protected by them.”13
The Role of Women in the Ahmadiyya Community
In the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the teachings of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba have inspired women to play an active role in all aspects of community life. Women are encouraged to excel academically and professionally, while also engaging in religious, volunteer, and social service. They hold leadership positions across various departments, showcasing the practical application of the principles Hazooraba has championed.
On one occasion, Hazooraba said:
“Ahmadi women are more educated than men, Ahmadi women are doctors, they’re practicing doctors, they’re engineers, they’re lawyers. They’re research workers, scientists. So, their rights have never been denied. “14
Under the guidance of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba, the community has launched programs empowering women in areas such as health, leadership, and social activism, providing them with the resources to thrive personally and professionally while staying true to their faith.
Hazooraba has consistently stood as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the empowerment of women, both within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and in the broader global context. His advocacy for women’s rights is not just a matter of equal opportunity but a reflection of the deep Islamic values of justice, compassion, and respect for all individuals, regardless of gender. By promoting education, equality, and respect, he has set an example of how Islamic principles can serve as a foundation for the upliftment and empowerment of women in the modern world. Through his leadership, countless women have found their voices and are working to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, the Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, has delivered numerous keynote speeches globally, emphasising Islam’s true teachings, including its principles on women’s rights and equality. These addresses not only serve as a source of guidance and inspiration for Ahmadi women but also enlighten those who may be misinformed or unaware of Islam’s true message. In an era where misinformation thrives on social media, Hazooraba stands at the forefront, steadfastly advocating for the authentic Islamic teachings on women’s rights through both his words and actions.

Blessings of Khilafat
Dure Jamal Mala
The guiding light of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya has, since its inception, been a beacon of spiritual leadership for the entire Jama’at. Khalifa-e-Waqt has a direct and personal connection with Ahmadis around the world. His guidance impacts our daily decisions, our family lives, and the understanding of our faith, and blessings of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyyat through the lens of my personal experiences.
Undoubtedly, Ahmadis around the world will have their own personal experiences because Khilafat is doubt that the Khalifa-e-Waqt serves as a spiritual father and guardian for every Ahmadi.
I always remember those beautiful and emotional words Hazrat Mirza Masoor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba said during the Friday Sermon of 6th June 2014 in Germany, where he expressed his love for the Jama’at in the most humbling fashion:
“Before sleeping at night, there is no country of the world that I do not visit in my thoughts and no Ahmadi for whom I do not pray whilst sleeping and whilst awake.”

The past year has been particularly emotional for us as Ahmadis, as we learned during the Friday Sermon of 3rd May 2024 that Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba had been unwell and undergone quite a major medical procedure.

(The Telegraph, 7th April 2019, https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/04/07/interview-caliph-increasing-numbers-joining-persecuted-minority/) REFLECTION ON
I would like to share a few personal incidents of how I have personally experienced the blessings of Khilafat. I do so not with any intention to highlight my own incidents or stories, but simply to illustrate how Khalifa-e-Waqt cares and shows love to every single Ahmadi.
A few years after moving to the UK, I went through a personally challenging period in my life. Around 2011, I suffered from a serious mental health crisis. It is not something I have spoken of before. Looking back, I was suffering from depression. Though it struck me suddenly, there were probably various factors which built up over time that caused it.
For several months, I struggled to leave my home. Some days, I would just stay in my room and feel anxious if anyone approached me or tried to speak to me. My husband naturally was worried and confused. At that time, there was not as much focus on mental health or an understanding of such issues. He informed Hazooraba, and I too, wrote to Hazooraba for prayers.
For as long as I live, I will never be able to thank both beloved Hazooraba and Khala Saboohi (Hazoor’saba respected wife) for the way they helped me through that dark period. Far beyond my husband or parents or anyone else, Hazooraba cared for me and responded to my pain and suffering with understanding, love and care. With the utmost patience and compassion, he helped me, gave guidance and encouraged me.
For one, he told me that I had to modify my diet and increase the quantity and quality of my food intake. He made it clear that I should not be conscious of losing weight or dieting. Rather, my health required for me to eat well. On a daily basis, Hazooraba would ask my husband about my progress. Hazooraba would tell him that I should try to go out for a walk for a few minutes, but as soon as I felt anxious or worried, I could return home. It was something to try to build up and increase with time. Hazooraba even instructed an Ahmadi doctor to visit me at my home and to talk through my issues and he also gave me a lot of advice and help. Similarly, I had served in the UK Lajna National Amila for a few years as Muavina Sadr and had just been nominated once again to the National Amila by the newly elected Sadr Lajna.
