After being engulfed within a captivating game, I sat down with Viviana Campos and Emily Entwistle to speak about their participation in girls beach volleyball this year “I feel like not a lot of people knew about the program, because it started halfway through the school year,” they explain regarding current interest in the sport. “A lot of people showed up to the interest meeting but that still wasn't enough because I still hear people asking like, ‘oh, can we join the team?’ So I know that definitely next year, like, we're gonna have way more girls as well as a better and bigger program.” I ask about the levels of enthusiasm from each game’s crowd and how it compares to indoor volleyball. “I think compared to the ratio of girls, it's about the same But yeah, the team is smaller this year Everyone’s here today though, which is great ” We spoke about RB’s team size and how it compares to their opponent that day, Torrey Pines High School “They have about 25 players Which is a lot more than we have, but they've been doing it for eight years Hopefully in the future our team can grow to that amount.”
