Enable Design
Presenting well and smart – an art form in the making
Blair Rooney and his team at Enable Design are a notable example of star ng small, crea ng a great service with innova ve ideas, and pow – people are scrambling to get a look in! “I was assured from the start,” says Blair. “Business confi dence in Wairarapa is high and people are wan ng to present professionally.” Just a year ago, Blair and wife Beth were opera ng their company from a couple of laptops, and a roving offi ce around Wairarapa, which saw them visi ng clients who wanted to up their image or simply create a new website. They stress to clients there are three phases of branding – design, digital and marke ng. We help them work their way through all this, adhering to the principal of keeping it SIMPLE. “How a company or product presents itself is so important to its success. We’ve produced great branding ideas which have captured the imagina ons of clients who have willingly run with our ideas. We are most apprecia ve of those people who let their minds run free, as it lets our crea ve juices fl ow, and it allows us to produce great ideas. Keen to create branding which both clients and their customers love, Blair makes them instantly recognisable and memorable at a glance. “Clever branding is successful if we can go about our daily life not realising that we recognise things by their logo, colour, signage shape, without mentally absorbing words or bringing it to a en on,” explains Blair. The more subtle, the more eff ec ve it is.” Blair has established an offi ce in the Umbrella Group building on Masterton’s Chapel Street by the Renall Street roundabout. It’s sleek black and white interior with display screens featured on the walls, shows the team is serious. Blair has been joined by Connor Duncan, who comes from a print background. He’s responsible for the business development of Enable Design. Blair has done this un l now, as well as doing the idea brainstorming. Recently he and Beth have become parents and so wish a bit more family me. With them is Fernanda Arias, a senior designer, who hails from Mexico and has made Wairarapa home. There’s lots of Blair’s ideas around Wairarapa and beyond. Early crea ons were within Homegrown Butchery at Kuripuni Village featuring the large, stencilled bull on the wall. He’s also worked with Mrs Blackwell’s Village bookshop, the bicycle store, and Saunder’s Shoes in Greytown. E-commerce websites are ever popular with more people shopping on-line. “These avenues must have ul mate ease of opera on, as well as looking appealing. They also off er another revenue stream within the exis ng business.” says Blair, all stuff he’s good at doing. Blair was born in Palmerston North and raised in Wellington where he met Beth. They had spent two years in the same classroom at primary school and eventually met up again and married in 2018. Entrepreneurial from an early age, at 16, Blair created his fi rst company in the apparel industry. Further jobs were in the print and media industry and had a couple of s nts in Melbourne. In 2017, it was a leap of faith leaving a ‘comfortable’ crea ve job as a business development manager to set up on his own. Blair has enjoyed helping companies to create their vision and is con nuing to seek such opportuni es in Wairarapa.