However, without telling a soul the reason, Hazooraba instructed the Sadr Lajna to withdraw me from the Amila. Hazooraba did not tell her the reason but, so that I did not worry that Hazooraba was displeased with me, he particularly told my husband that he had removed me from the Amila so that I could focus on my recovery and not have any additional pressure during that period. Furthermore, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba instructed Zanubia Baji (Chief Editor of Maryam Magazine) to add me to the Markazi (Central) Waqf-e-Nau team. It was Hazoor’saba sheer grace that he invited me to serve the Jama’at in this way and to assist with the preparation for the Waaqifaat-e-Nau Classes held with Hazoor-e-Aqdasaba. Later, I also had the privilege to be part of the Maryam Magazine team that was launched on the instruction of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba.
Thus, Alhamdolillah, due to Hazoor’saba love, guidance and compassion, I was able to emerge from that very tough period.
As I said, I will never ever forget the love and the tenderness, discretion and patience with which Hazooraba and Khala Saboohi both supported me during that time.
Perhaps one of the underlying causes of that period of depression was that I had been married for several years and had not been able to conceive. As every week and month passed by, the feelings of dejection and desperation increased. Again, it was only the encouragement and prayers of Hazooraba that enabled me to get through that period.
After exhausting various options, fnally, my husband and I decided that we should try for IVF treatment. However, when my husband asked Hazooraba about this, Hazooraba told him that IVF was extremely tough physically and emotionally for women and so we should wait for a little while longer before pursuing it.
I remember my husband and I were a little surprised, perhaps even disappointed. After listening to fertility doctors, we had convinced ourselves that our only conceivable option was IVF and that we should not wait. Yet, despite being doctors and medical professionals, they did not care or worry for my well-being, even a fraction of the way Hazooraba did.
No doubt, apart from guiding us, Hazooraba was praying for us.
My husband has written in one of his diaries how one day he was leaving Hazoor’saba offce after a Daftari Mulaqat (Offcial Meeting) and, suddenly and totally unexpectedly, Hazooraba said to him:
“Tumaray saaray bachay Waqfe Nau honge InshAllah”
That: “All your children will be part of the Waqfe Nau scheme, InshAllah”.
That same day, my husband came home overjoyed and emotional and said that Hazooraba has said with such confdence today that our children will be WaqfeNau and so there is no doubt that we shall surely be blessed with children soon.
Alhamdolillah, just a few weeks after Hazooraba instructed us not to pursue IVF, I became pregnant naturally.
Knowing our personality and temperament, upon hearing the news, Hazooraba very beautifully told my husband that we should not become excited; rather, we should spend the next 9 months in prayer because there were always risks of complications in pregnancies.
When the time came for my eldest son, Mahid’s birth, the labour was very long and tough. I was in the hospital for the best part of 2 days before he was born.
I still recall how, a couple of hours after his birth on a Friday afternoon, my husband went to Masjid Fazl to tell Hazooraba the good news. He told me after that Hazooraba had said that because the labour was taking so long, he had prayed, especially during the Friday prayers, for the safe delivery of the child.
Alhamdolillah, Mahid was born safely a few minutes after Hazoor’saba Jummah prayer was complete.
Today, over a decade later, the fact that we now have been blessed with three healthy children is a miracle for us and only a result of the prayers of Khalifa-e-Waqt.
I have mentioned a few personal incidents, but these personal anecdotes, while deeply meaningful to me, are not isolated occurrences. Rather, Ahmadis all around the world have similar stories of how they or their loved ones have been the recipients of the unique blessings of the Khalifa-e-Waqt. Countless individuals bear witness to the truth that Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya is a source of divine guidance and a spiritual shield. May Allah the Almighty grant Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba a long and healthy life, and let it never be that we, God forbid, take the blessings of Khilafat lightly or for granted. Ameen.

Blessings of Khilafat
n nd June , a group of La na and Nasirat members from ologne and Bremen, Germany, visited Islamabad, Tilford, K, and had the honour of a Mulaqat with Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba
During this Mulaqat, Hazooraba was asked, “How can we explain the importance of Khilafat to non-Ahmadi contacts so they can see that Khilafat transforms fear into peace and is the solution to all human problems?”
