Since 2017 J.J. Durant has been the Head of Franchise Sales and Development for Restore Hyper Wellness, a company with 145 retail outlets around the United States. Restore addresses the fastest growing segments of wellness, helping people in need of chronic pain management, accelerated injury recovery, improved athletic performance, enhanced immune wellness, and healthspan longevity. With guidance from specialized experts, registered nurses, and the oversight of independent physicians, Restore is meant for both long-time fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and those simply looking for the latest in health and wellness. JJ is a graduate of The Episcopal Academy and The United States Military Academy West Point.
Barkley Sample ’77, a graduate of Malvern Prep, was honored by Malvern on September 13, 2022, by placing his name on the Wall of the Center for Social Impact. This is Malvern’s newest building, where they honor both alumni and non-alumni who have made a significant impact in the community. Barkley was recognized for both his work within the Malvern community and for 20 years of nonprofit work and Board of Trustee service. He is part of the 2nd class to be so honored. Barkley is also a graduate of Brown University and is currently employed as Regional Director at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh.

Lauren Avellino Turton ‘90 recently started a new job with Philabundance as the Media Relations Specialist. She is proud to work for the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization which provides millions of pounds of food annually to those in need. Having an extensive journalism background, Lauren works in tandem with major TV networks, mainstream radio stations, and prominent print and digital platforms to promote the vital work the Philabundance team carries out each and every day. Recent projects include the Phans Feeding Families food collection at Citizens Bank Park and the Let’s Eat initiative, which will provide nutritious meals to children and families during the summer months. Lauren is a graduate of Merion Mercy and earned a degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Lauren is an avid supporter and participant in many charity and community events, which have included the American Cancer Society and MS 150 Bike Rides, Media 5 Miler, Broad Street Run, Rock & Roll Philly Half Marathon, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, City Team Ministries Thanksgiving & Christmas initiatives, and more. Lauren lives with her husband, Andy, and their 3 fur babies in Media, PA.
Sadiqa Lucas ’91 is the executive director of Excel Middle Years Academy, a continuation school of choice for middle school students who find themselves in need of a smaller school setting. Excel’s mission is to create a safe environment for students to succeed inside and outside the classroom by fostering positive relationships within the school setting while learning to be responsible and accountable. Sadiqa states, “We want our students to know we will continue to follow them through every moment in their life,” she added. “They’re not just our students, but members of our family.” In addition to this role, Sadiqa is a Trauma Victim Support Advocate at Temple Health. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/ Sports from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s of Education at Arcadia University with a specialization in reading.

After an amazing run of the two-hander play: The Niceties at Mile Square Theater in Hoboken, NJ-DeAnna has now been cast in the leading role of Olivia Bennet in the world premiere of Tara Wilson Noth’s play: B.R.O.K.E.N code B.I.R.D switching. The production is in part supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and will run this summer in the Unicorn Theatre at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, MA. B.R.O.K.E.N code

Greg Hansell ’92 took on a new role in 2022 and is now serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Private Client (PCG) unit of Alden Investment Group. In his role, Greg oversees this division as well as the Accounting and Technology departments of Alden worldwide. He also serves as Co-CEO of Alden Investment Group, where he manages general day-to-day operations of the organization. Greg is a graduate of Malvern Prep and Swarthmore College and obtained an MA in Theology from Union Theology Seminary in New York.

ROSS DIBONO ‘00
Ross DiBono ‘00 was named a partner in the law firm of Zarwin, Baum, DeVito, Kaplin, Schaer & Toddy in February, 2022. In addition, Ross was recognized in the June issue of Philadelphia Magazine as a “Rising Star “attorney in the field of Civil Litigation: Defense. Ross is a graduate of Malvern Prep, Villanova University and Villanova University School of Law.

B.I.R.D switching is a play about the choices we make and the unspoken lies we tell ourselves to make peace with those choices. After graduating from WMA, DeAnna attended the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur and earned a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School.

Hannibal Mathis ’09 completed his Master’s Degree in Social Work at Widener University, so he is excited to be officially listed as Hannibal Mathis, MSW. Hannibal attended The Haverford School after graduating from WMA.

JADE KILLION ‘14
Jade Killion ‘14 was presented with the Criminal Justice Department 2022 Chair Award by the Clemson University College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences. This award recognizes the achievement of a sociology, anthropology, or criminal justice major who has demonstrated service to the department outside of normal classroom duties. Jade is honored to have been nominated and chosen to receive this award by a department “that has given her so much throughout the past four years.” Jade attended Mt. St. Joseph Academy after graduating from WMA.
Pilar Jackson ’13 earned Dean’s List for the last 5 semesters at Temple University. She did an internship with the CDC, held a leadership position at a home care agency, and interned with a non-profit. Before graduating last fall, Pilar was offered a position working in state government. She now serves as the African-American and Latin X Health Disparities Project Coordinator and is the Programmatic Officer for Emory’s Maternal Opioid Curriculum at the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health. More recently, she has been interviewed by the Black Information Network on iHeartradio, where she discussed the ongoing pandemic’s impact on the opioid epidemic.

KELLY KING ‘14
Kelly King ‘14 graduated from Fordham University magna cum laude with a degree in American Studies, a concentration in Diversity and Difference, and a minor in Marketing. One of the highlights of graduation was being honored with the Orestes Bronson award, the award that goes to an American Studies major that excels in the curriculum and thesis writing. From August 2022 to June 2023, Kelly is serving with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps as an early childhood teacher in Baltimore, Maryland at the Loyola School! The Jesuit Volunteer Corps is a program that unites young people in their quest for social justice and provides them with community and spiritual frameworks to guide an intense year of service. Kelly states, “I believe that the early childhood days are so formative and remember my interactions with my little buddies at Waldron that cultivated my love for children. The Mercy spirit has been with me when I laugh and play with the children.”

Dominick Leuzzi ‘14 graduated from the Fox School of Business at Temple University with a degree in Financial Planning in May. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep, he is now joining Walsh & Nicholson Financial Group in Wayne, PA as a Financial Planner.

Ciara McGee ’14 is again interning for U.S. Representative Brian K. Fitzpatrick this summer. Ciara is working on his campaign for re-election to the House of Representatives. A graduate of Penn Charter and Fordham University, Ciara will start law school at New York Law School in August.

Nora Pergolini ’14 has accepted a full-time position with Vanguard as a Client Relationship Associate following her recent graduation from Fordham University. Nora attended Merion Mercy after graduating from WMA.

Katie Mastriano ’15 received an honor from Skidmore College for expository prose for a paper titled, “Subverting Migration Gender Dynamics: Mati Diop’s Atlantics, the Rab, and Female Empowerment in Senegal.”
