Beyond the Piece

Behind every art piece is a talented artist who puts their soul into their work. Art does not just serve as something to look at, but more so a deeper connection into the mind of the artist.

Art has long been used as a way of self expression by artists A way of producing messages with deep meaning through creativity.

In her piece titled Ganesh, Remi S conveys her artistry with her uncle in India in mind. When asked about what inspired her, she says, "He has always inspired me to push through with what I love, which is art, and so I wanted to draw someone who he finds inspiration in." She elaborates that, Ganesh, is a Hindu God that is often celebrated and regarded as one of the most important figures in Hinduism. Remi explains in her interview that she draws inspiration from things that she is interested in such as cities and portraits of her favorite people. She particularly likes using pencils, charcoal, and pens saying, "This medium is so versatile and that is why I like it the most " She has always felt an attachment to art and believes that is "a way for [her] to write out [her] emotions without words."