Hazooraba said that in discussing the importance of Khilafat with nonAhmadi Muslims, it can be highlighted that the prophecy of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw about the establishment of Khilafat was indeed fulflled Khilafat-e-Rashidah upheld Islamic teachings but also faced numerous challenges and opposition Despite these challenges, it was divinely supported, as refected in historical accounts where Khilafat continued despite opposition due to Allah’s promise of victory to believers
Following the period of the rightly-guided Khulafa, there continued to be leaders who identifed as Khulafa While these leaders managed to keep the propagation of Islam alive to some extent, they did not embody the essence of the rightly-guided Khulafa
Then, monarchies became prevalent Initially, these regimes saw success as long as the rulers governed ustly However, as soon as ustice faltered and oppression prevailed, it led to the downfall of these monarchies and, subsequently, a decline in the infuence and unity of the Muslim world In contemporary times, the longing for a unifed leadership is evident across the diverse sects within Islam Each sect proposes its leader as the central fgure, yet there is a pervasive reluctance to embrace a single leader for all, highlighting a fundamental challenge in achieving unity among Muslims
Hazooraba said, “To resolve this issue, we should look at what Allah Almighty and the Holy Prophetsaw ha e sai hey ro hesie that a ti e woul come when Islam would have as many sects as the Jews, and then the Promised Messiahas woul co e It was ro hesie that when the Promised Messiahas woul co e, he woul ather all the sects to ether Hence, Allah told the Promised Messiahas to unite all usli s un er one han hen they are unite un er one han , internal ifferences will en , con icts will cease, sectarianis will anish, an no one will clai to be unni, ahhabi, hia, eoban i, etc Instea , all these sects will co e to ether un er one han any eo le a ree that they nee lea ershi hence, when they acce t this lea ershi i e , Khilafat e h a iyya , they will beco e a unite force
ow loo at Israel, causin trouble for the entire worl n the other hand, there are 54 Muslim countries, some of which are very wealthy, with oil riches, yet no one listens to the his is because usli s are not unite they are not a sin le force If they were un er Khilafat, they woul be a unite ower, an the ene y woul not are to f ht a ainst the

Out of all the blessings God Almighty has bestowed upon us, I say without any hesitation one of the most bountiful is Khilafat. Every encounter with our beloved Khulafa, be it even a small
glimpse from afar, has such a profound efect on the hearts of all that often, we are left at a loss for words to express our feelings and emotions. But today, I take on this monstrous task by attempting to recount the massive influence of Khilafat on me and the events that have shaped my life and defined the person I am today.
First Ameen Ceremony in Belgium with Khalifatul Masih
My earliest memories of experiencing the blessings of Khilafat take me back to the year 1998, the occasion of Jalsa Salana Belgium, which was graced by the blessed presence of Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IVrh. My elder sister and I were granted the opportunity to have our Ameen ceremony with beloved Hazoorrh after the Jalsa Salana It was a very big day for us, and we were nervous as well as excited because this was the first Ameen ceremony to be held in the presence of a Khalifa in Belgium.
As soon as the Jalsa proceedings concluded, my sister and I made our way to the men ’s Jalsa Gah where Hazoorrh was seated on the floor. We took our seats next to Hazoorrh and recited to him the last three chapters of the Holy Qur’an. Beloved Hazoorrh was so happy with our recitation and very lovingly said, “Shabash” (Well Done) and enquired whom we learnt to read the Qur’an from Hazoorrh then led the prayer on concluding the Qur’an and asked us to repeat
after him and then he led the silent prayer. I still
remember that Hazoorrh was so pleased with our
reading that he mentioned to Private Secretary
Sahib that upon Hazoor’srh return to London, a signed copy of the ‘Tafseer-e-Sagheer’ should
be sent to us. In it, Hazoorrh lovingly wrote us a
message, which reads:
Dear Zara Tahir Sallamah Illah (God’s Peace)
Dear Naila Tahir Sallamah Illah (God’s Peace)
(Signed) Mirza Tahir Ahmad
The copy of the Holy Qur’an is cherished and kept
safe to this very day.
Relocating to be Near Khilafat
In early 2005, my family decided to relocate from Belgium to London, meaning we would be living
very close to Hazooraba. We would go to Fazl Mosque every day to pray behind beloved Hazooraba and being a Waqf-e-Nau, I had the opportunity to attend Gulshan-e-Waqfe Nau classes, which were a source of direct guidance from beloved Hazooraba. The amount of attention and love
Hazooraba provides Waqfe Nau is enormous, and I am blessed to be a Waqfe Nau. Alhamdolillah. Over the years, through these classes and our personal family Mulaqats, I was blessed to build a strong connection with Hazooraba
A Life-Changing Train Journey
Later in 2005, we heard that beloved Hazooraba would be visiting Qadian, India, for the first time since he became Khalifa and would grace the Jalsa Salana with his presence. My parents being from Qadian, decided to go too and be a part of this momentous occasion. I got the opportunity to join my parents along with my two youngest siblings. However, a day before we were to leave, my mother’ s visa did not come through, so she had to stay behind and join us later once her visa was approved. As a result, not to incur too much of a loss, my parents decided that my father, myself and my young sister, who was just five at that time, would go ahead and my 4 -year-old brother would join us later with my mother. This, however, meant that I would be looking after my younger sister this whole journey, which made me a little anxious as, at the time, we were not sure whether my mother would make it or not, but Alhamdolillah, she was able to join us later in Qadian.
