his year, superstores — like Walmart, Best Buy, and Costco — might not receive their notorious Black Friday crowds. With 75% of shoppers concerned about stock-outs and 68% of shoppers planning to shop before Thanksgiving, as reported in Deloitte’s Holiday Retail Report 2021, many shoppers began purchasing products earlier than in previous years and retailers began promoting holiday sales months earlier,
with so-called Black Friday deals beginning weeks before Thanksgiving. Jesús E. Vázquez Rivera, president of the United Retailers Association, (CUD, for its Spanish acronym) approaches this busiest time of the year with caution.