I remember arriving at the New Delhi train station at midnight on a chilly, freezing night. Many of you who have been to Qadian know how cold the winters in India can be. Upon enquiring, we discovered that the next train to leave for Amritsar would be at dawn. Since there was not enough time for us to check into a hotel or have a stopover at the mission house in Delhi, my father decided for us to stay at the train station. He found us a place to sit in the waiting room and left me with my five-year-old sister and our luggage to arrange train tickets. My sister and I spent the next couple of hours sitting on cold metal chairs, waiting without a blink of sleep, vigilant of the dangers of being two young girls alone in a foreign country. I remember well that my father would return to check up on us several times during that night to make sure we were okay. Unfortunately, despite all his eforts, he discovered that all the ticket counters were closed and would only open later in the day after the train to Amritsar was scheduled to depart. This really worried us, and we turned to Allah to help us in this dificult situation. It makes me emotional to think, even now, how Allah answered our prayers later that day
Around Fajr time, a few Khadim who had just arrived for their Jalsa duty met my father. They told us that the train to Amritsar was fully booked. However, they have some tickets pre-purchased for another Ahmadi family, but the family has not shown up yet They said that they would give these tickets to us, but if the family arrived at the last moment, they would be travelling
on these tickets. During this time of uncertainty, we again turned to Allah, and it turned out that the family never appeared. So, after a dificult night, we thanked Allah the Almighty for arranging our journey ahead. However, stepping onto the train, we did not realise what a blessing this journey would be.
As soon as we found our seats, since we hadn’t slept the whole night, my sister and I immediately
fell asleep; we were so exhausted that we even skipped breakfast! A few hours later, we woke up to an amazing sight; it turned out that a lot of other Ahmadis were also on the train, and
seeing my father, after a night worried and stranded with his two young daughters, amongst friends and people whom he knew, lifted away any stress or tension we were feeling. But we were yet to hear the best news of the day
The train arranged for us by Allah the Almighty, by nothing short of a miracle, was not an ordinary train Allah the Almighty’s Khalifa was also travelling on it! Indeed, Hazrat Mirza
Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, was on the same train, seated in the cabin just behind
ours. We were overcome with joy about how this was even possible. My father arranged for my
sister and I to visit beloved Hazoor’saba carriage and meet him. We stepped inside Hazoor’saba cabin in a daze, and from somewhere, I mustered the courage to say to Hazooraba that we were also from London and going for the Jalsa, to which Hazooraba lovingly replied, ‘Acha’ (okay).
This small moment proved to be so special for me and my sister, to see the works of Allah.
Whenever Hazooraba would see me in the years after that meeting, he remembered it too, often referring to me as ‘Qadiani’ or ‘Hindustani’. This whole trip was full of blessings and perhaps a turning point in my life as it made me realise the importance of faith in Allah and the blessings of Khilafat. Upon returning from this trip, I rededicated my Waqf to sacrifice my life in the
way of religion. Alhamdolillah.
My Marriage
Another unforgettable moment that I will cherish all my life was that of beloved Hazooraba and Appa Jan gracing my wedding day with their blessed presence. For a girl, marriage is perhaps the most significant decision of her life, as she moves away from her parents’ home and all she has ever known, to start a new life elsewhere. Throughout the whole process of my marriage, until I moved to Singapore in 2012, I sought the guidance and prayers of Hazooraba at every point In one of the Mulaqats, although I knew I was not deserving or worthy, I, along with my parents, humbly presented my wedding invitation to beloved Hazooraba. Leading up to the wedding, there was no confirmation that Hazooraba would be attending due to his busy schedule; however, a few days before my wedding, Hazoor ’ saba ofice confirmed that Hazooraba had accepted the invitation and would be attending. I have no words to describe my feelings and emotions when I heard the news, and every moment thereafter, I only have such immense gratitude to Hazooraba and Allah the Almighty for all the endless blessings that have
been bestowed upon me. The gifts beloved Hazooraba and Appa Jaan presented to me and my husband are still unopened, and we wish to keep them as a memento to remind us of that special day. Moreover, I still have the plate, the glass, the cutlery, and even the napkins Hazooraba used for his meal and I will cherish these forever.
A Memorable Class
One last story I wish to relate is of the year 2013, the year beloved Hazooraba visited Singapore.
As I was expecting my first child that year and was to return to the UK to my family for the delivery, I sadly had to miss the blessed visit of Hazooraba to Singapore. Having lived so far from Khilafat in Singapore and hearing that beloved Hazooraba would be visiting, I and all Jama’at members were beyond elated. We joyously immersed ourselves in preparations to welcome our beloved Khalifa. But somewhere in my heart, I was sad that due to the birth of my child, I would not be present for the joyous occasion we were all preparing for. It was definitely a little dificult to overcome these feelings, but I took my sorrows to Allah the Almighty, who listened to my prayers in such a remarkable way.
About one and a half months after Hazoor’saba successful tour of the Far East, upon his return, Gulshan-e-Waqfe Nau classes in London resumed. I humbly sought permission from management to attend the class and if I could possibly also bring my newborn. Alhamdolillah, once again, my prayers to Allah were answered, and permission was granted. My daughter, Razia, met Hazooraba for the very first time in front of the attendees of the class, which was aired on MTA International; thus, my entire family and viewers all over the world witnessed this occasion. Hazooraba lovingly placed his hand on her cheek, enquired how many months she was, commented that she’s taken after her father’ s side of the family and asked if she was the one who was born when he was in Singapore. To this day, I am amazed how Hazooraba, despite his hundreds of responsibilities, especially after having met hundreds and thousands of people on his recent tour, still remembered even the tiniest details. I feel so blessed that although I may have missed Hazoor’saba visit to Singapore, I was still able to meet Hazooraba along with my newborn in London Alhamdollilah
Having lived in Singapore, even though we were thousands of miles away from Khilafat, this long distance only increased my yearning for the blessings of Khilafat and strengthened my connection in many ways. Every day, I would remember beloved Hazooraba in my prayers and regularly wrote to Hazooraba for guidance for every task, no matter how small.
Now, having moved back to the UK and living in such close vicinity to beloved Hazooraba, I wish for my children, Razia and Hammad, to experience and recognise what it means to be the recipients of the blessings and all-encompassing love of Khilafat, which has shaped and defined every aspect of their mother ’ s life.
Khilafat
‘And when thy Lord said to the angels: ‘I am about to place a vicegerent in the earth’
(Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 31)
Khilafat, the Arabic word for Caliphate, is the spiritual and administrative leadership that continued after the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw and then after the Promised Messiah and Mahdias. Khilafat is a global movement aimed at spreading Islam and serving humanity.
A Khalifa is a man appointed by Allah as his ‘vicegerent’ on earth to spread the message of Islam and unify believers under one leader and religion. The Holy Qur’an contains all the divine guidance that man could possibly need and it also contains prophecies and promises from Allah, some of which have been fulfilled and others are still yet to be fulfilled in the future. As Islam is the perfect and final religion, Allah promised that Muslims would be granted both spiritual and temporal leadership in the world.
Today, Ahmadi Muslims are the only people in the world who can claim that they are enjoying the blessings of the true Khilafat of Islam.
Hence, it is our duty to develop a strong and meaningful bond with the Khalifa, who is the divinely appointed, spiritual successor of the Promised Messiahas. Strengthening our relationship with Khilafat is not just about love and respect, but also about obedience, prayers and active participation and involvement in the Jama’at and Jama’at activities.
One of the primary ways to build a strong connection with Khilafat is through complete obedience to the instructions and guidance of the Khalifa and implementing his advice in our daily lives. As it is commanded in the Holy Qur’an;
O ye who believe! obey Allah, and obey His Messenger and those who are in authority among you. (Surah An-Nisa, verse 60)
BUT HOW CAN WE APPLY THIS IN OUR DAILY ROUTINES?
We can follow the instructions and guidance given by our beloved Hazoor, Hazrat Mirza Masoor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba, in his sermons, which include Friday sermons, addresses at Jalsa Salana, Ijtemaats and other important speeches delivered throughout the year. These provide moral and practical guidance.
As Waaqifaat-e-Nau, we should display unconditional obedience to Khilafat. Beloved Hazooraba said about Waqfe Nau: ‘If they are in the front row to obey the Khilafat and acting upon its decisions, then they are special.’ (The Essence of Waqfe Nau, Friday Sermon delivered by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, 28th October 2016)
Prayers are a powerful tool to build a spiritual connection with Allah and Khilafat. Since our Khalifa is leading the Jama’at in a time of global problems, he needs our constant prayers. We, as Ahmadi Muslims, should try our utmost to include our beloved Hazooraba in our daily prayers. For mothers, it is essential for them to encourage their children to pray and develop a love for Khilafat and the Khalifa from an early age. Ahmadis are encouraged to write letters to Hazooraba, seeking prayers, guidance, and blessings.
Our beloved Hazooraba, has immense love for each and every one of us.
In the Friday Sermon of 6th June 2014, Hazooraba stated: “Before sleeping at night, there is no country of the world that I do not visit in my imagination and no Ahmadi for whom I do not pray whilst sleeping and whilst awake.”
BUT HOW CAN WE STAY ENGAGED?
One can stay engaged by attending and giving duties at Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention), Ijtemaat and classes held locally, and participating in tabligh and charity work by Humanity First. Doing all this will develop a sense of responsibility and resilience.
Beloved Hazooraba listed a number of traits Waqfe Nau should display in order to be deemed ‘special’, and one of those are: ‘If they regularly take part in the programs of the auxiliary organizations and the Jama›at more than others, then, they will be special.’ (The Essence of Waqfe Nau, Friday Sermon delivered by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, 28th October 2016)
Strengthening our relationship with Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya is a lifelong journey that requires obedience, love, prayers, and active participation in Jama’at activities.
We can personally stay connected to Hazooraba by writing to him. We can write about our personal matters; seeking prayers and guidance for health, studies, career or family, write about gratitude and our love for khilafat, and any other concerns that we wish to share. Our beloved Hazooraba is our spiritual father, who prays for us, and for all Ahmadis around the globe. While Hazooraba receives thousands of letters daily, he prays for all those who write letters and often responds personally! By consistently writing letters to Hazooraba, we can stay connected and strengthen our spiritual bond with Khilafat.
Strengthening our relationship with Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya is a lifelong journey that requires obedience, love, prayers, and active participation in Jama’at activities. By following these practical steps, we not only enhance our personal faith but also contribute to the global progress of Islam Ahmadiyyat.
May Allah enable us to remain ever loyal, obedient, and devoted to Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya, and may we always remain under its divine blessings. Ameen.
Khïlåfåt
Khilafat is the key to success
A divine blessing
With worries lessening A guidanceThat provides reliance. A great healing
And a great feeling Whenever we send letters for prayers, A breeze of comfort fills the air. Away from it, I am deserted But in its shelter, I am protected. From my heart, I pray For the success of Khilafat And health of beloved Hazooraba I wish my home and my heart Come closer to the Khilafat’s Noor. (Ameen)

MY EXPERIENCE WITH
AND
THE IMPACT
ON MY Khilafat Spiritual Journey
MELISSA AHMEDI
Beloved Hazoor, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaba has always been at the forefront of my spiritual ourney, many times in ways I did not even realise By the Grace of Allah, I embraced Islam Ahmadiyyat at years old, in the city of Manchester Now, aged , I could not have imagined what my life would look like then and how my whole ourney would have been shaped by the prayers of Beloved Hazooraba How his prayers have shaped each and every one of us Ahmadi Muslims, and the hearts of those who have not yet embraced the faith too
It’s diffcult to describe the direct hand of Khilafat in my life without frst explaining that my ourney to Islam Ahmadiyyat began as a pre-teen, as the faith was frst introduced to my older sister, Jazibah, who converted under Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh I curiously asked questions to her and
the friends around me, and it was purely through Beloved Hazoor’saba prayers that I accepted Islam Ahmadiyyat and took my Bai’at at the Jalsa Salana K in the summer of at the age of I couldn’t have ever known this would be the path my life would take Allah had planned it and Beloved Hazoor’saba prayers enabled things to happen with perfect timing
When most people were on their summer holidays, I came back to school as an Ahmadi Muslim But no one else would know how transformative that summer was for the tra ectory of my life so far So, I returned in September to ear , at the age of , choosing to wear a headscarf I remembered the butterfies in my stomach and the anxiety over what people would say and think before I went to school My hi ab has seen me through many chapters in my life so far It has taken courage and resilience
but mostly prayers in that ourney
Now, when I refect back, I realise it was the prayers of Beloved Hazooraba that enabled me the strength to wear the hi ab in places where I felt it was more of a challenge to do so
The process of wearing my school uniform with a headscarf every day meant that it became a habit outside of school too Initially I did have some anxiety and was nervous about what other people might think and say, but I realised over time, especially as an adult, why should that matter more than my faith and what I believe in
As I got older, I realised the hand of Allah is behind our every move, whether we choose a path that is good for us, or make decisions that are bad for us, we decide our fate through our actions Beloved Hazooraba knows the pain that people are going through and the challenges they face in their lives If our lives were a book, Allah reveals to Khilafat the reality and truth of things, that our next chapters’ fate are decided by our obedience to his guidance His spiritual capacity and nearness to Allah is something we as Ahmadi Muslims are inspired by and witness to every day, and we see miracles happen Beloved Hazooraba is able to see and feel what is in a person’s heart without that person ever disclosing to him He heals people spiritually and physically through his prayers and presence I truly believe without Khilafat and Beloved Hazoor’saba prayers there is no true success as it is only he who prays without any ulterior motive for each and every one of us to be the best Ahmadi Muslims we can be for ourselves, our families and our society
Each time I have had the blessed opportunity to have a Mulaqaat with
Beloved Hazooraba, without fail, his words have proven to be instrumental and life-changing in unique and transformative ways By the Grace of Allah, I have been fortunate to have met Beloved Hazooraba in every phase and stage of my life As a student, as a newlywed, as an expectant mother, and now, Alhamdollilah, as a mother of two children We were extremely fortunate to have our newlywed Mulaqaat two days after our Nikkah, and I was still in the process of deciding whether I wanted to change my surname Islamically, there is no need to change it of course, but I was in two minds For context, I should say my surname being King’ doublebarrelling it with anything sounded a bit ridiculous It was something that was on my mind and few people knew about this decision Both me and my husband went to greet Beloved Hazooraba at his desk as we were walking in, before we had sat down and before the door had closed behind us, Beloved Hazooraba addressed me poetically and said smiling,
“NOT ONLY ARE YOU NOW AHMADI BY FAITH, BUT NOW YOU’RE AHMEDI BY NAME.”
To say I was stunned would be a complete understatement He’d put my heart at ease about the dilemma I’d been having for a while and through his words he reminded me of the special ways in which Allah communicates to his Beloved Khalifa How could Beloved Hazooraba know
Fast forward to our next Mulaqaat when I was expecting our frst born My husband had a dream in which he saw himself sitting with Beloved Hazooraba and in the dream an
unknown man walked by My husband asked Beloved Hazooraba who it was, and he replied, Jibrael’ My husband narrated this dream to Beloved Hazooraba in the Mulaqaat, we were a bit confused because Jibrael’ typically is used for boys, but we were expecting a daughter Beloved Hazooraba said don’t worry when you have your son next you can call him Jibrael’ He proceeded to give us the name Jaweria’ for our daughter, meaning everlasting happiness and the name of a beloved wife of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw A more perfect choice couldn’t have been chosen for her A year and a half later, Jibrael was born How could Beloved Hazooraba know we were ever going to have a son Again, through his words he reminded me of the special ways Allah communicates to His Beloved Khalifa How could he know
I thought again When I refect on my life and my spiritual ourney, full of ups and downs, twists and turns, I feel wholly undeserving of the love and care Beloved Hazooraba has given to me and my family When I ask others about this, they narrate dozens of stories of how Beloved Hazooraba ust knows’ too He remembers He prays for each and every one of us that we may try our best and become better for ourselves and our families For each and every Ahmadi, for each and every person in the world, Beloved Hazooraba is the light through a dark tunnel, even if, at times it seems our struggles and circumstances seem too heavy to carry We are so fortunate that such a humble man of God looks after us whilst sacrifcing his own needs and desires, to create a more peaceful and loving world
Khilafat Keps Prophetood Alive
The following excerpt is taken from a lecture delivered by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-udDeen Mahmud Ahmadra, Khalifatul Masih II, on 28 December 1940 on the occasion of the annual convention in Qadian, India. It was part of a wider series of lectures known as Sair-e-Ruhani .
The Holy Prophetsaw said that every prophethood is followed by a khilafat in order to convey a resemblance between this institution and a mosque. Mosques are built for the purpose of creating unity in worship, similarly a prophet is tasked with establishing a community for the same purpose. And just as a mosque symbolises the Khana Ka‘bah, so too does khilafat act as a reminder of the Holy Prophetsaw and all this is the result of that commandment of Allah the Exalted wherein He says:
Surah Al Baqrah, (2:126)
That is: ‘Just as A House of God has been built, you too must live your lives in accordance with the practice of Abrahamas and keep alive the spirit of his soul.’ When worshippers are commanded to take the station of Abrahamas as a place of prayer, this does not mean that they ought to
stand themselves on the exact spot where he prayed. That would be impossible and if it were the case, the debate over the exact place of Abraham’s as prayer would never end. And if, hypothetically speaking, this issue was indeed resolved, the small matter of how all the world’s Muslims could pray there would still need to be settled. For example, on the occasion of the Hajj close to 100,000 pilgrims descend on Mecca. Even if each of them was to perform a prayer in the manner of the Hanafis, so that their movements would resemble little more than the pecking of a hen, it would still take at least two minutes to perform their duties. Accordingly, 720 individuals would be able to do their prayers in that particular spot on any given day. And what would the 99,280 other pilgrims do, and what would become of the rest of the Muslim world who would not be able to pray there at all. Therefore, again, if this commandment is taken literally it cannot be put into practice. On the contrary, it would open up
the door to conflict and disorder and indeed this issue has, in the past, already led to a person being killed in Mecca. Accordingly, this verse cannot be taken literally. Instead, as I have already explained, here Allah the Exalted is referring to leadership and directs people to elect an imam so that the practice of Abrahamas can be kept alive.
In truth the following verse refers to two types of leadership:
Surah Al Baqrah, (2:125-126)
First God says to Abraham :
, that is: ‘I am about to raise you as an imam, meaning to say a prophet.’ To this the patriarch replies: ﻦﻣ وÊÊÊ Ê , that is:
‘Raise prophets from among my progeny too, for if I die, who will carry this mission forward.’ However, God told Abrahamas
that he was wrong in this and revealed to him that at various times the people of his progeny would be among the most unjust, therefore, He could never entrust them with this mission. Conversely, God would command his progeny to keep his practice alive, and those who would live up to this, would be appointed as imams. Thus, in this verse Allah the Exalted speaks of two types of religious leadership. First, prophethood which is divinely bestowed, and secondly khilafat which involves the agency of other human beings and which is hinted at by the words:
There is an element of human influence in this and so people are commanded to strive for it.
Through this verse, Allah the Exalted has instructed human beings that when prophethood is not present as a religious leadership, khilafat ought to be established. Again, if these words are taken literally they can never be implemented.
Khilafat Keeps Prophethood Alive By Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Deen Mahmud Ahmad Khalifatul Masih IIra, p.4-8
THE REVELATION OF THE QUR’ANIC VERSES RELATING TO THE ADVENT OF THE
Promised Messiahas
Allah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“
He it is Who has raised among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves who recites unto them His Signs, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and Wisdom, although they had been, before, in manifest misguidance; And among others from among them who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.” (Surah Al- Jumu’ah 62:3-4)
The last verse signifies that the Message of the Holy Prophetsaw was meant not only for the Arabs among whom he was raised but for all non- Arabs as well, and not only for his contemporaries but also for the coming generations till the end of time.
Or the meaning may be that the Holy Prophetsaw will be raised among another people who have not yet joined his immediate followers. The reference in the verse and in a well-known saying of the Holy Prophetsaw is to the Second Advent of the Holy Prophetsaw in the person of the Promised Messiahas in the latter days.
Says Abu Hurairahra:
“One Day we were sitting with the Holy Prophetsaw when Surah Jumu’ah was revealed. I asked the Holy Prophetsaw , “Who are the people to whom the words ‘And among others from among them who have not yet joined them’, refer. Salman the Persian was sitting among us. Upon my repeatedly asking him the same question, the Prophetsaw put his hand on Salman and said, “If Faith were to go up to the Pleiades, a man from these would surely find it” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 12, Kitabul-Tafsir, Surah Jumu‘ah, Hadith no.4897).
This ḥadith shows that the verse applies to a man of Persian descent. Now, the Promised Messiahas , the Founder of the Aḥmadiyya Movement, was of Persian descent. Other sayings of the Holy Prophetsaw speak of the appearance of the Messiah at a time when there would remain nothing of the Qur’an but its words and of Islam but its name i.e., the true spirit of Islamic teaching will be lost (Baihaqi). Thus, the Qur’an and Hadith both seem to agree that the present verse refers to the Second Advent of the Holy Prophetsaw in the person of the Promised Messiahas .

My Love for Khilafat
My love for Khilafat, Will go on for so long, I will not go far from it, And my bond will stay strong. My love for Khilafat, Should grow even more, But if that does not happen, I won’t be as good as before.
If My love for Khilafat, Is love that is pure, I hope it stays with me, And I will keep it secure.
My love for Khilafat, Is always in my heart, It always has a place in me, And can never be apart.
My love for Khilafat, Cannot go away, But if it starts to fade, My life will be grey.
But if my love for Khilafat, Is pure, ongoing and strong Then my love for Khilafat, In my heart, it will belong.

THE MAN WHO Never Lied
Long ago, in a distant land...
There lived a wise man named Mamad. He was known far and wide for one remarkable thing - he never told a lie. People travelled from great distances just to meet him, and his reputation even reached the king.
Curious, the king summoned Mamad to his palace.
“Mamad, is it true that you have never lied?” the king asked.
“Yes, it is true,” Mamad replied.
“And will you never lie in your life?”
“I am certain of that,”
Mamad said The king nodded. “Be careful! Lies are tricky, and they can slip from your tongue before you even realise it.”
Days later, the king decided to put Mamad to the test. As he was preparing to go hunting, he called for Mamad in front of a large crowd. With one foot in the stirrup and his horse’s mane in his hand, the king gave an order:
“Mamad, go to my summer palace and tell the queen to prepare a grand feast. Tell her I will be there for lunch, and you will dine with me.”
Mamad bowed and left to deliver the message. But as soon as he was gone, the king laughed. “We’re not going hunting after all! Now Mamad will have lied to the queen, and tomorrow, we will all have a good laugh at his expense.”
When Mamad reached the queen, he said, “Perhaps you should prepare a feast for lunch tomorrow, or perhaps you should not. Maybe the king will come at noon, or maybe he will not.”
The queen was puzzled. “Will he come or not?”
Mamad replied, “I do not know. When I left, he had one foot in the stirrup, but I do not know whether he mounted his horse or placed his foot back on the ground.”
The next day, the king arrived and said to the queen, “Did Mamad lie to you?”
The queen smiled and repeated Mamad’s exact words. Hearing this, the king realised that Mamad had spoken only the truth - he never claimed to know what he did not see with his own eyes.
From that day forward, the king respected Mamad’s wisdom, and the people admired him even more.
Always speak the truth and only say what you know to be true.
